so i found out the before hogan decided to join the NWO, that nash hall and Eric had discussions on who it should be
some names mentioned were Luger, Mabel, and crush
My question is how would the NWO would have worked with Mabel as the 3rd man?
How quickly would it have died out?
Would Hogan just go over him and BOOM tehere goes the nwo?

I seriously doubt Nash would've wanted ANYTHING to do with Mabel.

It wouldn't have worked. Thankfully he never set foot in WCW.

I'm pretty sure the only two men ever considered for the 3rd man were Hogan and Sting. I bet Vince McMahon WISHES it were Mabel, because then the nWo would have failed instantly and WCW never would have gone on a run and there never would have been a Monday Night War.

Sting was the backup plan if Hogan got cold feet on turning heel. I never heard of Mabel getting the spot at all.

Yeah, I have only heard of Sting who didn't want to do it and then Hogan. They were the only two I had ever heard of.

i thought bret hart was a possible third since they were in discussion with him for contracts that he eventually turned down (but later took them up on their offer).

The man that Hall and Nash were asking for originally was Bret Hart.
Mabel would not have been the worst nWo member though....

I find a lot of rumors from that time in WCW hard to believe, honestly.

Man, imagine an nWo led by Sting... . Who would've been the big baby for him to put over? DDP maybe? Wait and let Goldberg do it? That's a good dream reality

They would have been done before the post-match promo.

Mabel as the 3rd man actually sounds like a regular WCW idea. Not sure how they were lucky enough to strike gold with an idea as good as the nWo and get it right by having the 3rd man be Hogan (or even with Sting as a backup plan).

Good grief. I find it hard to believe that anybody was considering Mabel for a role this important.

Even if SOMEHOW/SOMEWAY the nWo survived the Bash post-match promo, Mabel would have been fed to Hogan the next PPV. It'd be that old tired shtick of "can he slam the big guy". Spoiler Alert... he can. 2nd or 3rd attempt only. Never the first.

The internet was still very new back in these days but there was a local phone number here where you could call and get news from like local sports, pro wrestling dirt sheets, horoscopes etc. I use to call every Sunday night to get the dirt sheet news. Im not sure if it was from the observer or where but it was in fact rumored that the 3rd guy could have been Mabel. I think for like 2 weeks straight they would list off random names of who it "could" be. Mabel was one, 123 Kid was another and I want to say Macho Man was the other guy. Its been 20 years so I dont remember everyone exactly.
Obviously it was Hogan and I never heard the rumors the backup plan was Sting until here recently when Scott Hall spilled the beans about it. Obviously whomever was releasing the reports was naming off WWF employee who's contracts were running out/had ran out and/or giving off former WWF name that were in WCW. I dont remember Hogan or Stings name being mentioned though.
