They want him to be the leading man of the company, but he doesn't have a strong enough fan base to allow him so. Ambrose has a stronger fan base but he's not marketable in a way Vince likes his top guys.

Turning him heel will allow Reigns to develop the character he needs to get the fanbase on his hide, and who cares if they cheer him when he turns, isn't that the company's' goal?

The way he's going right now will not do him any favors. It's not fair to him because he works his ass off and it's not fair to the fans. I'm in the minority because I want him to succeed. He's very underrated in the ring and still has potential, the only thing that's killing him is his booking. You can't book a 6'3, badass somoan dude as a struggling, underdog babyface. It just doesn't work.
