I hit lvl 43 today and complete every quest I could before having to visit the waterfall at the beginning of chapter 3. Having to work 14 hrs today and tomorrow really blows, I'm totally engulf in the game.
The annoyances I'm experiencing is the dialogue between the group gets repetitive. Also, I think there was a stereotype about black people thrown in there.... If anyone started questing for the diner guy in Cids outpost, let me know if what you think. It's funny, but only because it's in the game; intentional or not.

Final Fantasy IV is my favorite game of all time, just to lend show where I am coming from. But so far, I have played about 30 hours, though I am barely into the main story. Been doing lots of side quests, exploring, and fishing. I am really enjoying this game so far, as someone who hated XIII. The open world and side quests are different for the series, and I can see that turning away some of the old hardcore fans. But also making it more accessible to new entrants to the series. As much as I loved old JRPGs, it's not a format that sells very well anymore. While I wish the character designs were a bit less J-POP, the dynamic between the four characters has really grown on me. I was skeptical about this game, but so far I am really enjoying it. I haven't seen the Kingsglaive movie, but I get the gist of what is going on so far. Also Square has some big updates to the game planned that will change the game. Supposedly very soon there is an update coming to chapter 13 that will improve it greatly. So if you haven't gotten to it yet, you may want to slow down until the update. I hit lvl 43 today and complete every quest I could before having to visit the waterfall at the beginning of chapter 3. I didn't progress the story too much. Still in chapter 3, heading towards the meteor with the creepy guy. I came across a lvl 54 (about 20ft) cobra on my way to the waterfall and decided to engage it at begin lvl 43. It was tough, but man did it feel cool!
Besides the main story, all I can do is hunt. I unlocked lvl 4 hunts last night. By doing the side quest, I've found to temples, so I have 5 of the pieces that Noctis is collecting.

I'm thinking I'm going to reach chapter 5. Was doing some research on how to farm AP and you can farm hundreds of them with in an hours time.

Got to a side quest taking me to Castlemark Tower. Noctis and the guys were nearing lvl50, but thanks to this dungeon, they are lvl53, and we had no choice to retreat. It's quite a challenge, did one set of puzzles and fought 1 red iron giant (lvl42) with a bunch of other monsters, did another puzzle and fought 2 red iron giants with a bunch of monsters. I didn't feel like I could face a set of 3 giants or the actual boss fight so I had to leave to get stronger.
If you stumble across here, do your research. Nice and challenging! Some people say they get to the boss fight on first puzzle (maze) attempt, but a majority of people say it's randomly generated. I haven't found a good explanation or YouTube video to guide this area.

I have no updates for FF. On chapter 8 so far. The story is easy to get sucked into, but I had to get away from it to farm AP. I did an exp trick tonight, went from lvl57 to lvl67 in less than an hour. Can't do it again until I find some coins to mix with magic.

I wish the update would come soon for chapter 13. I think I am on Chapter 8. Level 52 I think. Just did the underground sewers to get the Headlights for the Regalia. The mini boss was tougher than the boss. Still really enjoying the game. Are there outfits which give different stats in the game? I was hoping there would be.

I'm in Chapter 9, made it to Altissa, and finished all 10 hunts (bar side-quest). Managed to hit level 73 thanks to the rare coins and magic technique. I'm glad square enix add exp multipliers at certain hotels. I have 663 AP. Hard to spend them. Everything gets so expensive on the ascension trees... however, I almost have all my stats tree complected. I have hardly any techniques filled though.
After playing the game some more, I can honestly say that it's a solid entry. I have a lot of fun with the side-quest and I love to here the musical score when I'm about to fight in an epic battle, especially when it's a random encounter in the wild. One of my favorite things to do is finish. They have challenges were you have to land the big one. I haven't caught to many notable fish, but I have hit 50 pounders. There is a lot of knit-picky stuff to complain about; the acting is inconsistent and camera angles interfere during narrow battles are the most notable. Personally hate Altissa's map. The gonadal rides works horribly considering at the loads. However, the load times are better than in the car. You just rely on the gondolas more during your questing in Altissa. Still a solid game.
EDIT: On chapter 10 now...

My characters are at level 99 now. I was to Costlemark Tower and managed to get to the boss battle; lvl58 Jabberwock. Won that and got nothing for my efforts. I exited back to the dungeon entrance and started the trek back down to the boss’s lair. At this point the game continued to the cut scene for a royal weapon and the scene for the boss battle. So I had to fight the boss again, but this time I had no control over my characters; I couldn’t use link combos or heal them. I couldn’t lock on the boss and the boss HP gauge was nowhere to be seen. I wasn’t sure if this bug would keep the boss from dying, but I decided to fight it and, lucky, I had a chance to summon and kill it.
I’m trophy cleaning right now. I’ve got to say, I hope Square Enix can add quality content. This has been a great world to explore and I wouldn’t mind spending addition time in this world.

I beat the dungeon and didn't get the weapon. Some people say there is a quest to kill the Jabberwock and if you have that it helps. I can't say for sure. I am only level 65 right now and at the end of the story.

I killed the Adamantoise last night. Took me three hours. Wow. It didn't feel too repetitive. And it wasn't all that difficult. But the reward will max out a character's HP so that is nice.

It took me an hour. The camera angles were annoying and he wasn't as difficult as I thought he would be. Trying to get the key from the old lady so I can do the secret dungeons, but I'm still not sure what I'm missing here. So, for now, I'm doing all the hunts I can... hopeful I get to beating all the main bosses that way.So did you platinum or finish your gamerscore list?

Took the day to AP farm. In an hours time, I can get around 1600 AP. The grind sucks, but I want to be maxed out when DLCs come around.
The AP enhancing gears do nothing for the farm. You have to engage in active battle to earn extra AP.
Also, going to fight Adamantoise 3 more time to farm the max HP gear.
