Anyone else like Vampiro's character? His in-ring stuff was average but I always enjoyed the character as a kid and was surprised he was never brought into the WWF after WCW was bought out. His feud with Sting was interesting, though the matches left ALOT to be desired due to Russo's overbooking.
Anyone else like this guy? Also, was it ever said why he never got a shot in the WWE? I know he was in and out of a few Indy promotions since WCW closed but that's all I've really heard about him.

I dug him as a 12 year old who was all about WCW in 2000. His theme was cool, his gimmick was cool, and he was solid in the ring.

When I think of Vampiro, all I can really think of is what Mark Madden said at SuperBrawl 2000 during the Vampiro vs. Billy Kidman match.
"I predict a year from now these two will be facing each other for the United States Championship and years from now the WCW Championship."
Just that line there alone by Madden made me realize how bad of shape WCW was in during the year 2000. As for if I think he was good?? He was alright, but again, it seemed he had this big reputation built up about himself from wrestling in Mexico, that I wasn't too impressed when I first seen him in WCW.

I didn't mind his heel run during the dying days of WCW but his ring work was nothing to write home about.

His action figure was one of the best ever imo. I did love his look and gimmick and I think he would've been great in WWE.
Also imagine if he would've been Sara's stalker.

Would have made a hell of a lot more sense than DDP. Vampiro's could have claimed Taker wasn't on the dark side any longer and was now weak and he was gonna prove it by messing with his family. |

Absolutely terrific idea for Saras stalker. Also UTs pounding of him wouldn't have been 1/10th as harmful to Vampiro as it was to DDP. Man I would have loved that. and hell yeah.....his WCW figure rocked. Its still one of my faves. pre internet when you didn't know what figures were en route was GREAT when you found something new. I nearly fainted when I walked into a store and found Awesome, Douglas, Vampiro and JJ........ |
