One of the things that's missing these days are humongous fat guys. I get tired of people acting like wrestlers suck unless they've got movesets like Dean Malenko. I'll take a giant porkchop smothering some guy in a corner or planting his colossal ass on someone's chest any day. This is one reason I keep rewatching wrestling from my childhood and getting bored with modern stuff, because there used to be so much more variety among wrestler types, which would create so many different kinds of matchups. Now I hear them hyping up how some chubby guy who looks like Larry Mondello with a beard weighs almost 300 pounds! I would like to introduce him to Jerry Blackwell from the old AWA, who weighed half a ton and stood less than 5 feet tall. He was taller laying down than standing up, but he could still do a dropkick (more like falling over backward while kicking his stump-like legs in the air, but still). Anyway... who's with me? I remember seeing Earthquake execute a nice dropkick that wowed the crowd. It was indeed impressive to see a guy who was that big suddenly soar. WWF/E used to be efficient at packaging monolithic guys like this, but they've become few and far between in the last 10 years or so.

Well Owens is getting up there, he's already fat and keeps adding the pounds. And you have Samoa Joe, he's fat too. Don't forget Nia Jax. She's fatter then fat.
I do miss legit good fat workers like Bundy and Gang along with Quake.

I do miss legit good fat workers like Bundy and Gang along with Quake. Samoa Joe is much thinner than he used to be. He was in great shape (for his body type) on RAW. Owens is a normal-sized guy with a gut, but not someone who could be fairly termed as a "big, fat guy". I think the OP was referring to giants with sumo wrestler bodies who were once WWF/E staples, but have become rarities like Brodus Clay. Maybe there is an NXT guy whom I'm omitting, but I can't think of anyone in company right now who has a build similar to Bundy, Gang, Vader, Tugboat, etc.

I just miss what wrestling used to be... so much.
today - it's wrestlers heading to the ring with thumping metal music, the themes are loud, obnoxious and in your face, and as I said in a previous post in this thread - I hate how the wrestlers MUST have fantastic bodies, and look like fitness models now - see to me, this isn't wrestling.
wrestling is a family event, where the parents take their kids to watch, eat some popcorn, the mother stands up in the front row, and complains to the referee about being 'blind as a bat' and unable to see the double cheating, while the real big fat guy is demolishing the fan-favourite - that is wrestling - not what we get today from WWE.

Fat wrestlers are essential to wrestling. They made it so fun to watch back in the day. Without em it just hurts the product even more than it already is.

These things bother me, and also that the moves are so contrived to look fancy and dazzling when really it's just a body slam that someone has overcomplicated.

Not what I'd call "fantastic bodies." And the big bad guy DOES destroy the fan favorite, it's just everybody cheers for the bad guy.

Depends the wrestler. A guy like King Kong Bundy who could actually wrestle without a doubt I miss. A guy like Uncle Elmer not so much. I don't think anyone misses Uncle Elmer to be honest

To each his own (there are Miz and Strowman apologist running around the world these days!) but, this is the first time in 20 years of scouring pro wrestling sites that I've seen someone claim that they thought Bundy was a good worker.
You know what a great year for fat guys was? '93. Vader, Bammer, Boss Man working his butt off in All Japan. Yoko wasn't setting the world on fire or anything, but he did get to kill Hulkamania.

I'm with you all around. I believe look and charisma is the most important thing about a wrestler. I've given up on the current product. I do have the network and follow the ppvs but usually skip to the matches that matter to me which is usually the older guys. I miss the days when you had to be a big guy one way or another but you still had a few guys that made up for size with wrestling skills and charisma. Piper, HBK, Hart etc.. these days it's all smaller guys but a couple big guys thrown in.

Vince made WWF a family event. But wrestling was not. And is not. If you watch any other company, major or indie, it's not like that. I went to a ROH house show last weekend. Out of the 500 or however many people were there, there was only about 10 kids. I actually counted. The 1st episode of LU, Dario says that you will not see little kids smiling in the crowd. Go to any indie show and count the number of kids in the crowd. It won't take long.

You miss them butthe top twp guys are the mostfat sorry You're missing Old Baby's main point. He misses the spectacle of massive wrestlers. Owens and Wyatt are built like heavyweight/275lbs high school wrestlers: stocky, powerful, explosive. They are both impressive, but they are a world apart from guys like the One Man Gang. Guys like Gang, Bundy, or Earthquake would hit someone with an avalanche in the corner, and the ring would shutter. The crowd would gasp, and their respective opponents would crumble like they had been put in an industrial press. That's not the kind of story that Wyatt or Owens tell when they're working.

Yokozuna is one of my favorite wrestlers from the New Gen era. He was pretty damn quick for his size in the early 90's, its too bad he wasn't so agile when he returned.
