Reflecting back on that period,
The NWA Tag Team roster included:
The Steiner Brothers The Road Warriors Doom The Freebirds The Midnight Express The Rock N Roll Express The Southern Boys/Young Guns The Fantastics The Samoan Swat Team The Skyscrapers The Four Horsemen
And the WWF Tag Team roster were no slouches either:
The Twin Towers The Rogue Brothers The Hart Foundation The British Bulldogs Demolition The Brain Busters The Rockers The Powers of Pain Bushwackers Strike Force The Nasty Boys

I'd have to say yes. Late 80s/ early 90s did have the best tag team scene IMO. Just looking at all those teams and it's not hard to see why.
Man I miss good tag team wrestling...

Quality teams and I may be biased as that one of my first years watching but it was AWESOME! Don't forget they also had the skyscrapers who I enjoyed alot. While the attitude era had some great teams and wars for me I love the 88-91 era the most and always will!

Don't forget the Varsity Club on the NWA side of things as well. 89 was one of the pinnacles of tag wrestling in all the pronotions, not just the big 2. The CWA/World Class union of the era also had solid teams as well. The AWA, albeit on its last legs had some solid workers in Badd Company, the Nasty Boys, The Wrecking Crew, and even the Guererros (Hector,Chavo Sr, and Mando) . Hard to believe that by 92, the genre would have fallen off the cliff like it did......in all promotions.

You had LOD,Money Inc. and Natural Disasters as the champs that year. Those 3 teams alone destroy the teams of today.
WCW was hurting for teams no doubt but I gotta say the matches between Gordy/Williams and the Steiners were awesome during that Summer.

I dont disagree with any of that. My point was more towards the depth of those rosters falling off the radar. There were still anchors ,especially in WWF, but it was kind of scattered. LOD didnt last past the summer ,which kind of hurt the WWFs tag roster. It pretty much revolved around Money Inc., Nastys, and Disasters. Although the shot in the arm was the Steiners, but they didnt really get going until 93. At which point the WWF would regain footing in the tag ranks with them, Money Inc., Smoking Gunns, Headshrinkers, Quebecers, and the Beverlys still hanging around for the early part of the year. WCW was in a bit of shambles outside of Gordy/Williams vs The Steiners. Thankfully, they too got back on the ball a bit more in 93 with The Hollywood Blondes, Horsemen, Nasty Boys, Harlem Heat, etc.

Demolition vs Arn/Tully feud from 89 was one of my favorite tag feuds since those 2 teams are high on my favorites of all time.

Demolition vs Arn/Tully feud from 89 was one of my favorite tag feuds since those 2 teams are high on my favorites of all time. Absolute gold there. Arn and Tullys WWF stint wasn't really that long (ironically similar to Flairs original WWF run) but it was full of greatness. They got the most out of the Brainbusters before Arn returned "home" and did so without getting buried on the way out. The Busters vs The Rockers, vs Demolition and even The Bushwackers, were great examples of their versatility. Demolition were at the peak of their glory during their run with the Brainbusters as well. It made for a great story, great matches and a great addition to the tag team titles lore. Although shorter than their NWA run with the Road Warriors, the run against Demolition at least had a definitive conclusion, which the Horsemen vs Warriors run did not.

They were there only a year but it sure was a memorable run. Feuding with the likes of Strike Force,Rockers,Bushwhackers then getting the belts from Demolition. Heenan as their manager was the icing on the cake.

Arn & Tully....awesome. The only team to beat The Road Warriors & Demolition in title situations.

Nasty Boys were in WCW in 1990, and came into the WWE in either December 1990 or January 1991.
Rock N Roll Express returned to WCW in 1990, and so did the Southern Boys.

IIRC The Nasty Boys were signed by Vince in late 1990. Knobs says on their shoot that Vince told them they were going to be his top heel squad because his plans for Demolition as heels were floundering & that his other heel teams were not as over with the crowd as he would like. So they were in for an immediate push.
He says he was surprised at the time to hear that they would end up being in a title programme with LOD because the Harts still had the belts and there was no sign of them dropping them.

this thread's not THAT old to resurrect I hope, but I wanted to point out my avatar for a second.
For a brief moment in the early nineties, you had a combo of Bobby Eaton & Arn Anderson managed by Michael PS Hayes - anyone remember that? Think about it for a second.
One-half of the Midnight Express, combined with a 4 Horseman, managed by one of the Freebirds who revolutionized 3-man tag teams.
I was in tag team geek heaven!!!
