It was mid-afternoon and Vanessa couldn’t help but find herself taken by the sight of the Tempe sun; from the crevice against her curtain, she watched as it descended, filling the space in the living room about her with a natural golden hue that reminded her of Sunday mornings, of day’s spent in the arms of her lover.
… It made her feel, sensual.
She kept herself spread on the couch as she heard the sound of his motorcycle from the outside, cutting through the hog of sound that collected in their living room. It was really a good day – a perfect one, in fact.
Since leaving the wrestling world behind her some time ago, Vanessa found herself a steady gig at the community college as a ‘Professor of Art and History’. And, with today’s classes canceled, she did the next best thing: she got baked and spent the morning painting. She released her will and her mind to whatever forces were out there in the universe, communicating with her subconscious as she began work on her next major masterpiece. She didn’t know what it was or what to call it- but an image of a fantastical war across the open seas came to her and flooded her senses.
And now, here she was- relaxing in her living room, to the sound of My Bloody Valentine on vinyl, enjoying an iced tea and whatever was left of her high. It sated her while she waited for him.
Upon the sound of the front door opening, Vanessa called out: “Bienvenue à la maison, mon amour!”
(Welcome home, my love!)
Wayne stopped at the very sight of her and smiled; tight little figure, auburn curls falling down to her shoulders, skin as soft as milk, and eyes that glimmered like a forest after a shower of rain, staring back at him. He couldn’t resist this twenty-two years ago and there was no stopping now.
“Bon d'être à la maison”, Wayne replied as he set down his things and took her hand.
(Good to be home)
The exposure to her maiden tongue was finally starting to rub off on Wayne, who took her hand as she guided him into the living room. Every now and again, Vanessa would look over his shoulders to gaze at him- broad shoulders that supported the frame of a mountain of a man, with his beard, long hair, and equally long eyelashes.
He caught her smiling at her and in turn, she smiled back at him.
“ this”, Wayne muttered.
Vanessa turned back to him. “Hmm?”
“Je te veux”, Wayne hushed, turning her to face him as he pushed her against the wall.
(I want you now)
Vanessa closed her eyes and surrendered herself to his will; pressing into him as their lips locked. Wayne, in turn, closed his eyes and lifted her up, her legs locked against his waist as he pushed her deeper into the wall.
She let out a moan, as Wayne lowered his kisses from her lips and bit, softly, into the skin beneath her ear. Vanessa moaned again, quivering now as she looked at Wayne, his eyes closed, sucking now as the front door opened and Scarlett walked past.
“Sorry! Sorry!” Scarlett said, covering her eyes as she walked up the staircase. “I’ll be out in a few minutes, I just need to find my gear from Japan.”
Still locked in a passionate embrace, Wayne and Vanessa looked at each other and laughed, nervously, for a moment.
“She’s pretty used to this.”
Vanessa nodded. “I think I’ve already lost count on how many times she’s walked in on us.”
Wayne let out a laugh. “Are we bad parents?”
“I don’t think so”, Vanessa replied, her legs still locked around his waist. “We just can’t keep our hands off each other.”
“And that isn’t to say we haven’t tried to resist.”
“Life is old and so are we”, Vanessa sighed.
“-Got it!” Scarlett said, rushing down the stairs as she made a beeline for the front door, maintaining as little eye contact as possible. “I’ll just be on my way and, yeah… Resume!”
And with that, Scarlett shut the front door with an innocent slam and left her parents all to themselves.
“You heard the girl”, Wayne smirked.
Vanessa raised her eyebrow with a smirk of their own and with that, Wayne held her tight and took her up the stairs to a place no one would bother them.
“Wayne?”
”Yeah?”
“I think she forgot to lock the door.”
Wayne rolled his eyes. “crap…”

A New Wave
A Scarlett Quinn RP

Now freed from the sight of her parental unit’s impending snogfest, Scarlett Quinn slammed the door shut behind her and cringed. Like on one hand, she actually respects the fact that her parents were still so caught up in each other that way. It’s kind of cute and a little awesome- but, it’s also not awesome. Because they’re her parents and no child should be subjugated to the sight of that, even if it’s only on accident.
Scarlett cringed again and crossed the street to the home she shared with her Abuelita, and now Anna Ahriman, wondering how in the hell she wasn’t asexual or anything, when, her phone rang.
Scarlett grabbed her phone from her back pocket and saw Penny’s pirate-y face with a Facetime notification. Scarlett clipped on her earbuds and took the call.
“Finally!”
“Yo!” Penny shot out, looking like she was calling her from an office.
“Where are you?”
“Uhm, my office?”
“You have an office?”
“Yeah-huh!” Penny shot back. “Someone’s gotta oversee things while Josh is in rehab, so here I am.”
“Pantsuit and everything?”
“Pantsuit and everything!” Penny shot back, tilting up the phone to show Scarlett her bitchin' black blazer, with matching black slacks to boot.
“Damn, gurl…”
Penny went right into business: “So, what’s the plan? Close your dates with Japan and come back with the WFWF?”
“Pretty much”, Scarlett shrugged. “Maybe win a title or two? I don’t know. I haven’t planned it out, we’re gonna have to see what happens as it happens.”
“Okay, sounds like a plan”, Penny nodded. “Tell ya’ what? We’ll fly over in a couple days-”
“-We’ll?”
“And let’s plan things out and so some paperwork.”
“Wait”, Scarlett pressed. “What ‘we’ll’?”
“Uhm, me and Mary? Duh!”
“She’s part of this now?”
“She’s kinda my partner.”
“Your partner?”
“Yeah, Scarlett”, Penny said, somewhat sternly. “My partner: in the office and outside of it.”
“Cool. You have a partner.”
“Not in the ring, though.” Penny smiled.
“You’re coming back?”
“Not for awhile...” Penny chuckled. “Sorry hun.”
“Yeah”, Scarlett turned her head. “That really isn’t helpful.”
“Sorry.”
“It is what it is”, Scarlett waved her off as she walked up to Mama Sandoval’s porch. “I guess I’ll see you in a couple days.”
“Yeah”, Penny said, somewhat awkwardly. “I’ll see you.”
And just like that, the call was over and Scarlett was alone- with herself. She took a seat on the steps, wrapped her arms around her knees as she gazed at her parents’ house.
‘They’re probably ing right now’, said her mind.
“Eww”, Scarlett said out loud as she dropped her face into her forearms.
Like, she knew that she was going to get that call from Penny. But she just wasn’t expecting it to be that short or business-driven. And it wasn’t like she tried to direct the call into a more personal matter. It sucked because it didn’t feel like she was talking to her best friend; it felt like she was talking to her manager.
Like supposedly, they’d trade a few jabs here and there, talk about random bullcrap, and just as they were going to get right into business, Scarlett was going to lay it down on her: ‘Hey Penny, I know you’re retired. But you know what, you can come back with me right now and we can be tag team champions. Remember how we’d always talk about that before I ever seriously thought about becoming a wrestler? We’d be up all night on AOL- then later on Facebook- and we’d talk about our future tag team and all the cool crap we were both gonna do like take over the world, together- in a very non-gay way even though it was probably gonna look very gay to other people. And it was going to be great, but no- you had to finally get a girlfriend or 'partner', and retire.’
“Crap…” Scarlett muttered, leaning back now as pulled a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. “I mean, I can do it. I don’t need a partner- in fact, I don’t need anyone on my side. Because this time, I am going to do everything by myself!”
Scarlett placed a cigarette between her lips, took a drag, and sighed. “… I hate being lonely.”
“-Hey Scar!” Anna Ahriman almost squealed as she stuck her head out the front door of Mama Sandoval’s house. “I just saw the announcement on WFWF.Com- it’s official!”
“Hmm” Scarlett hushed, looking back at the young, excited girl behind her. “Guess I won’t be lonely after all.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“… You’re damn right it’s official!” Scarlett said, taking another pull as she gave herself a pat on the back for saving her own ass right there.

WFWF.Com Exclusive: Scarlett Quinn on Dr. Mantis Toboggan, Return at Supreme Gauntlet: Night Four
Okay, I’m going to go cut to the chase here: I’m pissed off. I had been gone for what? Good three, four years? And I left on top of my game- I headlined Superbrawl and I was the youngest WFWF World Champion in history. I am the Princess of wrestling’s first family and what do I get upon my grand return to the WFWF?
A spot in the opening match, facing someone- who, realistically, I’m going to beat!
Dr. Mantis Toboggan- are you really the best the WFWF can give me? Because if so, then I am incredibly disappointed. You see, I’ve been all over the world. I’ve wrestled in Japan, Mexico, Europe- the Philippines, and I’m still trying to figure out how that’s happened. Like at this point, the only place I haven’t wrestled in is probably Antartica, and that’s only because there aren’t enough people there- at least not yet anyway.
So, Dr. Mantis Toboggan, you can understand how insulting it might be for me to be booked against the likes of you. I’ve been all over the world, defending my crown as the Princess of Wrestling, and out of all the places I’ve been to, there is no place as fiercely competitive as the WFWF. I expected my return match to be an example of fighting spirit, a competitive classic to be remembered for decades and decades and decades to come. Not an easy win against a weirdo who hasn’t quite figured himself out. And it's not you're fault, you're still learning. But when you step into the ring with me, you are going to pay an incredible price for that inexperience. But you know what? You'll probably walk away somehow better off because of it.
So with that said, Dr. Mantis Toboggan – huh, I almost like saying your name – I invite you to step in the ring with me. You’re obviously not going to win, but I will show you a thing or tow, and I promise I’ll go easy on you so we can have an ‘even’ match. But I’m warning you, if I get bored, I will kick you in the face really hard. And based on what I’ve seen of you, that will probably be enough to beat you for the three count.
Survive Dr. Mantis Toboggan! Survive, if I let you...
