No, the story WWE told was way better than him being disfigured. It was all in his head and his face was fine the entire time was genius. I also think that was a very fitting way to end the "Big Red Machine" and transition him into the "Big Red Demon" However, I wouldn't mind seeing The Boogey man should up with some kind of prosthetic face mask around Halloween to scare some of the WWE staff backstage.

If you had any idea how much money and time it would take to put proper convincing and detailed makeup that wouldn't fall off on Kane every time he appeared you would know why.

If you had any idea how much money and time it would take to put proper convincing and detailed makeup that wouldn't fall off on Kane every time he appeared you would know why. I can understand the mix up but I was speaking in terms of a realistic flesh piece or mask that he wears during his gimmick and takes off when he goes home. |

I liked how they handled the Kane unmasking storyline in 03. From ''burning'' JR and tombstoning Linda Mcmahon, I always tuned into Raw just to see what he was going to do next. It was a nice refreshing change to his character imo.

If they had to do that every day it would have gotten old real fast for Kane and the makeup team. He would have to sit in a chair for hours every day to apply it. And then at least an hour after to remove it. There's no way that would have been a good idea especially seeing they are constantly traveling from venue to venue on a daily basis.

And to add to what has been said..... it would have been prosthetic pieces.... no matter how well glued down and pieced together, they would come off during a wrestling match. Hell i have had pieces falling off of me after 5 hours at a halloween party.

But it would need to be glued on and then makeup wound have to be applied around the boarders to blend it in so it would look like part of his actual face and not a prosthetic glued to his face. That is just too much of a hastle to do every day for a 10-20 minute match or an interview segment especially with a match when his sweat would probably wash the makeup away anyway.

Applying facepaint is WAY different than special effects make up. Between gluing it down, fading the edges, then paint over it... it's time consuming . |

I know it originally wasn't like that, because at SummerSlam 2000 his mask got pulled off and his long hair covered his face. But clearly the WWE writers in 2003 had an idea in some way that Kane was disfigured to do that hair cut and such. Even the way Jim Ross sounded when Kane took the mask off and turned around to choke slam RVD it was with the expression of disgust and shock at Kane's face.

If Kane was just appearing maskless once at WrestleMania or something, they could have done a big, time-consuming fancy prosthetic thing. But when Kane was making towns and putting asses in seats on a full-time basis, there was no way it'd work. He wasn't going to be sitting in the makeup chair for hours every day like Johnny Knoxville had to every day for Bad Grandpa. And then there's the thing where wrestlers aren't wearing a great deal of clothing to conceal prosthetics, and that's just a lot of time, hassle and expense four nights a week for very little gain. This was also during the Internet era so it would've just resulted in a million "lol nice fake head" comments anyway and done more harm than good. Especially when it fell apart during a wrestling match. Zero benefit to it.
