Anyone remember the horrible Heel turn for Sting at Fall Brawl 99? I loved how WCW played it off as we saw it coming bc of the sting character going dark and being the crow like character. I think my favorite part, was the fans not buying it and actually cheering the fact that Sting used a baseball bat to beat hogan, Clearly a failed experiment bc by November is was already a babyface again. Its hard to believe that by early 1999 that WCW was a lost cause, esspecially after all the success of 96-98.

That Sting heel turn was completely unnecessary. I remember the fans still cheering him when he was hitting the faces with the ball bat. Horrible move by WCW but that's not a surprise.

In my eyes he didn't turn heel because he attacked a heel. See in 1999 I couldn't buy Hogans face turn because it was too hard to believe that the evil leader of the nWo was now the lovable Hulk Hogan again.

Right up there for wtf were they thinking moment, with turning Goldberg heel at The Great American Bash.

Between that and the run with the Wolfpac it was pretty clear wCw didn't know what to do with Sting.

See in 1999 I couldn't buy Hogans face turn because it was too hard to believe that the evil leader of the nWo was now the lovable Hulk Hogan again. It took me two years to believe he went heel. I was of the impression that he was just infiltrating them and then would destroy them from within. I kept saying that he was going to turn on the rest of the heels and it did not happen during that time. |
