While I won't say it's my favourite console (Even if it's pretty damn close) I can't deny why it's commonly considered the greatest game console ever. Easily accessible and tons and tons of great and memorable games over a very long lifespan. A couple of years back I actually did a poll on here for what WF's favourite console was and the PS2 won, beating out the N64 in the finals. I have a ton of memories with this thing though back in jr. high school. We got a multitap and after school I would always have one to four friends over and we'd get into some rounds of SvR and 007 Nightfire.
Favourite game is easily Dark Cloud 2. I'm not big on RPGs; the complexity generally turns me away, but the Dark Cloud series were fairly simple to pick up and understand. The second improved a ton on the first game and the story is very fun and charming.
Favourite wrestling game on the system (And of all time for me currently) is SvR 2006. It did so many things right and added so many little nuances and tricks that really made it feel like a wrestling match. I even feel some of these things are missing from the current WWE games.

That long? Jinkies. Its crazy to think that they used 8MB memory cards and now games require 20GB+ to install.
My favourite games would have to be James Bond: From Russia With Love, Vice City, San Andreas and adding a wrestling game to the mix, Smackdown vs Raw 2006 mainly for its highly addictive GM Mode.

Man, 16 years. I've been in this odd phase where I've found myself stumbling upon older movies/games/toys/shows I enjoy, and then being astonished at just how long its been since I first saw them. I think it started while catching Forgetting Sarah Marshall on HBO. Seems like just yesterday I saw it opening night, yet its been nearly 9 full years.
Anyways, I waited a bit to transition over to the PS2 after the initial craze. I remember juggling working for my dad to save money for the system, while trying to get home in time for Monday Night Raw during the Invasion angle. Probably not my favorite Playstation console, but I still had a ton of great gaming memories with the thing. I've been wanting to replace some of the cables for it so I can put in some time on Fire Pro Wrestling, Manhunt 2, and Godhand, among other titles I never finished.
I jumped back and forth between PS2 and the original XBox at the time. If it was available on both, I went with the XBox release. Still, the PS2 exclusives (although some did get ported to XBox eventually, I poured hours into them originally on the PS2) were great. Loved The Getaway games (really hope to see those come to the PSN with trophy support someday), God of War, Kessen, FF10, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, GTA, and so on. I even enjoyed The Bouncer somehow, despite it being a colossal let down, and nothing like what was originally promised in early previews.
Wrestling wise, Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain were the most fun I had in wrestling games since the N64 days. HCTP was the very last wrestling game I invested considerable time into as well. I was always too busy with work to get into the Gamecube titles (despite how great they were), and the Xbox releases were pretty much crap.

Definitely my favorite system I ever had. So many amazing games, many memory cards full of saves, and many memories. Hard to believe that it's 16 years old, wow.

Yeah I can't believe it either. It feels like it was just yesterday I rented SVR 2006 and Smackdown Just Bring It! from Blockbuster. (R.I.P) They sure bring GM mode back for 2k18 or SVR 18 or whatever 2k will call it

I have since updgraded to a PS4. I still have all of my old games from the PS3, but this system was the sh*t when I was younger.
The games weee great for the time and I was always PlayStation devoted. Never got into any other companies as much.
My all time favorite game was Star Wars Bounty Hunter. God I need to find a cheaper PS2 to buy.

I have my consoles stacked on a shelf; PS1, 2 PS2's, Ps3 and N64. Man, those were the days where it could take like 5 minutes for a game to work but the sound was worth it lmao.

Too many favorite games to list. Any GTA game, the Tony Hawk games, every wrestling game and RE4 off the top of my head. When we first got it for christmas it was when all my brothers were still into video games, so we fought over playing it all the time. It eventually ended up in my room when my brothers lost interest in gaming and I continued to play it for years up until the 360 came out.

Wow...I loved the PS2 back in the day...still have mine, just need it hooked up.
Fave wrestling game was Here Comes The Pain, hands down. Non-wrestling games I loved were GTA: San Andreas, The Warriors, Scarface, Shadow Of Rome, etc.

This makes me feel old. I still have, and occasionally use, my PS2. Great, reliable system. But I'll say this: I sure don't miss having to buy memory cards for like $25.
Favorite non-wrestling game has to be Vice City (would include San Andreas, but I picked that up for Xbox). Here Comes The Pain is still something I play to this day, and IMO, has blown every other WWE game out of the water since SVR '07.

I've probably spent the most time gaming on my PS2 (and I've been a gamer since the Atari 2600). Still rocking the system I got on launch day. Skipped school to go pick up my pre-order (only day of high school I ever intentionally missed). Love that system.
So many excellent games from such a wide array of genres. Spent countless hours with WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2006 (IMO, the best wrestling game ever made). Got to relive a classic in a wonderful upgraded remake with Tomb Raider Anniversary (Tomb Raider Legend was pretty awesome as well... and I swear Angel Of Darkness wasn't as nearly bad as it's made out to be). Still have a fully customized NFL Madden 2005 league saved on my memory card with 32 personally created teams. Countless other games that still stand the test of time... Ratchet & Clank, Trapt, Shadow Of Destiny, Ace Combat 4, Need For Speed Underground 1 & 2, Dr Muto, Beyond Good & Evil, Psychonauts, Destroy All Humans, Jaws Unleashed, two great Indiana Jones games (Staff Of Kings and The Emperor's Tomb), Soul Reaver 2, Legend Of Kay, X-Files Resist Of Serve, Primal, and loads more. But, my favorite game from the system (and possibly my all time favorite game) has to be Need For Speed Most Wanted. I must have played through that thing five or six times by now and never get tire of it.

My first console was the PS2. I still use it occasionally to play SvR 2007, I got rid of most of the other games. So much fun and nostalgia. I miss those days.
