The Flair-Murdoch/DiBiase angle from Mid-South Wrestling.
Definitely more memorable for the 2 guys that became babyfaces. Dick Murdoch went from long time babyface and North American Champion to the most hated guy in the territory. Ted DiBiase became the sympathetic babyface during the World Title match with Flair, full-fledged face, and so did his long-term tag partner, Dr. Death Steve Williams. Dr. Death became the biggest face in the company after Ted left for WWF, and a huge star in Japan.

It worked in 1996 when Yoko and Fuji left Camp Cornette though. But there was something unsettling about seeing Mr. Fuji wave an American flag at Wrestlemania XII in the corner of Yoko, Jake and Ahmed. I think that may have been his final WWE appearance too. I agree.
And you're correct WM 12 was his last appearance in the WWF. But that brief face turn in 96 was nothing to write home about. You could tell he was uncomfortable as hell in that role in the very few appearances he made during that time period.
Actually, Yoko fought on the free-for-all leading up to Summer Slam 96. He lost to Austin after the turn buckle broke while he was trying to do the bonzai drop & also was at Survivor Series 1996.
