This was a great time period in wwe history. Lots of great characters and matches and it was part of the first boom period they had. Someone told me that they hated the wwf product at this time because there were a lot of "big slow plodding guys". Maybe so, but there was also a lot of great wrestlers like Randy Savage, Bret Hart, Mr Perfect, Strike Force, Jake Roberts, Rick Rude... I can go on and on. This person seems to forget these names and only remembers the "big slow guys". Do you guys agree that the wwf was bad in the late 80s or are you with that it was a great time period. What big slow guys were there anyway besides maybe Andre who had a bad back at that point?

I agree with the both of you, but what "big slow guys" were there in the late 90s that this jackass is talking about? Studd, Bundy, One Man Gang, Big BossMan and the list goes on. Some were more agile for their size than others, but comparing them to the others, they weren't.

The late 80's was when the WWE was at it's all-time best.

I was more of a fan of WCW/NWA, but WWF had some good stuff too.
Of course, WCW/NWA were presenting there product as more of a sport while the WWF was leaning more towards the entertainment aspect.
It was a great time to be a fan though, as there was a lot of variety, especially with the regional and independent promotions.
You have to think too, there wasn't as much wrestling on TV at the time, so storyline's would have a lot more time to develop, and of course with no internet, fans weren't as jaded as the are nowadays.

There was just as much wrestling on TV back then. Superstars, Wrestling Challenge, All American, and Prime Time. That's 5 hours of WWF from Saturday to Monday. Same as Raw and SD now. Plus sometimes there was SNME, raising it to 6.5 hours. And that was just 1 company.

undeniably was one of the company's, and industry's, peaks. national if not international audiences on a weekly basis, massive touring schedule, massive merchandise rates, crossovers to hollywood, the list goes on.
i wished i'd lived through it! luckily we have all the available footage to us today so i can live vicariously through that.

A GREAT time to be a fan, lived through it and everything was awesome. No Internet to ruin it with spoilers, thing planned out well in advance and with coherent stories (mostly) hype and showmanship of a different level and Kayfabe in full effect. Wwf, wcw/NWA and all the other organisations put on great product that I was totally invested in. Man I miss that!!

I just wish more of the 80/90s wwf guys were still alive so I could meet them at wrestlecon. Rude, Perfect, bulldog, Savage, Piper, Bigelow, Hawk, boss man..... that would have been awesome.
