So in a podcast (can't remember who hosted it) Shawn stated that sometime during 1996 and 1997, he wanted to jumpship to be with Hall and Nash. Vince managed to convince him to stay but what if he couldn't? How would drug head Shawn affect WCW? Would've Michaels become the third man instead of Hogan? Would he have feuded with Hogan? How would the monday night wars be affected? Would we be watching the WCW network or would things play out like they did? Would Michaels ever injure his back and become a born again Christian? Or would he have died of a drug overdose?

It would have been interesting to see him with Hall and Nash instead of Hogan but I don't think it would have been good for shawns health at all. Can you imagine the downward spiral him and Hall would have gone on together!!

He wouldn't have been the 3rd man at BATB ever. That was too early for HBK. He started pissing and moaning in late 96/97 about jumping ship.
With the power Hall & Nash held over Bischoff I'm sure HBK would have been a big enough deal. I do feel though that it would have been a disaster for him & WWF. DX was a big part of helping Vince turn the corner. Screwjob created the Mr McMahon character too....Bret probably wouldn't have left if HBK had.

It was summer of 1997. Bret and Shawn got into a big catfight backstage, and Michaels walked out, threatening Vince that he was driving to where Nitro was and didn't care if they put him on the air ( the fight was before an episode of Raw ). While HBK never did make it there in time, he refused to show up on Raw for a couple weeks, with his lawyer saying his contract was null and void due to a hostile work environment. Vince's take was that he was still under contract, and Vince stopped paying him $14,000 a week guarantee. So both sides met, and Shawn asked for his release, saying he was miserable in the WWF and he wanted to be with all his friends down in WCW and have fun again. Vince said that WCW would ruin him, and he'd do whatever it took to make it "fun" for Shawn again. This led directly to DX, with Shawn wanting to work with Hunter.
As for what they'd do with him? He'd probably be another nWo member lost in the background. WCW was WAY too stacked with talent and angles at that point to really fit in someone of Shawn's character in a meaningful way. Hell, look what happened to Bret ! At best, he wouldn't join the nWo and fight against them, but at that point you had Sting, Luger, DDP, The Giant, etc. doing that on a weekly basis. Shawn would be just another face.

I would of loved it. Wish hbk and Bret could of traded places in the Montreal screw job. We'd be looking at Mr. Wrestlemania Bret Hart. Owen and Davey might be alive (Davey went downhill after her broke his back on a trap door for warrior and Owen wouldn't of been regulated to the Blue Blazer.) I wish I wish I wish ....coming from a life time Hart Foundation mark! Also with the stories about hbk and politics he played I'm sure the wwf locker room would of been less hostile. Bret would of probably put over Austin at mania 14 in a rematch.

Given the way WCW was going with an obsession over big guys that would put Vince to shame, HBK would probably have replaced Syxx as the nWo cruiserweight and had some amazing matches with Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, etc. That is until both he and Hall self destructed from substance abuse.

I think that with Shawn Michael's attitude at the time, the clique would have probably sped up WCW's backstage problems.
