Non-SB news: Eli Manning expected to announce retirement this Friday. With that class of QBs, I never expected Manning to be the second guy to retire. I explected Ben. Eli had a rough career. Team was always topsy turvey, had a massive name to live up to, and he's the only guy to beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. Twice. That alone should get him in the Hall, easy. Trivia tidbit about the QBs of that draft. There were four taken in 2004. Most only think of three: Rivers, Eli, and Ben. Who would have thought that the Bills would sit on their draft picks and not trade up for one of them and rather draft JP Lossman in the FIRST ROUND because he impressed them the most over Rivers and Ben. How'd that work out? Poor Bills fans. I actually met JP Lossman outside a jets game. Another Bills player pointed him out as he was standing by a limo holding a pizza box.

And maybe in a football environment that wasn't pumping players back to FA like the Clap repel, he might have had a chance. He plays like Cousins. Not too big so he has to get into space, would take off if there's a sack in the pocket and he can't intentionally ground (despite the fact that a corpse would beat him in that sprint out the tackle box), had a borderline great RB in his backfield...he just only had players wearing other jerseys to throw to, because the WR situation in the Losman/McGhee Era was so pitiful they probably begged for a toddler flag football league receiver to join his team as they'd be infinitely better than what was being fielded. See Allen's success now. It's because of a good RB and receivers. That could have been Lossman, but Jim Kelly's influence was just playin.

You're not wrong and he's getting in but I don't agree with it, at least for that reason. Jim Plunkett has two SBs and no one bangs the drum for him. Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora were just as important to the Giants winning those SBs, and does anyone think they're going to get serious consideration? And hot take; is it that far-fetched to say they were better DEs than Eli was QB? It sounds like I have some vendetta against Eli and I don't. He's pretty likeable so I don't have anything against him I just hate how there's arguments on whether Phillip Rivers will get in but because Eli had a couple of hot runs he's all but guaranteed. IMO he'll be the worst player inducted into the HOF that I've seen (which, admittedly, has to go to someone and still has them as better than like 95% of the people who have ever played). lol I have such a soft spot for the Bills from that era. What life is like in Ontario before Sunday Ticket. Takeo Spikes 4 life. he just only had players wearing other jerseys to throw to, because the WR situation in the Losman/McGhee Era was so pitiful they probably begged for a toddler flag football league receiver to join his team as they'd be infinitely better than what was being fielded. Lee Evans, son. Hate how all he's known for is dropping a game winning touchdown for the Ravens.

Not surprised Eli is retiring, he wants to start and with a QB heavy draft class and a notable free agent market his odds were slim to none.

I respect the hell out of Eli Manning, and I think he can go out with his head held high. He's had a good run with a nice share of accolades to hang on his mantle at the end of the day, not the least of which was handing us a heaping plate of crow in 2007 (and thank f*ck we finally took that stupid banner down a few years back, my god). I think he'll always have a little something-something to hang over Peyton's head with his 2 with 1 to Peyton's 2 with 2. I only put about half the stock that some people do into the HoF, but I wouldn't cringe to see him get it, as he'll definitely go down as at least a notable player of my lifetime.

First year of no Mannings in the league.
That’s going to be really odd feeling.

It's Super Bowl week!
I hope the GOAT listens to his idol, Joe Montana said in a interview that Brady shouldn't leave the Patriots.

Brady & Belichick have both reached out to Jimmy this week. One could argue that the rise of the Patriots dynasty came at the falling of the Niners dynasty. With Brady's tenure soon to be coming to an end, could it be the Niners dynasty once again rises up?

Honestly, if this is it, and Brady is out, I'll have an easier time getting past that than I have with the Garoppolo trade. I'm still sore over that one.

Well, as a Raiders fan there’s no way in hell I will ever pull for the Chiefs to win so I am hoping Nivro™ gets his Niners win.

For my entire life, Football ended in January. And this time around, it didn’t.
My team gets a shot at the big one. My favorite team and players on TV screens and being one of the talks of the town for a week or two. Being compared to other great teams and players that have had the same opportunity.
Because that’s what it is. An opportunity that only two teams get every year.
I don’t know what it’s like to be a dynasty or in the title hunt each year. Hell, I’m not even used to having a good quarterback that other people actually consider good.
But I’m not sure if I’d appreciate this all the same way if I did.

This may be your first but I honestly doubt it will be your last and I can promise you that you will appreciate every single one of them the same because of how difficult it is. Honestly you may appreciate the next one more (if they were to lose) because you know how tough it is to get back. Winning 5 is great (although I personally only seen 3) but losing that 1 has more effect on this Super Bowl then those 5 wins did with me.
