He probably just wanted to move on.
Like, if I was Triple H in 2011, why would I wear my Connecticut Blueblood attire or my DX tights if I'm a totally different character?

I believe Ric Flair did wear the green trunks for a few matches at the very beginning of his 1991/1992 WWF run..... I'll have to check later, but I remember there being some matches from a European tour on a Coliseum Home Video where he was wearing the green, and probably one or two matches on PrimeTime Wrestling..... I might even recall seeing a photo of him wearing the pink tights at a house show (I want to say against Piper)? I'll try to find some backup of this later.... Your correct. He wore the green trunks when he wrestled Kerry Von Erich on Coliseum Videos ''Wrestling World Tour'' that came out in 92. Thanks for the backup! Here's a shot from that time period overseas.... I also recall that he was wearing green for the famous confrontation on the Funeral Parlor with Hulk Hogan.....

The green pink, white etc were very dated 70s fashion colors & he was wise to go with red, blue & black.
Always like the purple on flair as a classic look tho
