I'm curious if anyone plays certain eras in universe mode. Do you set up a WWE Universe revisiting Classic WCW? Do you revisit the Attitude Era and the Monday Night Wars?
And if so, what kind of cool or even odd storylines have you done?
Last year on my PS3, I had set up 3 profiles, each full of CAWs. One was the late 80's through 96, one was 97 - 2001, and the 3rd was 2002 - current day. My plan was to run a Universe mode on all 3. But, my PS3 died.
So recently I got a new PS3 and rushed to download as many Community Creations that I could before the online servers go down at the end of this month. This time I just put a bunch of guys from different eras on one profile, although its not as cool and thorough as what I had done on my previous system.
So I am currently getting ready to play 3 very different eras in my Universe mode.
WWF SUPERSTARS
On Saturdays, I have WWF Superstars! Set in a slightly altered 1991. I started with SummerSlam 1991 and had some of the same matches as my revisionist booking isn't really taking place until after the payperview. I'm gonna have this feature mostly WWF wrestlers, but intend on slowly bringing in most top WCW wrestlers (Sting, Flair, Luger, Vader, Steiners, etc.) And I have future WWF wrestlers saved too, ready to debut (Razor, Yokozuna, 123 Kid, Diesel, etc.)
After loosing to Hogan and Warrior, Colonel Mustafa and General Adnan turn on Slaughter and viciously attack him. They then turn their attention to Hulk Hogan and the WWF Championship, a Title that Colonel Mustafa claims Hogan stole from him years ago. At the following Saturday Nights Main Event, Hogan retains his title but is double teamed after the match. The returning Sgt Slaughter rushes the ring and helps even the odds, saving Hogan from Mustafa and Adnan.
Bobby Heenan will be bringing Ric Flair into the WWF soon, with Flair immediately demanding an opportunity at Hogan's Title. My plan as of now is for Flair to defeat Hogan, with the help of the returning Brain Busters, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. These man will be joined by Mr Perfect and Rick Rude, as the new Heenan Family will be the strongest its ever been.
After SummerSlam, the Ultimate Warrior turns his attention back to his most recent tormentors, The Undertaker and Jake the Snake Roberts. Both men seem to be a bit too much for the Warrior to overcome. Jake Roberts also seems to be enjoying tormenting the retired Macho Man Randy Savage and his wife Elizabeth. Crashing their wedding party and even causing Randy Savage to be bitten by a Cobra. Savage wants back in the ring bad! But Jack Tunney won't allow it, unless agreed to by the man whom retired Savage. Will the Warrior agree to have Savage return to help him get revenge on Jake and the Undertaker?
THE MONDAY NIGHT WARS
On Mondays, I have Raw is War, set roughly between 1999 - 2000. The premise here is that WWF and WCW, although separate companies and shows still, are being merged under the same banner. Kinda how Raw and Smackdown are currently, allowing for possible talent trades and possilbe interpromotional shows.
Clashing egos causes the world champions from each show to want a match with each other at SummerSlam. This sets up the SummerSlam Main Event: WCW Champion and leader of the nWo, Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs WWF Champion and leader of DX, "The Game" Triple H. The match isn't without controversy however, as at the end of the match Hall and Nash enter the ring...and attack Hollywood Hogan! Costing Hogan his title and leaving him in a beaten and bloody mess in the ring. The next night on Raw, Triple H and his new found friends attack the New Age Outlaws, showing that this isn't an expansion of DX, but something else entirely.
Although not fans of the NWO and Hogan, top WCW stars are infuriated at the WCW Title being stolen from them and won't to get their hands on Triple H, Hall, and Nash, thus inciting the war between the companies that both company offices were hoping to avoid with the merger.
Future plans for this one include XPac and HBK returning to join their Kliq buddies. I plan on eventually bringing Hogan back in. Also plan to have Bret Hart and the Hart Foundation return to feud the the Kliq, possibly with Benoit or Jericho added in.
CURRENT ERA
On Thursdays, I have Smackdown, which is version of the current roster. This is an extension of a Universe I was already playing before my original PS3 died. My roster is made up of mostly up and coming wrestlers, with just a few Legends mixed in to help put over the new guys ( Booker, Edge and Christian, Jericho, Goldust, occasionally Undertaker, and Orton only for long enough to finish a feud I had going on my old PS3.)
Just thought I would share some of the things I have going on and see if you guys had done a Universe mode on any of the games that roughly picked up from a certain point of wrestling history and rebooked it how you enjoyed.
