"ouch" at $25? How do you collect at all?? I wonder that about everyone collecting anything nowadays. Like, damn, figures like this were $8 bucks only a few years ago, why are they over $20 now? DC figures are getting even more ridiculous with prices starting to be $28 this year for even smaller figures. I feel like you might have lost track of time there. Figures of the current Elite adult collector quality were definitely not only $8 a few years ago. They were around $15 seven years ago when Mattel first started producing them. You'd have to go back even farther to get down to $8.

Kids that I know (generalization alert!) hardly ever play with, or even want toys anymore. Toys to kids now are cameras, phones, game consoles, etc. Toys/action figures nowadays seem to have gone the way of video games, growing up with us rather than the new population of youth. It's as if they hooked us while we were young back in the day and then just stuck with us instead of catering to the newer generations. I pick up a Madden game and think "how is anyone under 15 supposed to know how to play this?" I have similar feelings if I see an elite figure of Typhoon. "Why would anyone under the age of 25 want this?"

I think elites were intially $12.99 at the beginning. When I started collecting, retail was $16.99 (about elite 12). Asuka for $15... you areally so lucky! How come I don't get that lucky with scalpers? Lucky lucky lucky lucky lucky!!

Scalping is very different than a retailer slightly marking up a product. If that's the case Best Buy is a scalper.

What makes him a scalper? Because hes reselling? If this is the guy im thinking of that he bought this off of... He buys tons of stuff with price matching and trys to over charge. Hes also the type of guy that harrasses employees at stores. Some of you get so offended by the word scalper.

Elites were $14.99 from the outset here, but at that same time DC Universe Classics were $12.99, and only Two years earlier than that they were $8.99 each. Marvel Legends had been as low as $5.99 back in 2004 (I graduated High School that year, what a great line of figures to go with such an important year to me). By 2009 they were $14.99 although the Hulk wave had been weirdly scalped by Target to be $16.99.

What makes him a scalper? Because hes reselling? Some people think if it's not Ringside, Amazon or some big box store, it's a scalper. The term has almost lost all its meaning because of people who use it to describe anyone who sells anything even $1 above retail. Exactly right

Which actually, if you think about it...is a bit strange because you could definitely make the case that Ringside scalps since they sell above retail. And hell, big box stores set the retail price...but are they scalpers since they add an upcharge? They're not selling the figures for what they paid for them, so wouldn't that be scalping too? Meh, they're all bullcrap buzz words that people have latched on to and toss out like candy on Halloween, whether the situation calls for it or not. Scalp, bury, white-wash, bullying, etc.

He was set up right by the guy that always has a few long boxes of comics and has the chyna playboy on display, with a few loose star wars figures.
