When I was a kid, I never noticed this, but now I see it way too much.
Wrestlers cutting a promo before their match, then going out for said match in different attire.
There is no way that it could make sense for them to change that quick!
I noticed it with Tully Blanchard a lot. In the promo before the match he wears black trunks, then as he and Arn walk out he is in red trunks.
Mr. Perfect in yellow for the interview against Hogan, goes out in orange for his match with Hogan.
Warrior in purplish pink tights in his interview with Hogan before they face Genius and Perfect, comes out in the yellowish green tights.
Hogan with a bandana and all wet, comes out dry with just a headband on.
I know that the SNME shows were taped, but I am guessing that most of these interviews 'before the matches' were taped after the matches, and the wrestlers didn't care to change or forgot what they wore for the SNME match. But it still makes it look very bad.
Has anyone else noticed this about the SNME shows??

Two that come to mind is Kerry Von Erich at SSlam 90 and the Steiners at WM 9. Both had different attires in the pre-match interviews than the attires they wore in the match themselves.
But yeah especially with Hogan in a lot of his interviews he'd be all sweaty in the pre-match interview then come out all dry for the match itself. I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed those interviews like you said after the match or even days before the show itself.

I am sure they were taped in advance. Bingo, we have a winner. Back in those days, a lot of the backstage promos were taped in advance. As Bruce Prichard mentioned in his WrestleMania VI podcast, the promos were done the day before the event. If people think the WWE back then was simple, it sure wasn't. Talents would have to cut promos tailored to a specific market. Gene Okerlund mentioned in his 2006 RF Shoot interview that during any TV taping, he would have to shoot three hours worth of promos with various talents.

Most infamous one is before The Main Event in February 1988. Hogan cuts a promo right before the match with Andre and he's still wearing his usual Title belt, now known in Belt circles as the "Hogan '86" . Few seconds later he steps through the curtain wearing the Winged Eagle Belt, which was the debut of the new Belt and design.

Not just SNME, this was also done on PPVs too. The interviews and promos were done sometimes weeks in advance at the Stamford headquarters.

Yeah, there's plenty of Botchamania moments that point some of them out and they're all great. Just seems like laziness on either the wrestlers or editors part.

I am not going to bump that thread. But in regards to Mr Perfect working one match in one singlet and then changing for the actual Royal Rumble match is nothing new. I remember a WCW show where there was a tag team tournament and Scott Steiner came out in a different singlet for every match they were in. (I think it was three different matches, definitely two though) I will guess it was probably because they were drenched with sweat and uncomfortable to sit around in.

Great example of this was Starccade '89's Iron Man tournament with Sting, Lex, Muta and Flair. Lex had on three different trunks for each of his matches.

Macho Man I believe had different attire and robe for each match at WM4. Liz too, I think.

That's because Lex is obsessed with adjusting his pants. watch any match. He's constantly fiddling with them

Every promo these guys cut were done backstage at TV taping's. As I mentioned before Gene Okerlund mentioned in his 2006 RF Shoot Interview that he would have to stand there and cut three hours worth of promos. These guys had to cut multiple promos to be inserted into the syndicated shows. Notice how the promos differed from market-to-market. It's safe to say this was live...
Sorry to tell you, this wasn't live. Bruce Prichard mentioned is was somebody who played the wrong tape.
