I don't understand why 2016 was such a cluster f*** for figures. It has certainly made many of us reconsider collecting because you can only handle so much disappointment that collecting isn't fun anymore. As a collector, walking into a store and physically seeing the figure you've been waiting months for is one of my absolutely favorite things about collecting. That didn't happen 1 time in 2016. I think everyone from Mattel to the retailers are at fault and they all need to do a better job in 2017 Which brings up my last point: 3. I can't speak for everyone, but as someone that can shop at retail and online, it wasn't a cluster f***, it was business as usual. I saw retail stagnant, so I jumped online. Ringside seemed to get every set Mattel manufactured. Premium prices for early sales? Sure, but I wanted to wait, and Amazon managed to get every set as well. Going online to find I missed something at retail price was the equivalent of going to TRU 15 minutes after they opened and finding all the good figures from a set bought up by a scalper 5 minutes before I got there. Only difference was it took my 2 minutes and cost me zero in gasoline. They eventually restocked and now I'm all caught up. There's bigger problems, including a "strong US economy" that the media is seriously exaggerating, but that's a story for another time. Yeah, this. I don't 'get' all the crying about poor distribution and people driving 500 miles to visit 47 Walmarts when I'm sitting back and buying everything online. Sucky distribution is not a reason to quit collecting figures when you can buy the same figures online and avoid the hassle.

Back on topic, fwiw, as a uk collector I can sympathise with the OP. We have to pay £40 on average for elites we dont get like the TNF sets, £60 for HOF 2 packs, £70+ for HOF 4 packs not to mention all the US store exclusives and the RSC exclusives now cost us £35 as well. It's ridiculous. I completely understand why fellow collectors get frustrated and while I'm not going to quit I have substantially reduced my spending and collecting. I've sold off about 100+ figs over the last 6 months and I'm down to about 40 now but I'll still pick up the gems (that I can actually obtain at a fair price) as the product itself is great. Where are you buying figures as a U.K. collector that Elites average 40 pounds? It's interesting that all the U.K. posters on here mention Smyths and they sell theirs for 19 pounds, Toys R Us too. I couldn't imagine shipping being that much for one figure that it doubles the price. How can the average Elite be 40 pounds but Ringside Exclusives be 35? Are you just poorly converting? Are you use you know what you're talking about (and not someone on a made up account who is what? South East Asian?) Read my post, I wasn't talking about regular main line elites, clearly stated the elites we DONT get like TNF, US store exclusives, HOF 2 & 4 packs etc....

I'd rather see people like you banned to be honest for posting utter drivel like this. OP is a good guy, he's contributed well over the years. It's posts like yours above that solidify this place as a nasty place to come. Big

I think everyone from Mattel to the retailers are at fault and they all need to do a better job in 2017 I still don't see how we can say Mattel forced brick and mortar to over load on a couple sets at the beginning of the year that backed up distribution. 1. The buyers said "order several hundred cases per warehouse" and Mattel filled the order. 2. It was 2016. If anyone has been paying attention for the last decade and a half they know all businesses have been putting a focus towards online services because that's where more and more people are turning. Why spend crazy high gas prices to go hunt something when your time is limited if you can have it shipped to your door? Which brings up my last point: 3. I can't speak for everyone, but as someone that can shop at retail and online, it wasn't a cluster f***, it was business as usual. I saw retail stagnant, so I jumped online. A part of this is their fault. I understand how the system works. Someone on their end has to see what is going on and fix this with the retailers. Someone made a mojor screw up because 2016 was the worst year for collecting.

The only reason target stores are getting new product in is they purged all the crap that was not selling for elites and basics. ToysRus just when I was hopeful they where going to get new elites they got a whole display for elite 41 before Christmas after they actually restocked that twice before. Which was great for others who wanted the e41 balor. I already ordered 2 for myself months before.
Walgreens and Kmart got in elite 43 in my area for the Christmas season. So right now they are winning WWE figure retail.
If the only way to get properly stocked WWE figures is for every store to have there own exclusives and nothing else, how is this a good thing ?? So does that mean that there are going to be exclusives to Europe and Australia in the future ??
But according to the fan boys in this forum it's are fault for not buying the crap that's rotting the shelves right now. So if we want a chance at new figures we need to buy up all the junk that's not moving.

I guess some people don't understand how business works. Here's an easy to understand scenario.
For example, Mattel ships a order to Target. Target then breaks up shipment and sends to stores. If Target cares about evenly distributing a case or two of each series to each store worldwide, Target would take time and make sure everything is evenly spread out. But guess what, Target doesn't care. Once they receive product, they just want to get rid of it so that it doesn't stay at docks and take up valuable space for other incoming products. Most times, an area will receive the same case numbers within let's say 50-100 miles in the same distribution center area. That's the best we're gonna get. All Mattel WWE toys look the same to them.
Buy from RSC since they get all waves.
