I've seen this guy live and watched some of his New Japan matches and I will say that he's an excellent wrestler and very entertaining to watch but having said that on the main roster it could be a very different story.
People used to rave about Ambrose and Reigns but look at them now. Reigns gets booed out of buildings and fans are slowly turning on Ambrose so if this Nakamura isn't booked to perfection the general audience could turn on him and possibly give him silent reactions.

If he goes to SmackDown? Probably.
If he goes to RAW? Less likely.

If WWE doesn't give up on his character after a month or so, then probably.

As long as he goes to Smackdown and they allow him to continue being himself and not water him down. Then yes he 100% will be.

Being a success on NXT and being a success on the main roster are 2 entirely different things.

If ya wanna know how well Nakamura will do on the main roster, just take a look at Sami Zayn.
Apparently, Nakamura and Zayn had the match of the year at Takeover Dallas. Now, I seen that match, and I didn't care for it, but if people think it is great, then so be it.
But once he comes up to the main roster, they won't know what to do with him. He can't speak fluent english, so that's gonna be a strike against him. He's not huge like Sheamus, Reigns, or Rusev, so that's another strike against him.
To be honest, I don't see Nakamura doing much on the main roster. Maybe a IC or US Title reign - depending on what shoe he ends up on. But he won't connect with the wider audience that is the WWE Universe. Kind of like how when Balor debuted and only half the audience was doing that arm thing he does to certain parts of his theme song. The hardcore NXT and indy wrestling fans will like Nakamura, the casual fan won't care.

Being a success on NXT and being a success on the main roster are 2 entirely different things. He's a success in NJPW, ROH and NXT. He isn't a 'former FCW Champion' like Roman Reigns, or an Indy Darling like Dean Ambrose, he's a 2015 Wrestling Observer Hall of Famer. It's not the same. You can't make that comparison.

To be successful in WWE being a great wrestler simply isn't good enough. You need character and a reason for people to care. Now Nakamura has a good look that will attract kids but I honestly can see him being on a Sami Zayn level. Balor would've been in the same boat if it wasn't for his Demon King stuff.

Once he debuted back in April, he automatically clicked with the audience. He's a very tall dude with a unique look and ring presence, he's not your vanilla wrestler in trunks 101. He speaks english pretty well, but I dont think that will hurt him. If you think size will hold him back, take a look at the top 2 guys on the respective brands holding the belts. Unless they completely sabotage him, or he he gets injured, I think he'll be a huge hit.

I think Sami is just stuck in limbo because he's on Raw, they obviously don't have plans for him in the immediate future. Neville on the other hand, would be better suited for the cruiserweight division. He hasn't had a meaningful program since his debut on the main roster.

It honestly looks like he's never even lifted a weight in his life. I showed a friend of mine a Nakamura match once, and he laughed. He said, "he has no muscle!" Owens and Styles are at least built. Owens - who has put on some extra weight - is still big. He is believable in a bar fight. AJ Styles has muscle definition and has amazing an amazing set of moves in the ring. Where as Nakamura just kicks a lot and does weird, erotic, questionable mannerisms in the ring with the guys he wrestles.

I wish they would give him the US title because it would give him a reason to exist on Raw.

If you watch the current product in japan, 95% of the guys aren't that built. Size has nothing to do with how the audience will invest and react to you anymore. Shinsuke has everything you need to succeed in the current product. I'm sure the brass of WWE would rather him keep his uniqueness rather than gain a few pounds of muscle to appease them.

Because Reigns' character is nothing without a title. Sami's underdog persona will only take him so far without a meaningful program, sooner than later he'll have to do something. I thought a program with him and a returning Luke Harper would have been cool, but Harper went to Smackdown.

I think he has a better chance on Smackdown. I think he would play well with babyface authority figures.

He's been one of my must see competitors in WWE since his arrival. But I really dont think his transgression to Raw/SmackDown is going to be successful, when comparing his English to the likes of Hideo Itami its really not that great. The NXT are generally more "in-tune" with wrestling outside of the WWE and will already know Nakamura, its gonna be harder to get over with the mixed audiences at the main stage especially if he cant get a message across.
Does Nakamura have a speech impediment or is it his accent? Itami seems to speak really quite clearly and sometimes I have to think about what Nakamura is saying.
