19.99 isnt expensive. Theyve hovered at that price for years. And their QC has always been iffy I have figures from over the years that have botched paint apps

Could the dip in ratings have ANYTHING to do with Game 1 of the Cleveland/Chicago World series? The low ratings are a combination of many things. The rosters are split so if people only like say New Day for example then they'll watch Raw only. I'm a fan so I'll watch anyways however before the split I rarely watched SD because it was a repeat of Raw most of the time. I like the split much better each show has its unique stars and identity it will eventually need to be freshened up through trades and a draft. Cena is also gone right now and ratings always dip it seems when he leaves. Among other things tv is changing people are cutting the cord and there's dvr. This isn't just a WWE thing either NFL is getting it's lowest ratings ever even more so in prime time games. I just think the whole ratings system should be overhauled and it really in the grand scheme of things doesn't mean as much as it used to. WWE just had a record year for revenue last year I believe so I don't think they're hurting.

I'm sure Bill absolutely cannot wait until he can release Hollywood Hogan and Goldberg figures.

I don't know about the figures losing popularity but this forum sure has, it seems like the people who contribute w/ pics or autograph signings get ignored or made fun of and the arrogant trolls who always try to be funny are runnin' wild brother! I hear you man, there sure are alot more toolbags on this forum for sure.

dont worry guys. post pics of shelves on dec 26th and see what they look like! If Walmart does their usual bullcrap, they'll be overflowing still and loaded to bear with Triple H, Big Show, John Cena, and Daniel Bryan.

It will more than likely look just like they do now. E38 DB's, E34 Wade Barrett's, E34 Rusevs, 5 different Orange/Blue carded Bryans that all look the same, and the usual SIDS and Mizdows Because if they happen to put out new stuff. It will probably sell through And most of this crap was there before LAST Christmas

Let that sink in. They had those early in 2014. It is October 2016. The gold and blue card Daniel Bryans arent likely to go anywhere, especially when he now has short hair and doesnt wrestle anymore.

Simply put, the figures have gotten too expensive. I don't think it's just Elites that are expensive - it's more a case of everything being more expensive these days... how much are similar "collectors" lines like the Star Wars Black Series 6" and Marvel Legends in the US? Because over here, Elites are still a few pounds cheaper than them...

My local Smyths is ridiculously overstocked. Boxes and boxes of new series on top of the shelves because pegs are rammed with elites from the last six series, mostly flashbacks and NXT figures. And Mizdow, so many Mizdow.
They are ordering way too much, prices are up and it seems demand is down. That's a recipe for a bubble ready to burst.
A basic two pack now costs pretty much twice what an elite did when the Mattel figures first came out. Elites cost 50% more than they did then. Yet single basics are the same price they've always been.

Another update on amyths Beckton.
They have always sold there.
Last time I was there I said to the manager I didnt think figs were selling as well based off my Ebay experiences recently, and their mental stock.
Today, after a week of 3 for 2, and 20 quid off if you spend 100, effectively meaning you can get 9 elites for 80 quid if you have a couple of discounted ones, the shelves are still RAMMED.
Backstocked to Elite 40. Tons of Joe. 6 additional crates of Elite 44 up top, 10 or so other shippers and a massive container of about 100 figures at the front of the shop whoch must have had another 15 Elite 44 machos and Elite 44 for days...
Bad times if Smyths pull the plug.

Mattel could help out by giving a discount/credit on the junk thats not selling so walmarts, targets, etc could unload poor selling figures.
If certain figures don't sell then stores need to be able to mark them down to get rid of them. Take the junk mark them half off and throw in carts to unload.
If mattel does not solve this problem and soon, amazon is going to totally take over. It would not be a good thing if one of these big retailers pulls all wwe figures.

I think another factor is that the line has a lot more competition now than it used to. When I started collecting WWE two years ago, some of the most popular 6" collector lines were on the ropes. DC Universe Classics had died a slow and painful death, buyer fatigue had set in with Masters of the Universe Classics, Marvel Legends was just beginning to get back on it's feet after being saved by the success of the films, Star Wars Black was going downhill fast after a promising start, DC Direct had become antiquated and obsolete, etc. Now Marvel Legends is booming, Star Wars Black has rebounded after The Force Awakens breathed new life into the franchise, DC Collectibles has rolled out several well received 6" figure lines, Mezco has rolled out their One 12 Collective line, and Hot Toys, S.H. Figuarts, Figma, and other high end lines are pumping out more figures than ever.
As for the WWE line itself, buy the end of 2014, Mattel was hitting one home run after another. Now they're hitting more singles and doubles. It's not the designs that are the problem, it's the production. Aside from the well-documented QC issues, the paint apps themselves just aren't as sharp, so the scans have less detail, and just aren't coming alive the way they used to. I think production costs went up, the retail price remained fixed, and the shortfall had to be made up though cheaper factories with weaker QC. Singles and doubles are still hits, but when your fan base has come to expect home runs, and a lot of your competition is hitting home runs, you're going to lose traction.

This is not to be negative because I am excited about this line and what's to come after SDCC and yesteray. But I keep going back to the 4th DM last year. One of these guys who did a Q & A with Bill, said he took it as it was Owen. That's all well and good
My question is if MDT can spend whatever tooling, design, time, planning, etc on someone who will "never" sign with WWE, so much that they had to re release SDCC Undertaker (biggest DM flop so far)
If they did that, why on earth would they not have already done that with maybe the simplest mega star ever, Goldberg?
That is a major problem when it comes to WWE Mattel and losing popularity. The turnaround time

Nailed it, but I do think wrestling lack of popularity has some factoring in...
