From what I remember Kane debut his reverse attire in 1999 when he teamed with X Pac. However the reverse attire was Kane's alternate gear in the WWF Warzone video game which was released in mid 1998.
Now my question is how was that gear in a video game 1 year before it appeared on TV? Did Kane wear it at House shows around that time?

They made it up so if two people wanted to be Kane you could tell who was who. That's what I heard, at least.

They made it up so if two people wanted to be Kane you could tell who was who. That's what I heard, at least. Pretty much. Every character in that game had an alternate attire. Some were entrance shirts/vests, a few were throwback looks and others were just different colored attires. Kane had really only worn that one attire since he debuted so I guess the easy solution for his alternate was to just swap the colors. It's a pretty amazing feat that Kane even made the game. He debuted in October '97 and Warzone was released the following July. Apparently, programming the character models back then was a very long, very tedious process which might explain why the roster was so damn outdated by the time the game came out. Speaking of obscure Kane attires, I think it was an early episode of Sunday Night Heat where they showed Kane backstage entering the arena. He was wearing like a bright blue track suit. That look combined with the mask, it was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen in wrestling. Kane scanning through the running apparel racks at Modell's is a pretty amusing image.

The attire is not completely accurate to what he really wore either. The inverted attire in real life had mesh parts and he had the Zigzag flames on both legs, while on the Warzone game he had the stitching on his left leg like his debut attire and no mesh parts. It was just a color swap but pretty cool because he ended up wearing something really similar. I think his Mask was also not inverted.

Man, I mean no matter what a jogging suit on a guy like Kane is going to look ridiculous, but they really couldn't just find him a red one to at least kinda, sorta match his character? It looks just as silly as I remember. Appreciate the confirmation.

Didn't the TTL figure of Kane in reverse colors also come out months before he'd changed? I seem to remember it looking nearly identical to the War Zone model (awful head aside) with the stitching and all.

Kane started wearing that attire around August 1999 and BCA's were still being made at that point. The TTL figure that you speak of wasn't released until early 2000.
