Batista spoke with DailyDead for a new interview and here are the highlights... On his return in 2014: “It really sucked. It didn’t have anything to do with me or anything, there was just a lot going on behind the scenes…It was the company, man. They really just screwed me over. I was banging my head against the wall every day. It’s one of those things, I wish people knew how hard I fought to be there and how hard I fought to just give them the best matches and performances that I could. But it was an everyday struggle dealing with the company. It was such a f***ing nightmare.” On staying longer: “I stayed longer than I should have, actually…What most fans don’t realize is that I stayed an extra month. The reason I had to leave was because I had to go and do press for Marvel for Guardians of the Galaxy. They were actually nice enough to let me stay an extra month. They wanted me to stay that extra month and work with Daniel Bryan at another pay-per-view, but I just thought that didn’t even make sense. We were just starting the Evolution thing, so why couldn’t we run with that instead of me putting Daniel over again, which I just did at WrestleMania? We’re not going to have a better match there than we did at Mania. Let’s just work more with Evolution and build these guys up. So we did. Then right after we built the hell out of them and they were so strong as a unit, they broke them all up. I said, ‘What is wrong with you guys?'” "And not only that, but here’s how messed up they are. I said to them, because I wanted to come back for SummerSlam, 'Wouldn’t it be great if I came back right when I’m also in the biggest film in the world?' Literally, it was Hunter [Triple H] and Stephanie [McMahon] who laughed at me, and Hunter goes, 'We don’t even know if it’s going to be any good.' I swear to God. But I wanted to go back for SummerSlam, and they didn’t want me to come back. I think because they thought it was such a failure, that run, and it wasn’t a failure because of me. Sorry, I’m venting now." click here for the full interview.

Batista has every right to vent and he shouldn't come back unless he gets treated properly this time

He's absolutely right. WWE ed him royally during that run. He told them before he came back: "Being a face isn't going to work. They want Daniel to win the Rumble, not me." But they didn't listen, did they? He worked his ass off when he came back, and they just treated him like crap.

I feel bad for him every time I hear about his 2014 run. They really have some of the dumbest people running that company bts.. I agree so much about the shield split. While all 3 are boneafide main eventers, the split just made no sense timing wise. Proving twice how strong all 3 are as a unit by beating one of WWEs most dominant factions TWICE and then randomly having one betray the others.. it could have been done a lot better

Batista definitely got ed when WWE refused to let him return as a heel. That speaks volumes about their ignorance over everything that was happening with Daniel Bryan at that time too. The SummerSlam thing kills me, and just goes to show you how much of a bubble they're in. It's one thing to not think Guardians is going to do well, but it's an entirely different situation to watch it do well and then not bring Batista back as a babyface after that success. Batista was in James Bond, made a movie with De Niro, and he's going to be in the Blade Runner sequel. Why on Earth do you not want him in bed with you right now??? No, go get Shaq instead... I disagree with him about the Shield though. I think that was the perfect opportunity to break them all up. Given they've all become main event talent, I think it's hard to argue against it. There was nothing left for the Shield to do at that point in time. Evolution was the mountain top, and then we got some truly awesome stuff out of Rollins and his matches with Ambrose, and then eventually that WM31 moment. All of that came out of Evolution putting those guys over as next level stars. I think it's awesome Batista is doing so well as Drax and outside of wresting. I have no doubt he's frustrated with how he left WWE, but as successful as he was in WWE, I truly think he's better off now. He shouldn't be losing sleep over it.

Batista is right but his last run wasn't really bad. It just started bad and I guess time was wasted recovering. He didn't good work though.

He's also stated when/if he comes back he only wants to work house shows. He doesn't trust creative, and shouldn't based on what happened in 14

Or why not bring him back as a part-timer like give him a Brock type deal or a Goldberg deal with limited dates rather than trying to bring him back full time

I do agree Batista was screwed over in 2014. He should have been a heel from the start instead of being shoved as a babyface for the first month and a half. I wish Vince would realise that they should do the same with Roman. I was surprised when Batista didn't come back at Summerslam. Im also surprised HHH would pretty much laugh at Batista. Ive always known HHH to be a good guy when it comes to his friends

WWE was in a difficult spot at that time. Yes, Batista was promised the WWE Title, and yes he got a raw deal and they didn't hold up their end of the deal. However, Daniel Bryan was the right person at that time. There was no way to not give him the belt based on the fan reactions he was getting.
I think when it was clear Daniel Bryan was going to have to surrender the belt due to injury, they should have put the belt on Batista and made it up to him, rather than giving it to John Cena. They owed it to Batista and should have made good on it.

Batista should stop talking about his 2014 run, he should just focus on his life of making movies and ing hot women

He wasn't available to come back until SummerSlam, so unless they mailed him the belt, he wouldn't have been WWE champion while promoting Guardians of the Galaxy. And as much as the haters might have enjoyed Brock squashing Batista for the title at SummerSlam, it definitely wouldn't have compared to how much they enjoyed Brock squashing Cena.

I could have sworn that in the last week or two, someone said something to him on twitter about how he was screwed over during this run. He countered by basically saying the exact opposite. Kinda strange.

He's right. WWE screwed up right at the start by bringing him back as a face.

Batista screwed Batista.
Seriously, why even go back? He's making good money and movies, and he's actually good in his movies. Why mess that up working for the WWE again and risk getting hurt for real and not being able to make movies again. He has nothing to prove to the WWE. Screw it, work for Impact for a few shows. They'll kiss his ass and put him over.

Batista must have been so happy to tell this company to go screw themselves after he made it big, and Vince met with him to try and get him to be the special guest referee at WrestleMania last year. It's funny how Batista, Punk, Ryback, etc. all have the same stories about being treated with such disrespect by this company. And people really think the WWE is going to be in better hands once Vince croaks?

He was right about The Shield. All 3 were destined to be big stars so a split didn't have to happen right away and with them getting put over twice by Evolution breaking them up made zero sense.
Maybe things would've worked out better for Reigns aswell.

I think saying he was screwed over is a bit excessive. Didn't go how he had hoped. Didn't go as many would have liked. But that's life sometimes. Least he still had a great WM main event. And two great matches with The Shield.
Triple H needs to learn the same thing every comic fan has... Don't ever doubt the Kevin Feige. He has the Midas touch.
I always wanted Batista to be the one to retire Triple H from being active competitor. Triple H never defeated him one on one and I'd like to have seen them use that as a story. Hopefully we haven't seen the last of Big Dave.
Does anyone else find it mildly amusing that the ones crying Batista was screwed are the same exact ones complaining about him taking Bryan spot back in 2014? Can't have it both ways. Somebody had to lose out.
