I forgot how great the video package is for this match. The music, the great telling of real events between the two over the years, just everything about it is perfect. They don't do feud promos like this anymore that's for sure.

For one guy being WAY past his prime and the other being the most un-athletic man in WWE history, I can't believe how much enjoyment out of this WM build and match.

Incredible promo. Incredible match. Incredible PPV. I honestly believe minus Brock's botched shooting star press, WrestleMania XIX was the most perfect WrestleMania ever IMO. The camera shot of a bloodied Vince rising above the ring with a smile was amazing also.

Ya, I really enjoyed this match. Probably my favourite Mania too regardless of the Vietnam like flashbacks I get thinking about HHH going over Booker.

The promo video really got you emotionally invested. Something you don't often get from feuds today. People harp on Michael Cole's commentary but he really did a fantastic job calling this match with Tazz. Seeing Shane McMahon come out after the match was a shock. It was the first time we saw Shane on TV since the night after the 2001 Survivor Series. What people don't realize is WrestleMania XIX laid the blueprint for the WrestleMania's we see today. In regards to Hogan/McMahon, they overachieved. It had everything from psychology to storytelling.

Hogan vs McMahon was so much better than it had any right to be. WrestleMania XIX as well, such a great show, second only to X Seven as my favorite.

Not only was this Vince's greatest match but what I really loved was that he was in a feud with the original guy of the company. The Mr McMahon character didn't exist during Hogans original run so seeing them both in a rivalry after so long was really surreal.

This was McMahons true high point as a character. We saw the character established during the run with Austin. We saw how cut throat he could be with the Bret deal. But McMahon taking on the other responsible half of the rise of WWE ,was what that character was truly designed for. Even if it was impossible at the time of his original run. It was well staged in every way. Delivered more than Vince ever did before or since in the ring, AND featured a great surprise moment from Roddy Piper cementing his stance that he never liked either of them, but by God, Hogan will always be his arch enemy. Brilliant story telling in that match from everyone involved.

Not that he was ever super fluid or fast in the ring to begin with, but I felt like it showed tremendously in WCW. Fast forward to his return in 2002, the WWE did a great job of putting him in the ring with guys that had fantastic talent that could make Hogan look great. Working with the likes of Rock and Angle did wonders for him, much better than his late WCW run with guys like Nash. I probably should have worded it differently. While physically I think he was past his prime, from a storytelling perspective, he was killing it.

The camera shot of a bloodied Vince rising above the ring with a smile was amazing also. My mum thought this was hilarious! Vince's blood covered head slowly rising above the apron with an over-the-top expression! She used to watch a bit of wrestling in the early '90's, but she was never really into it, just a very, very casual viewer who, after a while, would moan that it wasn't the same anymore!

Few Random thoughts from this..
I'll never forget the Miller lite girl "Holk Holgan"
Vince loves to bleed
Vince wants to take super stiff shots
Speaking of Hogan working with Nash in WCW. I always remember Nash saying about Hogan cutting early NWO promos saying it was so "Memphis."
Sorry Kev, but your work rate was Memphis.

The build was amazing and the match itself was very good for two older guys. After Vince became a character on tv I always thought a match between he and Hogan would be interesting. Roddy Piper doing a run in was an awesome surprise! The aftermath with the Mr America stuff I didn't like.

Possibly my favourite WrestleMania of all time. It feels almost forgotten at times, which is crazy given how star studded it was.
WrestleMania XIX took place 2 days after my 11th birthday, it feels like just yesterday, but somehow 14 years have passed. The song in that promo fills me with nostalgia. Such a great time in WWE. Memories that will live forever.

While physically I think he was past his prime, from a storytelling perspective, he was killing it. To be fair, in 98 his knee was really bothering him. He said he would sometimes need help from his wife just getting out of a sitting position because it hurt so much and was so stiff. It had bothered him for years, but it got so bad around then that he finally had surgery on it in early 1999.

Great match. Who would've thought that Hogan and Vince would have put on a classic?
I love WM19. The only thing I hate is that Booker T didn't walk out with the gold. He would have been a made man had they put him over.
