In terms of WWF. Easily 1991. Simply for the fact that in 12 months WWF literally had everyone that was anyone on their roster during that year. The only exceptions would have been Brain Busters who left 30 days earlier and Sting & Luger. One of which came a year later & the other never graced the WWF in that era.

That was a great year, but I liked 1990 better. 1991 was a little bittersweet with the Ultimate Warrior getting fired and Hulk Hogan leaving to film movies making it the last hurrah for the Hulkamania Era. By the end of the year, I was more interested in WCW and GWF than the WWF.

1989. Mega Powers explode. Warrior v Rude. The return of Piper. Rockers v Brain Busters. The list goes on. PLUS, Flair v Steamboat and then Flair v Funk.
this was the last year before any of the scandals started hurting the biz. 1990 Zahorian is busted. 1991 Hogan lies about steroids and then disappears for 2 months after Summerslam, after Warrior is suspended; the 2 biggest faces are gone. 1992 Steroid scandal is now full blown and the ring boy scandal starts. 1989 was the last great year. WM6 was the beginning of the end.

My favourite year was 1995. Though I know a lot of people hated it, I thought it was pretty damn fun and entertaining.
But the greatest year.... 1998 probably. It was the year that every wrestling promotion was on fire (WWE, WCW & ECW) and it was the year that wrestling became pop culture again.

1997 and 1999. So many things happened in both those years that moved the WWE forward and set it up for the future.

I started watching in 1998, that year was pretty wild. I'll probably go with 2003.

In my opinion (because I doubt anyone else would share this opinion), the greatest “WWE” year is from WrestleMania X7 on April 1, 2001 to WrestleMania X8 on March 17, 2002.

I've been watching so long, it really is hard to say.
1986-87 stands out to my as maybe my favorite era of wrestling ever though.

1991 - the WWF had every top name: Hogan, Warrior, Roberts, Boss Man, LOD, Flair, Savage, Slaughter, Taker, e.t.c....
personally I thought 1991 was flawless, and way better than WCW at that particular time, WWF started to suck a bit in 1992 though, Hogan left, Bulldog left, Warrior left, and who can forget the lovely infamous steroid trial?

WM6 was the beginning of the end. I've been been binge watching a lot over the past two or so years from different WWF/E eras and have been making my way through 1989 lately ... I've got to say, from mid-88 to mid-89 (where I'm at right now) is really spectacular and way better than I expected. When I was a kid, didn't really get into it until '93 so I'm enjoying a lot of this for the first time (even if I know the big PPV results). It's awesome though, and I'm going to do the deep dive into 1989 WCW sometime because I know that's one of their best years too. I'd also have to agree with 1997 being on that list, such a unique progression, and as a Bret Hart mark it's some of the most interesting stuff he ever did. Amazing how the best can do their thing as both a face and a heel. I'm a few months into 1998 and it hasn't struck me like 1997 did. It's funny how perspective can change, however, when you're older. As a kid I loved 1994-95 ... re-watching 94, other than WM 10 it's quite the slog ...

97 or 98. I wouldnt be a fan if it wasnt for those years.
Austin/Goldberg, DX/NWO, Crow Sting/Lord of Darkness Undertaker
TV remote hitting the return channel from TNT to USA Monday nights. In 99 or so I just started recording Nitro and watching Raw live. Didnt have access to ECW, but knew it was a thing.

2000 had so many great matches and pay per views. I bet there are tons of forgotten matches that year that would be hailed in most other years as a MOTY contender. Things like HHH vs. Jericho at Fully Loaded (an often forgotten great PPV).
