"WWE IS LACKING HEELS!" "SAME OLD CHIT" "HOW MANY TIMES HAVE WE SEEN THIS?!" "THEY DON'T BUILD NEW STARS ANYMORE" WWE decides to try and build a new main event player/star in someone who overall isn't bad (It could have been Mojo...) and everyone on here is bitching about it. Personally, I think Jinder is bad at everything and has never impressed me at all. However, even if he did, these hotshot pushes from out of nowhere never work. The guy hadn't won on TV since January 2nd, yet all of a sudden, we're supposed to buy him as a threat? Remember when Jack Swagger jobbed for months, then won MITB and cashed in with no build? It went nowhere. Put some effort into the build instead of going all in instantly and it might work. What about JBL? He just got a makeover after being an average tag team wrestler for years and years and was shoved into the main event.

JBL was much better in the ring than Jinder Mahal.....he just didn't show it all the time.

Aside from that, he hasn't had a good match since the Attitude Era.

Just me tho, there isn't a JBL match imo that stands out at all.

When he left the APA, he reverted back tot he blackjack attire. They tried to build him up as a threat to many different titles. It wasn't totally out of the blue. The difference here is Jinder went from jobbing to Mojo after jobbing to everyone as a member of 3mb. He never had a mini push in between.

No comparison between JBL and Jinder from where I sit. JBL was never a full on jobber. JBL was also one of the best promos in the business at the time. Jinder has not proven himself to be a capable wrestler, or a capable promo, and he's been portrayed as a jobber for virtually the entirety of both of his runs in WWE.

Kind of intrigued as to where they go with the rest of the card. I can see there being a number one contender's match for the women on SD tonight, and due to shady interference Natalya picks up the dub. I'm still not certain why they moved Mickie to RAW, she is desperately needed on SD because of a lack of faces.
I would go with Natalya v. Naomi for the title and Charlotte v. Tamina at Payback. I don't think that Charlotte/Naomi works as a feud and is better left to do a traditional heel/face match up.
Also interested to see what Dillinger has infront of him. Really bad move taking Miz off of SD as well, SD needs big time heels.

After I got over the initial scoffing, I actually don't mind Jinder being the number one contender.... as long as the feud ends at Backlash. I like that they're trying something different, a fresh face. And it's a new feud that hasn't been done before. Unfortunately I find Jinder extremely dull in the ring and personality wise. His facial expressions are far too cartoonish and his mic skills need a lot of improvement. He's also very generic in the ring in my opinion. I haven't seen anything from him that's impressed me so far.
But this kinda remninds me of when they had John Cena as Brock Lesnar's first challenger after WrestleMania at Backlash 2003. Hopefully after this Orton can move onto the likes of Ziggler, AJ Styles and Nakamura.

I do remember thinking at the time that Cena was NO WHERE near ready for a title shot at that time. Hell he didn't even have a match at Mania....so Jinder has him beat there.

This is actually a perfect way to build Jinder as a mid-top tier heel. He will come up short against Orton and I think the following Smackdown he will destroy someone like Sami or Dillinger to begin a program.

I honestly see Jinder winning. Allows RuRu to have his feud with jinder after their team split and makes it a feud worth something.

There's no way this is leading to a Jinder/Rusev match. Both guys are heels. If anything this Rusev demanding a title match storyline leads me to believe Orton is going over.
