In my local area I have 2 toy shops Smyths and Toys R Us. Toys R Us arent worth talking about because they barely carry WWE stuff anymore but Smyths however have a huge section. But it's clogged and when I say clogged I mean clogged. They currently have all their WWE stuff as buy 3 get 1 free and still none of it is moving.
Its so bad that Elite 44 and 45 are still in their cases because they don't have spaces for them on the pegs Surprisingly their worst shelf warmers are Elite 43 Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and all the Elite Legends. A lot of the basic figures prices have been reduced and they got the new DM Cena in but most of them had to be put in the warehouse because their boxes were taking up too much space.
Now I know one of the stores workers and he said that the staff dread to see new WWE stuff coming in because it's one of their worst selling toys.
I have to ask is it just my area or is the rest of the UK and US having this problem aswell?

This isn't going to end well...
Plenty of people on here would give their right arms to have the "shelf-warming" selection u have.
And no, supply and demand. Mattel are likely just making more

This past year definitely shook my faith. A lot of reliance on friends and travel was required to even get anything good. Luckily, my closest Walmart put basics down to $7.44 and the pre-Christmas early shoppers are actually beginning to clear out the duds. Their selection, no joke, was Dolph Ziggler, Triple H, Big Show, Bray Wyatt, and Bo Dallas. That was it. They had dozens of each. But like I saod, there's light at the end of that dark, dark tunnel.

I believe that while Mattels sales may remains high, the shelves are clogged because there are too many figures out right now. Rereleases Network exclusives Regular DM's, More figures in basic waves, A flood of Elite waves recently, Walgreens, Then Now forever, Hall Of Fame SDCC
even the most diligent of collectors is struggling to keep up. There has simply been too much in the last 2-3 months
The weakened pound has pushed the prices up as well. 24 quid for a 2 pack. They simply won't sell at that price.
My ebay sales have fallen sharply as well, and I've seen lots of large collections auctioned off individually lately. Figures that rarely appear, like Kevin Von Erich , has been on 4-5 times in the last few weeks.
GREEDY

Yes, they're less popular, that's why they're ending the Elite line.

You simply don't need shops anymore. Free delivery. No gas needed. Time is money.
Dodgy paint app or crushed box.? Complain. they usually let you keep it.

I thinks it's a combination of things.
1. WWE is less popular. Just look at the ratings.
2. Prices are always going up for the same thing. A lot of people could get turned off by the price point.
3. Online retailers hurt a lot of stores. Just look at any figure line. If any line can even get in stores the amount of space is decreasing and the product generally takes a long time to move. Just this past weekend I saw that Marvel Legends is down to just one of those mid aisle fixtures and Star Wars is down to an end cap. NECA has completely disappeared. WWE had maybe a third of an aisle.

For some reason it hasn't impacted my collecting habits yet, but I can guarantee it will have for a lot of people Prices are going up, quality is going down .... and like maske2g said, there's like 4 million lines now. Smyths was doing okay shifting stuff before it had to worry about an overpriced Hall of Fame line, Zombies, Summerslam Heritage and Legends. Not including the standard Elites, Basics and Battlepacks There's just too much stuff out there, way too much. Those 'Tough Talkers' or whatever they're called? Great, they look great! I'm sure some people will buy them, but if they buy a Tough Talker it'll likely be at the expense of rather than as well as another figure. Meaning the shelves are just gonna get fuller, retailers are gonna have to sell their stuff at discount prices, and the big cheeses at these stores are gonna start re-thinking their strategy...

They're making way too much stuff. Both in stock numbers and the number of figures. They're too many exclusives and there are more figures per series

smyths wouldnt keep ordering the quantities that they do if they were a poor seller. I think everyone can tell you that there is NOWHERE in the United states with the massive selections that smyths offers. Enjoy it.
