"Glad" to see the store near me will survive a bit longer. Can't wait to visit it again and instantly get the feeling of needing to take another shower

1,524 according to Google. No I wanted to know how many they have right now Seems like as of January 31, 2016, there are a total of 934 Kmart stores. So, the 1,524 was probably from before the last round of closings. The 934 obviously wouldn't take into account any closings in the eight months since that figure was tallied.

Somehow the nearest one to me is surviving. But two other nearby ones are gone.
I may be the only one with a strong connection to my store. The county I grew up in was surrounded mostly by river so not many exits existed, particularly eastbound. The nearest exit to my house (which wasn't far off the river as the crow flies) took me to the next town over which had a Kmart. We went there a lot for simple supplies and I would get toys for good grades from this store. It was a good store for most of my life because it would get lots of good toys and they wouldn't sell out super fast like walmarts always do. Of course no one shopping there might be why they are in such bad shape. But the store near me does smell all right and is halfway decently clean. The stock has been bad the past two years though. I end up going there mostly out of habit but have maybe bought $60 worth of toys from them this year.

Unfortunately, all those stores that I have good memories from are loooong closed. Places likes Hills, Jamesway, and Childrens Palace.

Did you ever have one of those? There's a Total Wine store where it used to be now, so I make a different kind of happy feeling on the same spot as I did being a kid buying toys there. Roses used to be all right when I was really young. Went in one about four years ago and they had Havoc Unleashed JBL and John Cena. Kmart was the place where I could find almost any rare figure that was stumping me everywhere else. Sometimes I still get a slice of garbage delicious crappy tasty Little Caesers. The world's best awful cheap pizza. The Little Caesar's was a free standing store when I was really little but when they moved into kmart it became extra awesome because I could look at toys while they cooked it.

Now you got me. I totally forgot about Best. We did have one Best in my area when I was young. As soon as you said that, I remembered the store logo. The smaller B going up to the big T! My store was always Hills. I'd run back to the toy section and just soak it all in while my mom shopped. Then on the way out we'd grab a hot dog and a Snapple. Oh man, good times...good times...

People are losing their jobs, but guys, what about the figures?! Won't somebody think of the figures? Whatever we will lose in k-mart stocking wwe figures, walgreens and gamestop has picked up the slack. That along with ebay/amazon/ringside, K-mart is utterly useless and pointless.

I hope they don't all go away. I love the place, and those I go to are just far enough outside of my normal toy routes that going to one feels like a treat. I don't know why anyone would want them to close. As others have said, it's like going back in time when you step into one (who was it that posted the pic of the Kenner sign inside of one?). It reminds me of going to Kmart as a kid, or Alco or Gibsons. I dig it so much.

There are two in my area as well that are not on this list. But that might be because one was closed down last year. But the other two seem to always be busy (for one of them it's pretty surprising lol). They are pretty hit or miss, but I've made some great finds at both!

I tried to price match that NOD 2-pack. They said they didn't price match. So I left and took my business elsewhere. They haven't had anything decent in ages.
