I want to like it because of my child hood, but it doesn't look so great.

I'm unimpressed by it. I don't like the changed origin story and sappy teenage angst.
I don't like the way Hollywood blockbusters are filmed either. They give no aesthetic pleasure. They're all dark and flooded with cool colors.

So, I'm not the only one that thinks this looks like garbage?

With this trailer, you actually show some of the angst a teenager may go through(that's actually a problem for some ha!)and as long as they don’t go overboard I welcome it.

I might stick with Chronicle for the time being.

So, I'm not the only one that thinks this looks like garbage? I already had low expectations and this trailer lowered them more. I'll watch it, but definitely not in theaters.

Why does this look a ton like Chronicle? I don't think it looks bad though. I'll try and catch this at the theater. I haven't cared about MMPR since 1995. So I have zero expectation for this flick.

People are crapping on this? WHY?! Teenage angst? HAVE YOU EVER BEEN A TEENAGER? Or been around one?! C'mon guys this is the mother in' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! THE ORIGINAL FIVE! On the big screen! And it's not a kids movie! This is actually what they said it would be, a dark re imagining of an extremely campy kids show.. Oh well. As someone that grew up with the original five, I am stoked on this!

And as someone who grew up with the original series as well, this isn't the Power Rangers.
Same concept. Absolutely different approach. Some like it, some don't.

Ehhhhhhh... not something that I'll trek out to the theater for. I'll give it a chance, though.

Glad I'm not the only one who saw that. By me saying that I'm not s**tting on it, it's just what came to mind straight away...but yeah...might see it, might not...like you, I have zero expectations.

The trailer wasn't what I expected, however I will be seeing this regardless since MMPR was a huge part of my childhood. Going in with low expectations though.

I loved the trailer and look forward to this. I felt the original MMPR show had a bit of hokeyness to it, where the movie seems to have removed that element. I also like the Breakfast Club feel with the kids. They arent just 5 friends who got these powers...but 5 people from different social circles that have been thrown together due to some sort of behavior problem. I am also digging the suits. They are a cross between MMPR and the Iron Man armor.

I though the trailer looked pretty good. My son who is 8 said it looked awesome.
I really do not get people who say remakes and reboots are "crapting on their childhood" or something else to that effect. How does this have any kind of effect on you enjoying the version you grew up with?

I really do not get people who say remakes and reboots are "crapting on their childhood" or something else to that effect. How does this have any kind of effect on you enjoying the version you grew up with? Stupid analogy, but here goes... Imagine as a kid you got to eat this cake all the time, it was white frosting with yellow cake and strawberry filling, on the top it said "Happy Birthday" and had two big flowers. It was awesome, you loved eating it. Then you grew up, kinda drifted off and haven't ate it for 20 years. Then you hear its available again and you think oh man when I was a kid I loved it, it was awesome let me go check it out. You go and check it out and its got white frosting and on top it says "Happy B-Day", and has three little flowers so it looks pretty close to what you remember. Hey we all grow up and change a bit, so OK, it looks pretty close to what you remember, you decide to take a piece and inside its just a straight up dry lasagna. That's exactly what these terrible reboots are like, they kinda capture the appearance, but nothing of the essence that you like, its just filler so it holds the appearance. This is what I said about it in a thread about overrated characters: After seeing the recent Power Rangers teaser trailer, they just made the list! I was 10 when the first series came out and I ate it up until the Green Ranger saga then even at that age I gave up after that. This new teaser makes it look like the new Ninja Turtles movies and it looks like it will have the same fate, a 5.9/6.1 movie on IMDB that tried to cash in on nostalgia and failed. I feel like people will jump on the bandwagon and then quietly get off again. I feel like its going to be average at its absolute best. And I'm aware of the first two movies from 1995 & 1997 and what complete dog s**t they were. Somethings just don't translate well into movies.

Not sold on it yet. It looks too dark, even stylistically from the aesthetic alone. Also not sold on the outfits.
It looks like it has none of the campy charm of the original series. I hope they prove me wrong, but right now it looks like a young-adult dystopian book to movie adaptation.
