For me it's a tie between Monsoon/Heenan and Monsoon/ Ventura. Monsoon in my eyes is the best ever, and then you got the two best heel announcers ever in Heenan/Ventura. You could never go wrong.
I gotta get this off my chest and it concerns WWE announcing today. I HATE three man announce teams. For the life of me I can't understand why they need a 3rd wheel so to speak. In the old days they had a face play by play and a heel on color. It's been a simple concept for years yet WWE is hell bent on keeping that 3rd guy for reasons I'll never understand.
They're are many things I can't stand about todays product and the announcing is pretty high on that list. I really miss good commentary like how was in the 80s/90s but sadly I don't ever see wrestling having announce teams like they did then in today's product.
Ahhh the good ol' days how I miss you so.

I think the only real good 3 man announce team I remember from back in the day was Gino Monsoon, Roddy Piper and Bobby Heenan. The stuff they did at SummerSlam 91 was great!
But a lot of the announce teams back then were great.
Monsoon/Ventura Monsoon/Heenan McMahon/Ventura McMahon/Heenan McMahon/Piper Monsoon/Piper Schiavone/Ventura Schiavone/Heenan
Those were the days for great commentary teams! No hash tags, or trending world wide, or tweeting this. Just calling the match and putting entertainment to it. It was great!

The only pass I'll give to 3 man announce teams are like you mentioned Monsoon,Piper, and Heenan from Summerslam 91 and Vince,J.R, and Lawler from 96/7. All those guys had personalities unlike today's guys do.
And the heels stuck to their guns and kept busting on the faces the whole match unlike today where JBL and Graves (the ''heels'' of today) are sometimes offended by heels actions and stick up for the faces. Imagine Heenan and Ventura doing that back in the day.

McMahon/Ross/King McMahon/King McMahon/Savage Monsoon/Savage McMahon/Perfect They all were good. And if you ever got to watch the Coliseum Videos, the likes of Stan Lane/Gino Monsoon, or Gino Monsoon/Johnny Polo were always good too!

I got a ton of old Coliseum Videos in my personal collection and your absolutely correct Monsoon/Polo were very good.

For me personally, having WCW run through my veins, Schiavone/Heenan and Schiavone/Heenan/Rhodes is my favorite, regardless of how ridiculous it can get between those group of guys.

Schiavone/Heenan/Rhodes were another great 3 man team. Who could forget that Saturday Night episode where Rhodes screams ''He's got a bicycle!!''

A great two man crew is way better than the three man crap that the WWE tries these days.
One thing I like about NXT is the two man crew. WWE could probably save themselves about a million or more if they eliminate most of the commentators are completely useless.
The same thing goes for the Pre-show panels. You only need Renee and two others there, not three. I would stick with Renee/Lita/King for Raw and have Renee/Booker/Otunga for the Smackdown pre-show.
The three man commentary can work if all three men have differing points of view and don't try to one up each other. JBL has been the worst for this since coming back to the desk. Meanwhile on Raw you rarely ever hear from the third guy, unless Graves is running him down.
If the WWE gave all three men equal times and kept Cole as the straight man between Gaves and Saxton on Raw, and dropped JBL completely from Smackdown. I think commentary would vastly improve.

From WWF: Heenan and Monsoon Ventura and Monsoon JR and King JR and Heyman
From NWA/WCW: JR and Schiavone JR and Heyman Gordon Solie and Lance Russel Schiavone and Heenan
Honorable mention: Lance Russel and Dave Brown from the Memphis territory/CWA/USWA. Those two had great chemistry and really brought a legitimacy to the often wild and outrageous proceedings.

I can’t really decide on who my favorite announce team of all time is, but I would have loved a team made up of Jim Ross, Joey Styles, and Matt Striker.
