The 96 run was plagued by WWF not living up to their end of the contract, so Warrior tried using the only leverage he had, himself, and no-showed some house shows. Neither was necessarily in the right, but what happened...happened.
The Goldust feud could have been decent but Goldust was injured and couldn't perform a match at IYH7. Just seemed like the whole run wasn't meant to be. They really could have built something quickly after WM12, but it didn't seem like there was much direction in terms of where the run was going to end up. Though his last match on Raw, vs Owen Hart, was a very good match to go out on.
He had been a darker character for quite some time and would have been fine in the attitude era.
