Sorry if this doesn't belong here. I was reading a interview with Edge and found this piece and I thought it was interesting to share... Fact or fiction: You had your next angle in mind if you were not forced to retire in 2011. Edge: Fact. I had my next year mapped out in my brain and had been talking to everyone about it. I assumed I had at least a year left. That’s what I had on my contract, and I really, really wanted to see it through and work up until the last day of my contract. That’s just the way I was raised and the way I’m wired. I was champion and I wanted to pass this on to whomever it was eventually, so it really hit home when I was told, ‘We’re not going to allow you to compete anymore.’ We did have a tentative plan to go forward once [Alberto] Del Rio and I were through our program. Christian would have cost me the title to Del Rio, and then we would have moved on and done our thing – and I thought he would retire me at WrestleMania. That’s how I wanted to go out. I wanted to do the favor, drop the title, and then have Christian be the cause – then spend the final few months of my career wrestling my lifelong best friend, and really have him go off in a great heel direction once I retired. I remember hearing about that years ago. But thanks for the info for those who may not have known!

It would have been much better that as his last match than Alberto Del Boring.

Eh I'm sure that's what Edge wanted but I would have hoped Vince would have had it the other way around and have him beat Christian in his last match. Christian just isn't a main eventer and I can't see why he was pushed as far as he was. Anyone actually remember him being a world champ?? I was at the MITB when he won. Nobody cared.

Just because you didn't care doesn't reflect everyone else's view on it. Watch the MITB ppv again and the reaction he got. Also, I was there as well, so, not sure what you were watching.

Based on the way everything played out over the next year, I think we probably got the best case scenario.
Had Edge not retired, I doubt Christian becomes a world champion. Also, it sounds like his hope was to put Christian over on his way out of WM28. Christian was hurt & ended up missing WM28. At least we were able to see Edge go out on top & not is a nothing feud with someone other than Christian.

I would've loved to see that idea but I Christian ended up getting hurt.

TNA made him a star and people wish WWE did the same thing. I believe he should of won it in 2003/2004 on RAW but 2011 was the next best opportunity since the Smackdown roster wasn't the best

I know the plan was always to turn Christian heel. And when Edge was forced to retire, they had Christian win the title as a face only to loose it so quickly to Orton. And I hated how short his reign was, but I understand it was done as the catalyst to turn him heel.

Well then I guess I'm the only person who thinks Christian always rode Edge's coattails and would never be anything if it weren't for Edge. And I was watching Christian win the world title by DQ and people were not caring at all. Maybe you were buying popcorn or something.

I enjoyed Christian and was happy he had a title reign in the WWE, but I honestly didn't feel he was WWE Championship material. To me he was an upper mid-card talent in the wwe.

an honorable way to go out! i was never big on christian or edge as talents, but edge proved to be a main event caliber heel and they're both clearly some quality people.

Sounds cool but Christian likely never becomes WHC if Edge was able to still compete, which would have been a shame considering Christian is one of the most underrated stars of all time IMO.
The way it seemed to me was that Edge was going to win the ladder match against ADR at Extreme Rules 2011. ADR gets drafted to Raw and still wins the MITB briefcase and feuds with Cena and Punk like he ended up doing did. Christian turns heel and then trades the WHC back and forth with Edge until Sunmerslam. I don't see ADR winning the WHC and staying on SD considering how much Vince valued him.

WWE dropped the ball on Christian in 2005.

That would of been awesome. Always felt like they dropped the ball using edge and Christian together after Christian returned from tna. I know they had one match I think in 2010 and they tagged up a few times before mania 27.

I would've been all for a Edge/Christian World Title feud.
