Crysis (1, 2, & 3), Skyrim, and Alan Wake are some of my favorite games on PC.
Steam has major sales throughout the year in particular Summer & Winter. Since we're very close to the Winter one, don't go too crazy buying games right now because you'll be able to get some for practically a few dollars.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will always be my top PC game recommendation. You can play it offline and no two runs are exactly the same. Plus it's very challenging, and rewarding once you get the hang of it.

FTL: Faster Than Light is one of my favourite games on steam. It's a roguelike with a lot of strategy elements so I can understand if it's not for everyone.
Rogue Legacy, Shovel Knight, and Freedom Planet are all great too for low prices.

Definitely what the guys said above me. Check out Diablo 3 maybe or Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together.
