September 4, 2007 - Cincinnati, Ohio - US Bank Arena (11,000) "Don't Question My Heart" by Saliva Aired on the Sci-Fi Network (1.5)
SHOW REPORT:
- The New Breed made their way out to the ring to kick off ECW on Sci-Fi, under two weeks away from his opportunity to regain the ECW World Championship from CM Punk inside a steel cage, Marcus Cor Von did not look to be in a great mood. 'The Alpha Male' and Elijah Burke stood in the centre of the ring to boos from the Cincinnati crowd, leading 'the Elijah Experience' to tell the fans to shut up. Burke started to talk about how the people had paid their tickets to see ECW tonight because of them. He reminded everybody that it was the New Breed that eliminated all of the old relics from the so-called "glory days" of Extreme Championship Wrestling. They cleaned house, and everybody could thank himself and the man beside him for the Era of the New Breed in ECW! Marcus Cor Von removed his sunglasses and told the people that Elijah was right, it was under his guidance, and his dominance that led ECW to where we are today. He said that the New Breed personified ECW on Sci-Fi, week-in and week-out, and they were the only reason ECW wasn't filled with blood, guts, and out of shape old guys trying to do a job they do better than anybody, poorly! Cor Von then moved on to CM Punk, saying that 'the Straight Edge Superstar' is the ECW World Champion, and he wanted Punk to sit as comfy as he possibly could with that title. Because at Unforgiven, inside a fifteen-foot high steel cage, Marcus Cor Von was going to beat CM Punk's punk ass and take back what was coming to him, period! Tommy Dreamer made his way out to the ring, 'the Innovator of Violence' not appreciating the New Breed's comments about cleaning house of "the old relics" from the glory days of ECW!
MATCH ONE // Marcus Cor Von (w/Elijah Burke) def. Tommy Dreamer in 6:36 after the Pounce. The ECW Original was here to put a stop to the New Breed's ranting and raving, Tommy Dreamer one of the last members of a dying breed here in the modern ECW. 'The Innovator of Violence' had a chip on his shoulder after losing to John Morrison several weeks ago in an Extreme Rules match - but tonight he looked to take care of the former ECW World Champion. But 'the Alpha Male' was not to be trifled with, more determined than ever to reclaim his ECW World Championship from CM Punk in under two weeks at Unforgiven, inside a steel cage. A distraction from Burke allowed Cor Von to take control, and this caused D-Lo Brown to make his way out to the ring, looking to equalize for the ECW Original against 'the Elijah Experience'! Inside the ring, Dreamer scored a Spicolli Driver on Cor Von, but Marcus managed to kick out at the last moment. He looked for the DDT, but Cor Von was able to cut him off for the win. After the match the New Breed celebrated, whilst D-Lo attended to Dreamer.
- Backstage ECW World Champion CM Punk was watching the New Breed celebrate their victory on a television monitor, when General Manager Armando Estrada arrived, warmly greeting 'the Straight Edge Superstar'. Punk asked Armando what he wanted, to which Armando told Punk that he's sure he's seen what Marcus Cor Von and Elijah Burke had said about him, and he's sure he's all fired up about it. Punk told Armando that on the contrary - he felt pretty relaxed knowing that in twelve days time, he would get 'the Alpha Male' all to himself inside the steel cage. Estrada snickered, telling Punk that he's sure. But despite this, he has decided to arrange a match for him tonight as well. It would be CM Punk, going one-on-one with the undefeated Big Daddy V! Estrada told Punk to have fun, leaving Punk to shake his head. Punk said that he'd warned Estrada about smoking those cigars around him.
MATCH TWO // Drew McIntyre def. Shawn Spears in 3:18 after the Scot Drop. The Glasgow native Drew McIntyre was making his debut tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi after weeks of anticipation. Born and raised on the hard streets of Glasgow, Scotland, McIntyre had said that he was ready for whatever challenge ECW brought him, and appeared ready for the journey presented by up-and-coming Canadian star Shawn Spears, who brought the fight to McIntyre and shoved the referee around after a near fall. McIntyre came back, dropping Spears with a reverse STO he calls the Scot Drop, claiming victory. McIntyre received a positive response from the crowd, as Drew grabbed a microphone and declared that he was here in the Land of Extreme, and it felt damn great to be on ECW. John Morrison interrupted, making his way out to the ring to boos from the US Bank Arena. 'The Shaman of Sexy' cockily entered the ring and took the microphone from the Scotsman, asking who he thought he was. Morrison said that he'd seen all of the vignettes, and compared to the vignettes, Drew McIntyre didn't look like he had been raised on the cold, hard streets of Glasgow - what Drew McIntyre looked like tonight...was soft. Drew smirked, telling Morrison that he appreciated the feedback. He told John that he was a fan, before knocking down 'the Guru of Greatness' with a right hand! Morrison fled from the ring, as McIntyre had just proved he wasn't about to be pushed around from any other ECW Superstar!
- Elsewhere Mike Knox was seen in catering, Knox complaining about how it was a joke that he wasn't even in action tonight. Mike lamented that he'd have beaten whoever was in front of him senseless. A kid in a Chris Benoit shirt approached Knox, asking the big man for attention. Knox turned around and laughed, squatting down to the kid's level. Mike asked him if he wanted his autograph, then asked if he was a Chris Benoit fan. Mike told the kid that the next time he saw 'the Rabid Wolverine', he'd beat on him, and beat on him, and beat on him until there was no more Chris Benoit. The kid didn't want an autograph, instead telling Mike that he hoped Benoit made him tap out. Knox was fuming and told the kid to get out of here, scaring him off. Chris Benoit was seen standing closeby, 'the Rabid Wolverine' asking Mike if he was going to beat on him or not. Knox frowned in anger, as Benoit got up close and told Mike that he knows he's trying to play off this whole tough guy facade, but he knows Knox is worried, and he had every right to. Because next week, 'the Rabid Wolverine' was going to make Mike Knox tap out.
- Matt Striker was in the locker room talking up Big Daddy V ahead of the main event, 'the Teacher' telling 'the Mastodon' that tonight was a huge opportunity for him, one that may never come to V for a while if he didn't beat CM Punk tonight. But Striker assured V that he was the largest competitor in ECW, one of the most dangerous man to enter the Land of Extreme, and that as an undefeated ECW Superstar, he knew for a fact he would beat the ECW World Champion tonight. And that meant future title opportunities! Suddenly, Val Venis walked into the ring, 'the Big Valbowski' causing Big Daddy V to grow tense. Venis told Big Daddy V to ease up, saying he came in peace. Val asked V if he remembered the "good old days", where they'd go out for a night on the town; pick up broads and show them a good time. Striker told Val to get out, but Val then asked 'the Mastodon' if he remembered 'the World's Largest Love Machine', causing V to pick Val up by one hand, forcing him against the wall! Striker chuckled and told Val that he warned him. But V was with him now. And after Big Daddy V got done with Punk tonight, he was coming for him too. The two left, causing Val to yell that he'd see him next week!
MATCH THREE // The Major Brothers (Brett and Brian Major) def. Paul Burchill and Dave Taylor in 4:31 after a Major Blow. Paul Burchill was a one-man wrecking ball, defeating Brett Major last week and looking to continue the attack, just for brother Brian Major to get involved, sending Burchill packing. But tonight, Burchill had his former running buddy from Friday Night SmackDown, Dave Taylor - a hard-hitting brawler from Yorkshire, England - to back him up against the two prettyboys. Taylor and Burchill took Brian to work, taking turns in hammering away and cranking the neck of Brian, but Brett made the tag - and together the Major Brothers put Dave Taylor away with the Russian legsweep/facebuster combination, now known as the Major Blow. And what a major blow it was for SmackDown's Dave Taylor! The Majors celebrated their win after the match, whilst Paul Burchill was furious. After some show of respect to his one time mentor, Burchill clotheslined Taylor and started pounding away at him! Burchill delivered the Curbstomp to his now-former partner, leaving Dave Taylor laying in the ring! Burchill walked alone now.
- The New Breed were hanging out in the locker room, getting ready for the main event. Elijah Burke was excited about seeing the ECW World Champion getting crushed by 'the Mastodon' Big Daddy V, whereas Marcus Cor Von commented that he hoped Big Daddy V demolished CM Punk, but saved some of 'the Straight Edge Superstar' for 'the Alpha Male' to manhandle at Unforgiven. D-Lo Brown suddenly entered the room, Brown causing the New Breed to quickly get up on their feet. Brown told the boys to calm down, he wasn't here to fight. But what he was here to do was tell 'the Elijah Experience' that he was sick and tired of seeing him get his little head involved in Cor Von's business! Brown told Burke it'd be a breath of fresh air when at Unforgiven, Cor Von enters that steel cage all by himself, and has to put up or shut up, without Burke by his side. Burke got fired up and asked Brown if he wanted to fight, because he'd knock his ass out. Brown smirked, telling him he was speaking his language now. Brown challenged Elijah to a match next week on ECW on Sci-Fi, and invited Cor Von along too, and then they'll see who's down with D-Lo Brown.
MATCH FOUR // Big Daddy V (w/Matt Striker) def. ECW World Champion CM Punk in 5:03 after the Vader Bomb. 'The Mastodon' has been undefeated ever since arriving on ECW in July, and tonight came his biggest challenge to date. 'The Straight Edge Superstar' has been at odds with ECW General Manager Armando Estrada since winning the ECW World Championship at SummerSlam, and this match was made with Punk clearly in mind - as Punk is under two weeks away from a steel-cage match with Marcus Cor Von at Unforgiven, with the ECW World Championship on the line. CM Punk tried to strategize how to take Big Daddy V down early on, kicking the legs of V repeatedly, and soon attempting a hit-and-run strategy. Punk daringly tried to body slam 'the Mastodon', but he was too heavy and squashed Punk for a very close near fall. Big Daddy V began to dominate Punk like he has many ECW Superstars before him, but Punk kept coming back, trying to fight Big Daddy V off - but V was able to power Punk around. Punk was in a bad way, as V stood all over Punk and growled to the Cincinnati crowd's distaste. The ECW World Champion was in jeopardy in this non-title match, but Big Daddy V's Samoan drop was reversed into a neckbreaker, and Big Daddy V was off of his feet! Punk kept 'the Mastodon' down with a shining wizard and a roundhouse kick, and Punk soon scaled to the top rope just for Matt Striker to get on the apron - and down went Striker with a right hand! Punk missile dropkicked V back to the canvas, where Punk locked in the Anaconda Vise - but Elijah Burke ran down to ringside, distracting the referee! All the while, Marcus Cor Von appeared in the ring, 'the Alpha Male' striking Punk with the ECW World Championship! This allowed 'the Mastodon' to climb up to the second rope, splashing Punk for a major upset! Big Daddy V and Matt Striker left with their heads high in dominance - whilst 'the Alpha Male' and 'the Elijah Experience' stood tall over the fallen ECW World Champion. CM Punk could have broken ribs after the second rope splash, and that does not sit well for 'the Straight Edge Superstar' under two weeks away from the steel cage match at Unforgiven!
