'Broken' Matt Hardy
Jericho even with his time away still maintained his popularity. Hardy was always living in the shadow of his more talented brother and his career was pretty much dead in the water after those videos of him eating grapes. If only someone could post the video...

As much as I'm loving Chris Jericho's work this year, Matt's Broken gimmick has transcended not only his career but given TNA's a new lease of life too. The way that Matt has developed his character goes even further than Mic work, it's posed a whole new attitude towards filming wrestling programming, with countless movie-style story building vignettes. Plus, I find it incredibly refreshing to be able to watch WWE for programming and wrestling, but then watch TNA for Matt's comedy values.

It's 2016 and having Matt Hardys name, let alone being discussed as the best thing of 2016? That right there makes him the winner. Matt Hardy has been nothing except Jeff's brother. The V1 stuff was lame. Matt with Lita, Matt against Lita and Edge wasn't that great, etc, etc.
People are talking about Matt Hardy in positive ways for once. Hell, he even got me to like him now. That right there makes him the winner.
Jericho delivers more times then not. Sure he's been stale a couple of times but you can count on him being in some relevant storyline.

Broken Matt is better than anything going in WWE currently by far.
I will always be a Jericho fan but I gotta give Matt the nod here. The gimmick is gold.

I would say Matt Hardy, because he changed everything about himself. And he got the internet talking about him again, but this time in a positive way. Jericho was always gonna be a star, because he is still in WWE. So he was gonna be seen weekly, fans were still gonna cater to him. Matt didn't have that with being in TNA. So Broken Matt Hardy is the man! He and Brother Nero are even coming to ROH to challenge the Young Bucks for the ROH Tag Titles. Yep a video of him played after the bucks match on the ROH. pay per view the other night. and the crowd lost their minds. |

Jericho's been a top star in WWE since mid-to-late 2000, and that wouldn't change even if the Stupid Idi-IT List stuff didn't exist. Matt Hardy elevated himself with the Broken character
