Hi guys, i'm not the biggest collector when it comes to Mattel, just don't have the passion i used to when i was a kid for it That being said, i brought the latest Samoa Joe Elite figure... 43 series i think? It looks great, but a massive let down for me is the range of motion in the hips. I only pose the figures, but even so i found it majorly restrictive, and it seems to be due to the shape of the crotch piece because the crotch piece is sort of in a 'trunks' shape I've noticed its not as bad when it comes to most figures with conventional attires and pieces such as Orton or Rollins elites, but still in the back, the shape of the crotch piece restricts movement. I understand why they have it that shape as it is the shape of standard wrestling trunks, but still at the end of the day, these are primarily toys, not sculptures... Would anyone else like to see this piece sort of 're-tooled' going forwards so thats is more of a T shape and the trunks are extended onto the hip pieces? If you cant really understand what i mean, i made a quick mock up So, the top picture is the back of a standard crotch piece, as you can see because of the shape, there is not much range in motion. The one below is more what i propose, the red lines are the 'joints'. Give the trunks more of a T shape and extend the trunks onto the hip parts, this would give a much better range in motion and extending onto the hips will stop the trunks looking like underwear. What do you guys think? Do you encounter this problem? think of any other viable ways to resolve it or agree if you do?

Joe's mobility is really bad. I don't care how they fix it but I hope they do on the next Joe figure. I would buy a new one if they fixed it and I try to avoid buying more then one of the same guy.

I wish they had designed them like the pieces Jakks used in their DA's. Those DA's were the best for doing superkicks

I've been tempted to scour ebay for a cheap figure with a larger crotch piece (like Jim Duggan), cutting away alot of the excess on the crotch piece and making like... cloth shorts... see if that works better tbh

With the cloth shirt it could be your best bet.

The elite trunks kinda aren't accurate in the front. In real life they tend to cover the upper front thighs like the basics do. I always thought they should've gone with a Power Rangers style articulation for the thighs. A lot of the PR toys my nephews had kind of attached at the hip and could easily go forward or back or side to side. It might look unrealistic on a toy, but so does double knee joints.
Sadly, it's too late for Mattel to retool elites like that.

Yeah, my crotch restricts some of my mobility too...but it is what it is. I have no complaints.
