Does anyone know the story behind this photo, particularly him holding both the spinner and undisputed titles? I know Cena had some bloody battles with JBL but I don't remember him holding both titles at the same time.

Just before Judgment Day, JBL got the old belt back and proclaimed himself as the real WWE champion. When Cena beat him at JD, he took both titles, and the Undisputed title disappeared for good after the event.

Only other time it showed up again was a new version of it that Vince McMahon had with him backstage in late 05. I think he implied he was going to give it to Kurt if he was to beat Cena at Unforgiven (thus why it had a Kurt Angle nameplate). That's the only picture I can find, and it's in a Youtube Video.

I remember the match but I didn't order that ppv so I didn't get all the details! My friend did get the ppv and we talked about the blood all day haha.

Judgment Day PPV matches against JBL never ended pretty for the WWE Champion.
In 2004, Eddie Guerrero was a bloody mess, and in 2005, so was John Cena!

I think it would've been cool to see them swap between the Undisputed and Spinner titles depending on if Cena was champ or not.

Damn that spinner belt was not only ugly but a disgrace to all world titles before it.

I always loved the Undisputed Championship belt, I wish they would've brought it back for everyone that beat Cena for the Championship and just leave the spinner belt to Cena.

After Cena unveiled the new spinner belt shortly after WrestleMania 21, JBL continued to to carry the original title around, saying that the belt he carried was the true WWE Championship and that he was it's true champion. He would continue to carry it up until Judgment Day where he lost to Cena in an I Quit match. After the match, Cena held up both titles in triumph.
The Undisputed title would make a similar appearance later that year on Raw when Eric Bischoff brought it back in similar fashion when he and Kurt Angle were feuding with Cena. Bischoff tried to award the title to Angle on the September 19, 2005 Raw before Vince McMahon interrupted and took the belt away. I believe this was the belt's last ever appearance on television.

Especially when a heel was holding the title, it made no sense, storyline wise, why they would want to be walking around with a belt that was associated with Cena. And the sad thing is, after a time, the belt didn't even fit Cena anymore.
