Once we purchase a figure wwe and Mattel have already made their profit. We can do whatever we want with the figure. Same thing goes for selling cars. You can buy one then repaint it and add more horsepower and flip it for a bigger turnout. This is true, provided you don't use any trademarks or licensed things to add value to the car.

I've noticed pretty large customizing businesses pop up in the last few years.
Third party Transformers, spam, ToyHax, the list goes on...I like it.
I think it partly keeps interest in a company's product. Not a huge part, but if it adds to a couple more buys, sounds like a good thing to me.
You'll probably see extra sales of lines like Mattel Retro because it's cheap, new, fresh Hasbro parts.

The bootleg title belt business is so huge now on ebay, and WWE doesn't seem to care about that.

Nah, it would be illegal if you were fraudulently claiming they were official. Otherwise it's akin to drawing a picture of wrestler and selling that.
