So former wrestler/manager/PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood is working on developing an independent wrestling game based heavily on the classic AKI games, and he's made a Kickstarter page to help fund him and his team's work on this project. Wrestlers like The Young Bucks, Willie Mack, Addy Star, Evil Uno, and Johnny Yuma are already signed on for the game, and Joey Ryan is exclusive to anyone who donates.

I have no faith that this game will be finished on time or that it will be any good. I've been burned by a couple of Kickstarters and have sworn off it.
But I am for more wrestling video games being made. So I hope it does well and we see it late next year.

They are saying all the right things (IE it's based on the AKI Engine, all your favorite independent guys, full customization) but I noticed in the video they didn't really go into detail on explaining how anything is possible within the game. Also, and I hate to sound so negative but the renders they have so far look like bad comic book art. I would love to see a good wrestling game that's an alternative to the annual WWE release (usually the exact same game with a new cover) but I don't feel like they really have any direction for this. It's just like "Hey we all liked No Mercy what if you donated a bunch of money and we *TRIED* to replicate that engine with a bunch of your favorite non-WWE talent that we haven't gotten signed yet by the way!"

Seems like a great idea but I really don't see it working out. No way they raise $200,000 in 19 days.
