The underlining issue that a surprising majority of our population don't understand about substance use and addiction itself is that it starts as a mental health problem..
These people are self medicating.. They are depressed.. Not everyone who abuses started out as a scumbag addict..
Some did..
But more often than not, they didn't.

Sad to hear. Hope he bounces back soon. Still crazy to think over a year ago he took a bump at WM.

For one minor incident "off the wagon" seems pretty harsh

For one minor incident "off the wagon" seems pretty harsh He's supposed to be sober. Have you seen the Ressuresction of Jake the Snake? It's heartbreaking that he's back on the bottle.

Back on the bottle? A slip can happen. It's up to him what he does to prevent it from turning into a full blown relapse. You're jumping the gun without evidence.

Relapse is unfortunately an inevitable challenge for any addict. Hopefully he pulls through. In other news, I heard him in an interview recently and his speech sounds slurred - like he's had a stroke... has he?

So he had a wobble let's not judge now he's done this before and gone back to sobriety after a drinking session

He's an alcoholic. Nobody ever "recovers" from it. They fall off the wagon - it happens. I've seen it first-hand. He will get back on track as long as he has the right support network. Plus this is also not the first time something like this has happened didn't he like no show Hall of Fame ceremony like 3 years ago or something like that he said like he was in a dark place period like this guy here said you just never truly recover you have your good times and your bad times

Just like Jake has slipped up a couple times. With the stuff they are going through, it is more about being able to get back up.

Sounds like you have absolutely no experience with alcoholism. Good for you. I think it's actually the other way around. I have Way more personal experience with it than anyone should. Don't even go there dude. And I've been following Scott's story for at least 5 years now. Any time he takes a small step back like this, it gets worse and worse.

Any time he takes a small step back like this, it gets worse and worse. I work in the field of treating people with addictions. I too have followed Scott as he is one of my all time favorites. This story is suggesting that he may have slipped. A slip is a brief time period where someone loses control for a short time. A relapse is a longer period of time where a person falls back into their old ways and relies on that old pattern again. A slip can very easily turn into a full blown relapse, but if this is any thing like the last story he can very easily pick himself up like he did last year and avoid a full blown relapse. Your post was suggesting that he was running around toting a bottle, but the only evidence we have is he may have slipped into a familiar pattern where he had a few drinks. This doesn't suggest relapse or old patterns yet, and I hope it doesn't.

It's not like he was doing lines of blow off the bar and downing bottles of Jack Daniels one right after the other. Slips happen. It's up to him to get back on the wagon.
