Hi all, I'm a long time lurker from the UK and thought I'd sign up at last and share what I have so far. Nothing staggering by some of you hardcore guys' standards, but it's steadily increasing.
As a bit of background, I was a massive WWE fan growing up, and from my username you can probably guess who my number one guy was! Being in my 30s I grew up right in the middle of the Hasbro era and managed to get every figure from every series barring the mail aways and 123 kid. When I was about 13 or 14 though my parents told me I was "too old for dolls" so had to give (yeah, give!!) them all away, including my ring with sound effects (which I think was exclusive to us in Europe?). I carried on watching WWE though up until around 2002-3 when I got bored with the lacklustre invasion crap and moved on.
Fast forward to 2015 and a random trip to Toys R Us and I saw DM Hogan staring back at me! Now despite being a Warrior fan, I think any kid growing up in the late 80s and early 90s had a soft spot for the Hulkster too. So I grabbed it, started looking at what else Mattel was turning out and well, here I am!
So, my Warriors so far! I'm still trying to find a reasonably priced WM7 DM as I still think it's the best version, but seeing as we didn't get them here in the UK, they're hard to find. I love the L6 re-release and for now at least it's definitely my favourite. The HOF version was too good to pass up despite being a US import, I think Mattel nailed that one as well. The L4 was a must have for me too, that Summerslam '88 moment had me bouncing on my sofa as a kid! The Champions basic was an impulse grab due to the belt, I'm not really a basic fan but it's not a bad fig in my opinion. That leaves the latest UM DM, I know it's taken some flak on here, and I agree it's not really a DM worthy figure, but it's still an iconic attire and looks great displayed with Macho Man. I'm hoping we get the Warrior/Shango 2-pack here otherwise I'll grab it on US Amazon once it becomes available.
With HBK being such a big part of the 90s I've grabbed the 2 most recent Elite releases over here and will hopefully be adding the WM12 version once available at Smyths. The Network Spotlight Michaels with ladder wouldn't be complete without Razor would it?! So the Bad Guy's DM was a must have too, another great fig in my opinion. The takers were the versions I remember best from being a kid, the WM heritage being pretty much how he looked at SS'91 against Hogan, the E23 re-release nails his purple mid 90s run for me too. As for the SDCC style DM, again I know it's not overly popular on here, bit Ministry Undertaker was probably his coolest persona to me, so I had no problem grabbing it. As for Lita, she was my girlfriend's favourite "diva" so when we saw it for £10 in Smyths it was a no brainer.
Next up is the DM Hogan that pulled me back in to the game, another iconic look from my childhood. The HOF Macho King and MDM were bought because they were such staples of the late 80s/early 90s viewing experience for me, and because they're great figs too. Same for Rick Rude, I hated him as a kid due to the Warrior rivalry, but there's no denying he carried those matches and made them what they were. A unique character as well, so another Smyths bargain worth getting.
E39 Bulldog, no explanation needed really what with me being British! The Hart Foundation was a must have, after Warrior and Hogan departed, Bret Hart was my guy right up until his WCW departure, and before that him and Neidhart was my favourite tag team. The Nasty Boys were grabbed because their rivalry with the Hart Foundation was a memorable moment for me, obviously leading to Bret's singles run.
Ignore the Jakks giant! 😂 Stone Cold was and still is my girlfriend's all time favourite, and I was a fan too, so I grabbed what I consider his 2 best versions. I'd love the earlier DM, but they're so hard to find here in the UK. The HOF and late DM are both great though.
I've got E6 Goldust and the WM30 Hitman coming in the mail at the moment and I'll be getting the E47.5 version of Goldie once available as well. As mentioned at the top, WM7 and WM8 Warriors are definitely on the shopping list, with the E30 LOD figs, hopefully alongside Legends Demolition as well as the DM Bret Hart at some stage (when I can find them!). E16 Diesel is on the list as well, but I might stand a better chance if I wait for the upcoming version with the IC title instead. Other than them I'll grab whichever flashbacks standout to me, hopefully we get the Natural Disasters over here eventually because they look great! Sorry for the long/boring post!!
