They need to give as much money possible to get back JR so he can't refuse. Sadly I think the issue there is, that WWE doesn't want JR. they realized that he is so good he actually makes everyone else that isn't King terrible by comparison and so they had to let him go. Sad.

Wonder if this has something to do with his bipolar condition?

Honestly if Mauro would just stop with the pop culture references, wouldnt mind him replacing Cole, and get rid of Otunga so it just be JBL and Tom on SD

I really enjoyed Ranallo back when he was doing commentary on NJPW on AXS, but he hasn't quite reached that peak for me during his brief run on SD. Is it the overproduction of the WWE announcing or just the fact that it's live? Or was he not a good fit altogether?

Here's an update: Source: Wrestling IncAs noted, Mauro Ranallo missed WWE SmackDown for the second week in a row this week. Last week it was announced that Mauro missed the show due to the winter weather in the Northeast but this week it was noted that he missed the show due to being sick. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Mauro has been out of contact with people he's known for years dating back to March 13th, which was the Monday before the first show he missed. However, two of Mauro's closest friends noted to The Observer that he's okay and resting up. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Mauro is doing better but he also speculated that there's more to the story that he's working to confirm. Mauro once missed an Invicta event due to his battle with depression, according to The Observer. He has suffered from depression going back to his teenage years and has spoken about it frequently, often tweeting about mental health. As noted, Mauro is usually pretty active on Twitter but he hasn't posted anything since March 14th.

I know everyone wants to point the finger at big evil corporate WWE. But if it's a condition that Ranallo has, then it's good that WWE is giving him his time. Hope he bounces back before WM.

I also think he needs to take a little more time off. He does Smackdown, Boxing, and Kickboxing. That also cannot be good for your health traveling all the time.

I really do hope that he makes it back before Wrestlemania. I'd love to hear him call at least a few Mania matches.

I still think if they gave Arda Ocal aka Kyle Edwards a shot at commentary it would amount to something. Truly passionate guy.

Let's just home it is a medical condition that is keeping him off the air and that recovery will take a short time.

For the most part I think you're right. But sometimes I wonder if the distraction of getting lost in work helps. In some cases, I think downtime can give depression the opportunity it needs to take over. Maybe a bad example, but I generally have to sleep with the TV on. If there's silence in the room, I get really bad nightmares.

I'd just like to take a few seconds here to teach those of you whom choose to decry Meltzer as some sort of Dime Store Tabloid writer a lesson.
The above quote didn't come from Meltzer. What those idiots (and so many more) did was take 2 sentences from Dave and then add all sorts of rumor mongering. Then, they still credit WON as the source.
I think it's reasons like these why we have so many (long time too) members here who willfully make themselves look simple by calling Dave a rumor mongering hack. If one would take a second to read between the lines a bit, I think one's (IWC) world would become a clearer place.
Anyways.
Looks like Mauro's doing better. What makes me feel better about this whole situation is that Mauro made more money resting up the last couple of weeks than both Taz and Mathews combined. It's cool that Taz likes to reminisce about abusing ephedrine with Joshy, but stuff like that is a relic of the past.

I'll have the TV on and if like the cable goes through like an overnight software update and shuts off, I'll wake up out of a deep sleep all sweaty, with my heart racing, coming out of some crazy nightmare.
