July 9, 2007 - Lafayette, Louisiana - Cajundome (8,000) "...To Be Loved" by Papa Roach Live on the USA Network (3.6)
SHOW REPORT:
- Monday Night RAW came on the air to the theme song of 'the American Dream', bringing out WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes to a big ovation! Rhodes made his way to the ring, cowboy hat and all - as he got into the ring and saluted the Dallas crowd. As the fans chanted Dusty's name, 'the American Dream' told the fans that he never tired of that. Rhodes talked about the illustrious career he had been blessed with, dating back to his start in World Class Championship Wrestling in 1968 where Fritz Von Erich took a plucky kid called Dusty Rhodes and took him under his wing. Dusty stated it all went from there: which is why tonight is a very fitting night, because thirty-nine years later he wanted to take a new face under his wing, and maybe in thirty-nine years this man will have similar fame and glory as he has throughout his amazing career. Dusty formally introduced the newest addition to the RAW roster - his son, Cody Rhodes! Cody Rhodes emerged down to the ring, dressed to the nines in a formal attire: the lean dark haired son of 'the American Dream' joining his father in the ring to some fanfare from the Lafayette crowd. Cody hugged his Dad in the ring and waved to the fans in the Cajundome - but the theme of 'the Legend Killer' ruined the mood!
Randy Orton menacingly stepped onto the rampway to a mixed reaction, as Randy spoke into the mic congratulating Dusty on his legacy. Orton said that he's right to be so popular in Dallas, he was one of the biggest stars in the business, a former multi-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, 'the American Dream'; the man that beat 'the Nature Boy' Ric Flair; truly the man of the people! Orton slowly stepped into the ring, telling Dusty that he was a Legend - but the year was not 1968: it was 2007! Orton glared Dusty down with a cold grimace, when Cody stepped in front of his father, stepping up to 'the Legend Killer'! Cody defiantly talked trash telling Randy to back away, when Dusty retaliated on his own. Dusty told Randy that he really needed to lighten up. Dusty told Orton that it was really classy what he did last week, leaving Mick Foley for dead after booting him in the skull last week. Dusty was filled with sarcasm, calling Randy a class act, a real stand-up gentleman - but if Randy wanted to step up and do the same to 'the American Dream', daddy didn't need his son to defend him! Randy smirked again while Dallas lit up - but Randy told Dusty to relax. Orton told him that he had already put Dusty down. And for that he is going to let Rhodes wither away in nostalgia, because his days are behind him, and thank God for that. Orton turned to his son Cody, telling the new WWE Superstar that he couldn't say the same for him. Orton stared down Cody - who responded with a big slap across the face of 'the Legend Killer'! The fans cheered, while Orton thought for a moment, then looked at Dusty. But instead of acting on this defiance, Orton backed away - leaving the Rhodes Family alone in the ring: with a sadistic smirk on his face!
MATCH ONE // William Regal (w/Snitsky) def. Santino Marella (w/Maria) in 3:24 after the Regal Stretch. Snitsky stalked Maria around the ringside area, showing her his rotting teeth. Santino had to keep Snitsky away from Maria at one point during the match, which allowed Regal to capitalize. After the match Snitsky finally got his hands on Maria, and gave her a disgusting kiss on the lips which caused Santino to try and come to Snitsky's aid - just for Snitsky to lay 'the Milan Miracle' out by tossing him into the steel steps! Snitsky waved at a disgusted Maria, who attended to her boyfriend on the floor.
- After what happened at the top of the show, Dusty and Cody Rhodes were arguing in the backstage area about 'the Legend Killer' interrupting 'the American Dream's son's WWE debut earlier tonight. Cody wanted to fight Randy Orton in his first match on RAW - tonight. But Dusty told Cody that he hadn't been in a WWE ring yet. He didn't know what it was like to face Orton. Especially after what Randy did last week, destroying Mick Foley. Dusty also noted that he was 'the American Dream', he didn't need his son sticking up for him. But Cody told Dusty it wasn't about his father tonight. Cody told Dusty that he knew coming in that the WWE would be dog-eat-dog: and he wanted to fight Randy Orton tonight to prove that he will not back down to anybody. Dusty was reluctant, but finally agreed, telling Cody to go and see Shane McMahon. Cody left, while Dusty looked concerned for his son.
MATCH TWO // Street Fight: Beth Phoenix vs Mickie James ended in a no contest in 6:35 after the Glam Slam. This match was made official by the acting WWE Chairman Shane McMahon last week, after Phoenix and Mickie got into a fight in the Divas locker room. The two brawled around ringside, Mickie subduing Beth's attempt at using a Singapore cane. They brawled into the Divas locker room, where Jillian Hall was caught in a towel wearing a facemask, singing badly. She was embarrassed. The two brawled back to ringside where Beth had Mickie attempted to crawl away from 'the Glamazon' threatening with a steel chair, WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle came from behind, saving Mickie - just for Beth to take her down! Phoenix delivered a Glam Slam to Candice, when Melina nailed Beth with a steel chair from behind, sending Phoenix out to the floor! Beth looked angry, but Melina had gained revenge on Beth for laying her out after their tag match last week on RAW.
- After the humiliation earlier tonight, Maria was seen frantically trying to brush her teeth after the disgusting kiss from Snitsky. Santino Marella ever the comedian pondered what the stench was, which upset Maria even more. The Italian attempted to comfort Maria, telling her that Snitsky was a filthy ogre that would never ever get his grotty hands on his girlfriend ever again. Comforting her, Maria admitted she had something to tell Santino and his strange ways - but William Regal interrupted the scene. Regal, towelled after his win over Santino earlier, asked Maria why she wasn't interviewing him after such a hard-fought win. Santino squared up to Regal, raising his fists. The Blackpool villain told Santino not to make him laugh, after all, he had more than enough laughs after his trollop of a girlfriend planted a fat one on his friend, "Sir" Snitsky. Regal chuckled, leaving Maria distraught and upset once more.
- In the ring 'the Masterpiece' Chris Masters was prepared for non-title competition with Bobby Lashley, but Masters left the ring and stole ring announcer Lilian Garcia's steel chair and microphone, returning to the ring and setting the chair up dead centre of the ring. 'The Masterpiece' talked about how he hadn't done this in quite a few months, because his opponent tonight screwed it all up. But ever since Bobby Lashley beat the Masterlock Challenge four months ago, he hasn't been able to sleep! Footage aired from March of this year, where Lashley broke free of the Masterlock - being the first man to successfully break the Masterlock from Masters. 'The Masterpiece' claimed he was stronger now, and tonight - he wanted Lashley to re-take the Masterlock Challenge, because he guaranteed he couldn't break it again!
Bobby Lashley made his way out to the ring, the man scheduled to face Umaga for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at the Great American Bash seemingly game for the Masterlock Challenge against Masters, who looked more determined than ever. Lashley reluctantly stared Masters down, demanding "no bullsh*t". 'The Masterpiece' nodded and looked genuine, albeit crafty. Lashley slowly sat down in the chair, when Chris looked to apply the Masterlock - locking it in! Lashley struggled, as he stood up and tried to fight Masters' swinging him off; but suddenly Umaga was in the ring, and Masters turned around for Lashley to duck; 'the Samoan Bulldozer' delivering the Samoan Strike to 'the Masterpiece'! Lashley hit the ropes, delivering the Spear to Umaga, taking the WWE Intercontinental Champion down! The number one contender took the title, raising the WWE Intercontinental Championship high - and Lashley could in fact be the next champion, in two weeks at the Great American Bash!
- Backstage Todd Grisham was standing by with the WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle, asking Candice why she came to the aid of Mickie James in the Street Fight earlier tonight. Candice talked about how she and Mickie had had their differences, but when it comes to 'the Glamazon' - they have a common threat. Candice knows Beth Phoenix wants her title - but apparently Beth wasn't the only one, as Melina showed up. 'The Paparazzi Princess' hoped Candice hadn't forgotten about her, because she too, wanted her rematch for the WWE Women's Championship. Candice told Melina that she wanted to be a fighting champion, and if Melina wanted a shot - she would happily give her her rematch next week on RAW. Melina smiled and told Candice to watch her back.
MATCH THREE // Randy Orton def. Cody Rhodes (w/Dusty Rhodes) in 5:08 after the RKO. This was the official in-ring debut of new WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes, the son of 'the American Dream' Dusty Rhodes. Dusty looked concerned as 'the Legend Killer' beat Cody down, although Cody showed some fight; hitting a DDT for a near fall on the former World Heavyweight Champion. Orton finally left Cody down and out after the RKO. Following the match Dusty aided to Cody, but Orton hadn't had enough and pushed 'the American Dream away! Orton put the boots to Cody, before delivering a second RKO to the newcomer! Cody was down but not out, crawling - when 'the Legend Killer' stalked Cody, delivering a soccer kick to the skull of Cody! Dusty held his unconscious son in his arms, while Orton smirked and left the ring - but not before thinking about laying out 'the American Dream' as well.
- Back live, the acting WWE Chairman Shane McMahon was seen making his way to the ring, Shane making his first appearance since siding with Mr Kennedy last week on RAW - where McMahon endorsed and made Kennedy against John Cena official, for the WWE Championship at Great American Bash. Shane received a mixed reaction, as Shane addressed all of the talk over the past week, in the locker room, to the fans and the sheets online, all speculating as to why Shane O'Mac was "trying to run the WWE into the ground" by endorsing Mr Kennedy. Shane wanted to remind the people of why he made the match official for Great American Bash: because Mr Kennedy is a WWE Superstar that should be a megastar! Shane said that he should be the face of the WWE, not because he's his guy, but because if there is somebody that his late father despised, it was John Cena! Shane reminded everybody of how Cena had ruined the genius presence of Vincent Kennedy McMahon when he gave him a severe concussion, shortly before his death! Shane reminded everybody that John Cena may be the WWE Champion, and may be the face of the company - but in his eyes of what the WWE should be: he will no longer be the man on top of Monday Night RAW!
Mr Kennedy made his way down to the ring, the hand-picked number one contender of the acting WWE Chairman looking as smug as ever. Kennedy climbed into the ring and sucked up to the new boss - telling Shane he couldn't agree more. Kennedy claimed that all of these fans, the kids in the audience: they all believe in John Cena. They all believe that John Cena is some sort of role model. But he's not! He is a toxic son of a b*tch, and for too long has he been the man to beat in the WWE. That is - until one man beat John Cena one, two, three in the middle of the ring last week on RAW. The cocky challenger announced his own name to a mixed reaction.
But John Cena made his way out to the ring, the WWE Champion not happy tonight and not about to take any of it. Cena received a mixed reaction of his own, as Cena marched back and forth congratulating Mr Kennedy on his win last week. John sarcastically noted that Kennedy did it all on his own, he didn't have any help whatsoever in beating the champ last Monday night! Cena then told Shane O'Mac definitely didn't screw him over, like he hasn't done ever in the past. And as for Shane's claims and accusations, those are hurtful - but the fact remains that he is the WWE Champion! Cena continued that he was the face of the WWE, and until somebody beats him and takes this title from him fairly - Cena would not let up and allow somebody that announces his own name twice to take the helms of the company from him! Shane told John that he was delusional, and to admit that his days were numbered. Cena told Shane that he could tell him anything he wanted and he would take it on the chin. Cena reminded Shane that after all of these months: like father, like son, Shane is going to try and tear him down. But the champ is ready. Kennedy told Cena to face the facts that he is going to take everything from him: the WWE Championship, the fame, the glory, the Make-A-Wish endorsements. Because he is nothing like what Cena has faced before. John adjusted his hat and told Kennedy to back up his smack talk, asking Kennedy why they're waiting for the Bash! Cena challenged Kennedy tonight, and Kennedy looked ready for it - but Shane told Cena that wouldn't be the case, because he already had a match assigned for the WWE Champion tonight: and it was against King Booker! Kennedy looked disappointed, but Booker along with wife Queen Sharmell graced the rampway to loud boos, as Booker vowed to beat the champ in the main event tonight!
- A vignette aired reviewing the rehabilitation of Triple H after he suffered a torn quadriceps muscle in January. 'The Game' returns soon: bigger, better, faster, stronger.
MATCH FOUR // Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG) def. La Résistance (Sylvain Grenier & Robert Conway) in 5:31 after the Samoan Drop by Shad on Conway. The new World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch joined commentary for this match, addressing the state of "their" tag team division. Conway attempted to use the Quebec flag on Shad, which was snatched away by JTG, leading to the finish. After the match Cryme Tyme teased stealing the Quebec flag from La Résistance, but instead decided to throw it at Cade and Murdoch, antagonizing the World Tag Team Champions, separated by the referee.
- Backstage Dusty Rhodes was seen leaving the trainer's office, 'the American Dream' looking absolutely despondent over the official in-ring debut of his son, and what had happened to Cody Rhodes earlier tonight. Todd Grisham wanted to get a word from Dusty, asking for an update on Cody's condition, and Dusty compliantly told Todd that Cody had just woken up, but didn't remember what had happened after the RKO with 'the Legend Killer' in their match. Dusty removed his cowboy hat and spoke as a father, he was very supportive of his son's wishes to get in a WWE ring, nevermind against Randy Orton. Dusty got emotional as he talked about how he can tell Cody adopts wrestling from his father, but he also adopts his father's stubbornness. Dusty then said that he was now done talking as a dad - he was talking to Randy Orton. Dusty got fired up as he told Todd that he was angry, he was riled up: and 'the Legend Killer' would pay for what he has done! 'The American Dream' talked about how Randy has taken Mick Foley out, that's fine - he's 'the Hardcore Legend'. But when he takes out a promising newcomer in Cody Rhodes, that's where he draws the line! Dusty called Randy out for a fight next week on RAW!
- Backstage Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch were fuming after being angered by Cryme Tyme. The World Tag Team Champions talked about how they are the champions of the division, and that they deserve better treatment than this! Cade and Murdoch walked up the hallway, where they noticed a stage-hand, and began tormenting him. Cade asked what he was looking at, when Murdoch slapped the papers out of his hand. Intimidated, the stage hand was cornered by the World Tag Team Champions when the Sandman was seen behind the two - wielding his trademark Singapore cane. Cade and Murdoch backed off, Cade shouting about how the champions get no respect!
MATCH FIVE // Jeff Hardy def. Kenny Dykstra in 2:49 after the Swanton Bomb. This was Jeff Hardy's first match back to being a singles competitor after parting ways with Matt Hardy, who was re-signed exclusively to SmackDown! last week. The Money in the Bank winner made short work of Dykstra, who missed a diving leg drop allowing for the finish.
- Backstage King Booker was with Shane McMahon, the acting WWE Chairman giving Booker a pet talk ahead of the main event. Shane told Booker that he needed to remind everybody of what it means to be true royalty - and remind people of how he was once the five-time WCW Champion! Booker cut Shane off, telling Shane that if this is what Shane expects of him - he's got no problem with that. Booker accepted that Shane was the new boss. But Booker wanted to know why he chose Mr Kennedy over him for the match against John Cena, at Great American Bash for the WWE Championship! Booker told Shane that he was concerned for his judgment - because between the two of them: Kennedy was an ass. Shane begrudgingly admitted that, but still told Booker there was a chance for him to get that title match with Cena, if he like Kennedy last week, can beat the champ tonight. Booker accepted, but told Shane that he might need to have a word with Mr Kennedy about that title shot of his.
- Cameras caught up backstage in the parking lot, where another brawl had broken out between the WWE Intercontinental Champion Umaga and Bobby Lashley! These two would not let it go, as 'the Samoan Bulldozer' had allegedly blindsighted Lashley after the challenger to the title got one over on Umaga earlier tonight! But suddenly, Chris Masters entered the fray; 'the Masterpiece' wanting a piece of Lashley for himself. Referees were on the scene trying to break the three of them up; as for Umaga and Lashley, they would only have to wait under two weeks for their No Holds Barred match at the Great American Bash!
MATCH SIX // WWE Champion John Cena def. King Booker (w/Queen Sharmell) in 12:19 after the FU. No Shane McMahon or Mr Kennedy for Booker, who gave the WWE Champion a hard time during this match. Sharmell distracted Cena, which allowed Booker to maintain offence on the champ. In the closing moments, Mr Kennedy came out to spectate - which again distracted Cena. Back inside Booker attempted the Scissor's Kick, but Cena got him up on his shoulders, leading to the finish. After the match John Cena celebrated the win, the WWE Champion suddenly confronted by a recovering Mr Kennedy. Reaching high for the microphone, Kennedy told John to admit it: his time was just about up - and come Great American Bash, his time was now. Mr Kennedy's time. Kennedy left the ring in outrage, while Cena simply raised the WWE Championship high, ready for July 22!

July 10, 2007 - New Orleans, Louisiana - New Orleans Arena (11,000) "Don't Question My Heart" by Saliva Aired on the Sci-Fi Network (1.6)
SHOW REPORT:
- The Miz unusually made his way out to the ring to kick off ECW on Sci-Fi. Accompanied by Brie and Nikki, the Miz took to the ring where he complained about how he couldn't believe he had been sent to ECW. Miz talked about how this place was a cesspit, even when it wasn't run by the WWE all those years ago. But alas, because of Theodore Long's agreement with Armando Estrada, Long is sacrificing him to the Boogeyman? Miz was in disbelief, as he shouted about how he thought he had gotten away from that freak! Miz asked his Girls who one of the fastest up-and-comers were, to which Brie and Nikki responded that Miz was - and that's when Miz angrily spluttered further that he was, and that not even the SmackDown or ECW General Managers realize it! Miz continued, when he was interrupted by the Boogeyman's spooky interruption.
MATCH ONE // The Miz (w/Brie and Nikki) def. The Boogeyman in 3:32 after a roll-up with his feet on the ropes. The Miz fled from the Boogeyman, which caused Boogeyman to pursue his Girls. Boogeyman took his mouth full of worms and smeared them on Nikki, who fell and got the worms on Brie, freaking them out. The distraction allowed Miz to go on the attack, but Boogeyman's offence allowed a comeback. Miz slid out of the pumphandle slam, allowing for the win. Miz, Brie and Nikki then fled the scene as Boogeyman danced - something out of a B-horror movie.
- In his office ECW General Manager Armando Estrada was thinking that perhaps the talent exchange between SmackDown and ECW was not a bad idea after all. He was interrupted by CM Punk, who did not appear to be in a good mood. Estrada asked 'the Straight Edge Superstar' what he could do for him, and Punk told Estrada that maybe a little payback was in store. Punk talked about how he had an epic match last week with Chris Benoit, and he could be the number one contender, on his way to challenging Marcus Cor Von at Great American Bash. But because of Elijah Burke, he isn't! Estrada reassured Punk, asking him if they'd been down this path before: it's simple, CM Punk just isn't good enough to be an ECW World Championship contender - Vengeance proved it! Punk told Estrada to shut his face before he shut it for him, demanding he had Elijah Burke! Armando finally caved, but his match with 'the Elijah Experience' wouldn't be tonight: it would be at Great American Bash. Punk shook his head and left.
- In the backstage area the Extreme Exposé were seen talking, Kelly Kelly, Layla and Brooke joined by Val Venis in a towel. 'The Big Valbowski' said hello to the ladies, and asked them if they maybe wanted to grab a "late night snack" after the show, if they knew what he meant. The girls seemed interested, but suddenly Chuck Palumbo rode up on his motorcycle, asking what the hell Venis was trying to pull. Removing his shades, Palumbo told Val to back off his women. Venis asked whose women were his - considering he gave them the best times of their lives several weeks ago! Chuck laughed, then told Val he was funny. He's still the same man he was ten years ago. The difference is that Val is not the man he used to be, and that a stud like him, with hair like his, and a ride like this - Val's got nothing on him. Val appeared saddened, as Chuck told Extreme Exposé to ride with him: getting on his motorcycle, and slowly riding away with the trio following him.
MATCH TWO // Tommy Dreamer (w/Stevie Richards) def. John Morrison (w/John McBride) in 5:20 by count-out. Moments into the match, Richards chased Morrison's PR manager John McBride away from ringside, the two disappearing to the back. Morrison worked over the spine of 'the Innovator of Violence', but Tommy fought back. Morrison tried to roll Dreamer up with his tights, but was caught red-handed and reprimanded. Dreamer connected with the DDT, but 'the Shaman of Sexy' rolled out of the ring, allowing himself to be counted out. Dreamer got on the microphone after the match calling Morrison a coward, and that this was ECW - the house he helped build: and he wanted Morrison to answer his call, in an Extreme Rules match next week!
- Chris Benoit was seen doing push-ups in the locker room, 'the Rabid Wolverine' preparing for his match tonight against Elijah Burke, when CM Punk came in. 'The Straight Edge Superstar' had a hot fuse, telling Chris that he hopes he's proud of his win last week, because it was tainted by Elijah Burke. Benoit responded telling Punk that he knew, and that's why he was going to take Burke out tonight. Punk told Benoit that it should have been him going to the Great American Bash, to take the ECW World Championship from Marcus Cor Von. Benoit then snapped back, telling Punk that he's not! Benoit told Punk that he knows he's got it out for the New Breed - but Punk's had his shot. And now it's his turn. Benoit then threatened Punk, telling him that he doesn't want him out there in his corner, he's got Burke to himself tonight. Punk blew Benoit off, then told Chris that for the record: Punk does what Punk wants. But wished him luck tonight, and at the Bash.
- Marcus Cor Von was with Elijah Burke, the New Breed talking strategy ahead of 'the Elijah Experience's main event match against Chris Benoit tonight. The ECW World Champion and Elijah were then interrupted by Rebecca, who had to ask what the New Breed's reaction to 'the Rabid Wolverine' becoming number one contender was. Cor Von laughed it off, telling Rebecca that Benoit used to be the main to beat in the WWE. But now he's just a wounded animal. And after Burke's done beating his ass tonight, at Great American Bash, the "Wounded Wolverine" would feel the Pounce. Burke continued, saying how the New Breed run ECW on Sci-Fi. This is their kingdom. They run the show, they call the shots. Burke referred to CM Punk, claiming that 'the Straight Edge Superstar' isn't what he's cut out to be: that's why his man Cor Von beat him at Vengeance. But now he hears that he's got to face Punk at the Bash? Burke chuckled, telling Rebecca that CM Punk will be out of ECW after July 22. The New Breed were poised with confidence, ahead of future challenges.
MATCH THREE // Big Daddy V (w/Matt Striker) def. The Major Brothers (Brett & Brian Major) in 3:17 after the Samoan drop by V on Brian, on top of Brett. This was the in-ring debut of Big Daddy V, under Matt Striker's guidance. 'The Teacher' shouted strategy to V in this match, where the Majors got some offense in on Big Daddy V with tandem offense. But it was shortlived, V won and celebrated dominantly with Striker behind him. The dominant pairing then left the ring and went over to Joey Styles and Tazz, where Striker told the announce team to take a look at 'the Mastodon'. Striker talked about taking revenge on ECW - and Striker wanted revenge on his former allies, the New Breed.
- Backstage John Morrison was seen talking with John McBride, 'the Shaman of Sexy' asking McBride if he was alright - McBride commenting that he escaped Stevie Richards earlier tonight. But on the bright side, PR was booming after Tommy Dreamer's announcement. Morrison asked what his publicist was talking about, when Tommy Dreamer arrived, wielding a barbwire baseball bat! The ECW Original asked Morrison what it was going to be, reiterating that he wanted Morrison in Extreme Rules next week. Morrison appeared reluctant for a moment, but then changed his approach. John told "Thomas" that he looked foolish, not surprising in the least. Morrison told Dreamer that he pitied him, but not enough to resort to his level: Morrison was no extremist, he was no barbarian - there was no room for that in the Palace of Wisdom. Dreamer once again called Morrison a coward, when Morrison stated he refused to take the match! Morrison walked off, leaving McBride reluctantly alone - and Dreamer began closing in on him with the barbwire baseball bat...
MATCH FOUR // Chris Benoit def. Elijah Burke in 16:34 after the Crossface. ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von joined commentary for this match, running down 'the Rabid Wolverine'. Burke hung in there with Benoit by himself, and the two had a back-and-forth, competitive match while CM Punk was seen looking on in intrigue on a backstage monitor. 'The Elijah Experience' almost had Benoit beat with the Elijah Express, but Benoit managed to get a foot on the rope. Benoit had Burke in the Crossface, when Burke rolled out taking out the referee. This allowed Cor Von to leave commentary and enter the ring, looking for the Pounce on Benoit, who reversed it with the Crossface! Cor Von tapped out, a possible foresight to the Great American Bash - when Burke broke it up with a right hook! Burke again clubbed Benoit, but one too many and Benoit had Burke in the Crossface - Burke tapping as the referee slowly came to! And yet after the match, it all changed, as 'the Alpha Male' jumped Benoit again. The New Breed put the boots to the number one contender, while the New Orleans crowd chanted for CM Punk to come to Benoit's aid - and yet Punk continued to just watch on from the backstage monitor! Benoit had told Punk to stay out of his business, and he was, as Cor Von and Burke stood tall over the fallen 'Rabid Wolverine'!

July 13, 2007 - New Orleans, Louisiana - New Orleans Arena (11,000) "Rise Up 2006" by Drowning Pool Broadcast on The CW (2.7)
SHOW REPORT:
- Ric Flair strutted out to the ring to kick off Friday Night SmackDown, 'the Nature Boy' joined by the ever gorgeous Torrie Wilson. Flair received a loud ovation, as Flair helped Torrie into the ring, the fans in New Orleans up for the wooing of the former sixteen-time World's Champion. Ric Flair talked about how this year has already been filled with ups and downs, but he is far from down and out. Ric talked about how he took a punk kid with a world of talent, and he took him under his wing: and what happened? The little punk kid got too big for his britches. Flair made it clear he was definitely talking about Carlito, calling the Puerto-Rican a despicable son of a gun, one that deserved to get his ass beaten by the living Legend himself. Flair was quick to call Carlito out, talking about how Carlito likes to attack him from behind - but how about he attacks him to his face! And disrespect his former girlfriend Torrie? Flair told Carlito he wanted to punch him in the mouth and make sure he never kissed again.
Finally, Carlito answered the call, receiving loud boos. The Caribbean however, was wise not to step into the ring. Catching his apple in one hand, Carlito grinned as he told Flair he wanted to thank him for everything he's done. Because when 'Naitch' took this "punk kid" under his wing, he was unsatisfied with how things were. He wasn't winning, he didn't care, and Torrie was a really boring girl to be around. But with Ric, it energized him. And it energized him to the point where he remembered that he was the best WWE Superstar in the company - and he didn't need to be weighed down by an old man like 'the Nature Boy' anymore. Ric started getting mad, while Carlito told Flair that he really shouldn't be in this business anymore, it's a young man's game, and Flair is not the sixteen time World Champion others idolized growing up. Ric responded, telling Carlito that he may not be as shredded as he was, and not in as peak condition - but he didn't need to be in great shape to kick the Caribbean's ass! The fans erupted, as Flair tried to goad Carlito into the ring, and Carlito thought it through, but told Ric that he was too good for this game.
Carlito told Flair that he caught him in a good mood, because he should be bitter that an old man like him eliminated him from the World Heavyweight Championship tournament - now he realizes it's because he just wanted to catch up with Torrie, and that's how Flair got eliminated two weeks ago. So Carlito proposed that Flair reminisce about the past - and for one last night, be 'the Nature Boy' that thinks he can beat his ass. Flair was bent on the idea, telling Carlito that tonight was the last night he would concern himself with a bush-headed jackass like him! But Carlito snarled and asked why he thought tonight would be the night: he was talking about the Great American Bash. Flair regardless, told Carlito that he was on - but they would be seeing each other a lot sooner than the Bash: and Flair left the ring, charging Carlito on the aisle! Flair and Carlito went at it, as Flair chopped Carlito, the brawl breaking through to the backstage area!
- Following a commercial break, cameras caught back up to Carlito and Ric Flair, where Carlito had the upper hand, pounding away at 'the Nature Boy' on the floor. Carlito wheeled an equipment crate towards Flair, who narrowly missed having his head sandwiched against a wall. Flair then tackled the Puerto-Rican down, burying him in rights! Flair grabbed a nearby lead pipe and wrenched back ready to bash Carlito's head in - when SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long arrived at the scene, flanked by security! Long ordered Flair and Carlito to wait until the Great American Bash, as Flair stood up, dropping the pipe. Teddy told Flair that he was being given the night off - not just for Carlito's safety, but for his own. Security escorted Flair away, leaving Torrie Wilson alone with Carlito, who slowly sat back up and told Torrie that the Great American Bash would be the last night of Ric's worthless life. Carlito received medical attention, a hot turn of events to kick off SmackDown.
MATCH ONE // WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter, Paul Burchill and Dave Taylor def. Finlay, Matt Hardy and Jimmy Wang Yang in 7:29 after the Playmaker by MVP on Wang Yang. During his entrance, an insert promo with MVP aired, with the WWE United States Champion noting that despite his elimination from the World Heavyweight Championship tournament, it was time for Porter to get back to not only being the greatest athlete in sports entertainment, but the greatest United States Champion. Hornswoggle appeared during the match and started biting Dave Taylor's butt as he stood on the apron, enabling Matt Hardy to continue beating on Paul Burchill. Wang Yang was given a low blow from Burchill behind the referee's back, allowing the finish to take place. After the match Burchill and Taylor looked to close in on Hardy, when Finlay ran the British pair off with his shillelagh.
- Assistant SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero was in Theodore Long's office when a door slam was heard, bringing in The Miz flanked by Brie and Nikki. Miz was hot, demanding to speak with Teddy Long after the disgusting joke he played on him, sending him to ECW on Sci-Fi this past week, having to take on the Boogeyman. Vickie tried to calm Miz down, telling him that Teddy was dealing with Ric Flair. Miz began to comment on how disrespected he felt, telling Vickie he was seriously thinking about quitting SmackDown and setting up a meeting with Shane McMahon to join the RAW roster. Vickie managed to calm Miz down, telling him that she could deal with his problems and had just the answer: next week on SmackDown, she was going to give Miz the attention he deserves, his own talk show. She bigged it up, telling Miz that it would be great for him to talk to the fans, to give them the best guests: it could be a big hit for SmackDown. Miz thought about it, then agreed - thanking Vickie for her help, and saying that it was better than anything that Teddy Long had done for him, that's for sure. As Miz and the Girls left, Vickie smiled, content with her decision.
MATCH TWO // CM Punk def. Jamie Noble in 4:29 after the Go To Sleep. CM Punk was competing tonight as part of the SmackDown and ECW talent exchange. 'The Straight Edge Superstar' appeared to still have a chip on his shoulder after being ousted from the ECW World Championship match at the Great American Bash, because of Elijah Burke. Noble took Punk to the mat, but Punk outwitted him and scored the win.
- Edge was seen getting hyped up for his semi-final match tonight against Kane, when Anastasia Rose approached 'the Rated R Superstar' looking for comment. Edge told Anastasia that he knew what he was in for, he's faced 'the Big Red Monster' many times. But the difference between that freak Kane, and him - he's more determined. He's more focused. That's why he did what he did to Kane's brother the Undertaker, taking him out with a serious injury. And what a beautiful opportunity that led to, because after he finished beating Kane tonight, he would go on to become World Heavyweight Champion at the Great American Bash. Edge seemed almost too confident ahead of his match with Kane.
- A vignette aired, hyping up the return of Rey Mysterio to Friday Night SmackDown. After being sidelined last October with a major knee injury, 'the Master of the 619' was ready to return to the ring.
MATCH THREE // World Heavyweight Championship Semi-Final: Edge def. Kane in 10:31 after the Spear. As a result of this win, Edge will meet the winner of Batista and the Great Khali in the tournament finals at the Great American Bash on July 22. 'The Rated R Superstar' seemed confident going into this match, and quickly 'the Big Red Monster' gave Edge something to be scared of. Kane seemed enraged, not just because of his brother the Undertaker's injury at the hands of Edge; but enraged at the idea that the Great Khali would wind up in the finals if he managed to beat Batista later tonight. Edge attempted to get Kane counted out after sending Kane into the first row; and soon after the referee went down, and Edge grabbed a steel chair, just for Kane to big boot it into his face for a near fall. Edge managed to slip out of the Chokeslam, before knocking Kane down and out with a steel chair, which allowed the finish to take place.
- Backstage Anastasia Rose was standing by with ECW Superstar CM Punk, asking 'the Straight Edge Superstar' how he liked Friday nights on SmackDown. Punk answered that he may have left ECW pretty bitterly on Tuesday night, but the fact is that while he may be ECW to the bone - he knows that SmackDown is the promised land, and General Manager Theodore Long has treated him with nothing but courtesy already. Punk was suddenly interrupted by Montel Vontavious Porter, slowly clapping in sarcastic awe of the extremist. MVP congratulated Punk, and welcomed him to the big leagues - but he's seen Punk compete, and he isn't impressed. Punk squared up to the WWE United States Champion, asking him if he wanted to go. MVP ignored the challenge, saying that maybe Elijah Burke and Marcus Cor Von were right: Punk isn't good enough to be a champion in the WWE. Punk got in Porter's face, asking him if he wanted to put his money where his mouth was - and 'the Franchise Playa' raised the title, telling "Philly boy" that he wanted to see Punk try and hang with him: next week on SmackDown. Title on the line! Punk was determined now, a shot at MVP's United States Championship made!
- The Great Khali was seen lifting a metal beam in the backstage area, 'the Punjabi Giant' physically preparing for the deciding semi-final match of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament: tonight, against Batista.
- WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero was seen bursting into the cruiserweight locker room, meeting eyes from Funaki, Nunzio, Super Crazy, Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore. Chavo told the boys that he wasn't looking to get into a fight or anything like that - all he wanted to know was whether they had seen Gregory Helms, saying he really wanted to talk to him. Nunzio told Wang Yang, Moore and Nunzio that he would handle this: taking Chavo to one side and telling him he hadn't seen him - but Nunzio ever wise, started bigging himself up, proposing Chavo give him a shot at the title. Unfortunately, the rest of the cruiserweights heard him, and started arguing amongst themselves for a shot at Chavo's gold! Guerrero quickly evacuated the scene, with the cruiserweights all eager to take Chavo's title!
MATCH FOUR // The Dalton Boys (Jesse and Festus Dalton) def. Deuce 'n' Domino (w/Cherry) in 5:16 after the sidewalk slam from Festus on Deuce. The World's Greatest Tag Team were present on the aisleway during the match. Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield noted how the tag team division on SmackDown had intensified, with everybody wanting a shot at the WWE Tag Team Champions, Paul London and Brian Kendrick, who were seen watching in the backstage locker room. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas got into a war of words with Deuce 'n' Domino, distracting Deuce - allowing the Daltons to capitalize. After the match the Dalton Boys then started arguing with Haas and Benjamin: these three teams clearly all vying for a shot at London and Kendrick for the Tag titles.
- WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero was again seen, this time in the hallway. He asked Anastasia Rose whether she had seen Gregory Helms, telling her it was important. She said she hadn't, but then asked if he had met her new broadcast journalist. She couldn't remember his name, but she thinks it sounded something like him. In the distance stood a man in a suit, wearing a black hat and spectacles. Chavo approached him, to which Gregory Helms asked what he could do for Chavo. Chavo asked Gregory what he was doing - but Helms pondered whether they had met. Chavo told him that he knew he messed things up last week; but he needed an ally, the cruiserweight division were all over his ass right now. Gregory told Chavo that he was Detective Helms, ace reporter. But Helms did mention that he had heard from a reliable source that Chavo was no good, burning bridges everywhere he went. Some would say, he's a jackass! Chavo told Gregory that he wanted to make it up to him, to which Investigator Helms responded that he understands, and will get back to him after speaking with the source next week. The "ace reporter" walked away, leaving Chavo confused. Suddenly, Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore, Funaki and Super Crazy all appeared behind the WWE Cruiserweight Champion, chasing the champion through the halls!
- A vignette aired, previewing the return of the previously injured, 'Gothic Prince' Kevin Thorn and 'the Duchess' Ariel. The dark, suggestive couple tongued one another, as it was revealed that Kevin Thorn would make his Friday Night SmackDown debut in two weeks time.
MATCH FIVE // Victoria and Trinity def. Michelle McCool and Ashley in 4:28 after Trinity rolled Ashley up with the tights. These four Divas had a grudge to settle, after Victoria had beef with McCool and the Playboy covergirl Ashley for months - and now she had back-up. After the match, Victoria blind-sighted McCool while Trinity clotheslined Ashley down - then ripped off her shirt! Ashley had been embarrassed by the ECW Diva - who gloated with Victoria after being ran from the ring by McCool.
- In his office, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long was angry with his assistant Vickie Guerrero for allowing The Miz talk time next week on SmackDown. Teddy said that he didn't need this, that Miz hadn't done anything to deserve a talk show, let alone an opportunity of any kind! Vickie tried standing up for herself, claiming that Miz was talking about quitting Friday Night SmackDown and going to RAW! Kristal stood silently, as Long paced back and forth. Vickie continued that Teddy may have been treating him a little unfairly, after all, he beat Teddy's challenge when he beat the Boogeyman on ECW this past Tuesday. Cooler heads prevailed, as Teddy reluctantly admitted that Vickie did the right thing cooling Miz off. But he needed to be taught a lesson in humility if he wanted to make it as a WWE Superstar. He excused Vickie, before taking a seat with Kristal on the couch. She buried her head in his chest, as Long talked about the crazy night he had, having to leave the building and attend to the Ric Flair and Carlito situation. He stroked her hair, when he mentioned that maybe he does need a night off. Kristal agreed, noting that Long had been under so much stress, and suggested they take next week off. Long complied, saying that Vickie could handle the brand for one night.
- Elsewhere, Batista was seen getting ready for his match against the Great Khali: 'the Animal' set to meet 'the Punjabi Giant' next to determine who would face Edge for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at the Great American Bash!
MATCH SIX // World Heavyweight Championship Semi-Final: Batista def. The Great Khali (w/Runjin Singh) in 7:22 after the Spinebuster. As a result of this win, Batista will go on to the finals where he will meet Edge for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at the Great American Bash on July 22. 'The Animal' tried to overpower the seven-foot colossus, but the Great Khali was too big and too powerful for Batista to take down, let alone lift up. Khali dominated 'the Animal' and had him locked in a vice grip - but Batista managed to break free, making a comeback. Batista delivered a Spear to 'the Punjabi Giant', who fell down and crushed the referee. Batista seized the opportunity and headed to ringside, where he obtained a steel chair and got ready to go after Khali - who big booted the chair into his face! Khali grabbed the chair and looked to finish Batista off, when Kane arrived; 'the Big Red Monster' having unfinished business with Khali - and the two monsters went at it in the ring! Khali delivered the Chop to send Kane down, when Batista grabbed the steel chair and nailed Khali with it. Khali was dazed, allowing Batista to nail him a second time - but Khali still wouldn't go down: Batista followed up, scoring the win! Batista celebrated his win, one step closer to regaining the World Heavyweight Championship that had evaded him since WrestleMania 23: but the reality kicked in, as Edge's music hit - and out came 'the Rated R Superstar'. The man that cost him the title at Vengeance: Night of Champions, when he injured the Undertaker stepped into the ring and faced off with Batista - these two men now set to meet for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at the Bash!

July 16, 2007 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Pengrowth Saddledome (11,000) "...To Be Loved" by Papa Roach Live on the USA Network (3.8)
SHOW REPORT:
- The WWE Champion kicked off the final edition of Monday Night RAW ahead of the Great American Bash, John Cena hitting the ring to a mixed ovation from the "bizarroworld" that is Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Cena had a lot on his mind but started off by saying that he may be a man of many things: a fighter, a thug, kind of a wise-ass: but the one thing that he was not was somebody that wishes ill of his adversaries. John told the people that he was better than that - he knew as WWE Champion, he's got a permanent target on his back. And he will show hustle, loyalty and respect no matter what it takes to ensure that he keeps this prestigious title on his shoulder. Cena made note of Shane McMahon taking power as WWE Chairman, and he wants to change everything, it seems. He's got Mr Kennedy walking around on a leash, running his mouth saying that he would be the next WWE Champion, and the new face of Monday Night RAW. Cena said that while Kennedy could one day be one of the top WWE Superstars, and he is the future: he couldn't walk a mile in Cena's shoes. Because, who for the past five years, has made every town to fight with his heart, has gone to every veteran's armory around the world and listened to their stories? Who has contributed so much, and brightened the lives of so many children as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation? It certainly wasn't Mr Kennedy, who he could tell was in this for the money and the fame - it was John Cena! Cena then said that Shane O'Mac is out here claiming that John Cena was the reason for his father's unfortunate demise: and he certainly wasn't buddy-buddy with Vince McMahon - but what happened to Vince was a mystery that the late Vincent K. McMahon took to his grave!
Mr Kennedy interrupted the WWE Champion, the challenger to Cena's title this Sunday at the Great American Bash quickly making his way down to the ring, dressed in an expensive suit with a microphone in hand. Kennedy told Cena that it was really cute what he was trying to do, victimizing himself to be the underdog in their title match. Kennedy told Cena that he's done it many times - he's been the underdog, whether it's been against a veteran like Shawn Michaels; or a giant in the Great Khali. But with the man before him, Cena has nothing. Kennedy said that much like he told him last week, as he hovered over Cena's fallen body: his time was up, it's Mr Kennedy's time now. Kennedy told John that he was not the person he claimed to be - that he had a conspiracy theory, and that is that John Cena was the man behind Vince McMahon's tragic accident! Cena cut Kennedy off, warning him not to push it. Cena told Kennedy that he could stand here in his fancy three-piece suit, and run around saying he's the man: but he's way too premature, because he hasn't beaten John Cena for this WWE Championship yet! Cena continued that the face of the company represents the brand and its integrity - but all he sees before him is a man with the power of someone with influence. Cena said it's not the title that makes the man, it's the man that makes the title: and Kennedy's not even wearing the right shoes for his formal gimp suit. Calgary applauded, when Cena said that if there was a conspiracy at play here, it's that Shane McMahon is abusing the power his father left for him - and if that doesn't raise red flags, he doesn't know what does!
Suddenly, Shane McMahon appeared on the TitanTron, live via satellite from Stamford, Connecticut as he said he has been listening in, and he finds it repulsive that Cena can say that about the man he idolized, the man everybody looked up to in Vince McMahon. Shane warned Cena that he will have officers investigating John, because he firmly believes Cena at least played a part in his father's passing. But in the mean time, he's got bigger business he plans to reveal later tonight: and tonight in his absence, he is making the main event a six-man tag team blockbuster: as Mr Kennedy will team with King Booker and Umaga to take on John Cena, Mark Henry and Jeff Hardy! The fans erupted, as Kennedy left the ring, threatening to beat Cena clean in the ring one more time before the Great American Bash.
- WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes was seen in the locker room, where the Highlanders passed by to wish him luck tonight. Dusty put on his trademark elbow pad, when he was joined by his son Cody Rhodes, who was the victim of a vicious beating and a Punt kick from Randy Orton last week. Dusty asked Cody what he was doing here, to which Cody responded that he was stubborn like his old man. Cody wanted to offer his support and be in Dusty's corner tonight - but 'the American Dream' sternly told Cody that he needed to focus on his new career as a WWE Superstar. And this was something that Dad needed to do on his own, to prove he could still go, and wanted to put Randy Orton in his place tonight. Cody reluctantly accepted, patting his father on the shoulder for good luck.
MATCH ONE // WWE Women's Championship: Candice Michelle (c) def. Melina by disqualification in 4:45 after Beth Phoenix jumped Candice. This match was made last week after Melina challenged Candice, who wants to be a fighting champion. Regardless of the victor, the WWE Women's Championship will be on the line in a fatal four-way match this Sunday at the Great American Bash. Melina cowered away from a Candywrapper attempt when Beth Phoenix jumped Candice from behind, causing the finish. 'The Glamazon' delivered the chickenwing facebuster to Candice after the match, while Melina simply stared Beth down, walking away from the ring. Phoenix clearly had her own eyes set on the WWE Women's Championship.
- Todd Grisham was seen backstage with Chris Masters, asking about why he requested the match he did tonight, against Bobby Lashley. 'The Masterpiece' asked Grisham if he was kidding him, stating that Lashley never broke the Masterlock last week, and the only reason he got out was because Umaga got involved - uninvited, no less - and stuck his thumb in 'the Masterpiece's throat. Todd was sceptical, believing it was a set-up, but Masters told Grisham it was irrelevant: Lashley was his tonight.
MATCH TWO // The Sandman def. World Tag Team Champion Trevor Murdoch (w/Lance Cade) in 3:53 after the roll-up. Cade and Murdoch were granted this match after the Sandman prevented them from bullying and potentially attacking a stage-hand last week, in the World Tag Team Champions' quest for respect. Cade tried to distract Sandman, which backfired as Sandman sent Murdoch charging into Cade, who was on the apron. Cade was knocked off, and Sandman scored the upset. But after the match, the champions gained retribution, as Cade and Murdoch put the boots to the ECW Original. Cade yelled about how they don't get no respect! But Cryme Tyme suddenly hit the ring, Shad Gaspard and JTG running Cade and Murdoch out of the ring. Cade and Murdoch were going ballistic, as Cryme Tyme continued to pursue the World Tag Team Champions!
- Randy Orton was backstage, 'the Legend Killer' approached by Todd Grisham for comment on his recent actions against Mick Foley and the Rhodes Family. Orton smirked and told Grisham he didn't have any comments for his actions over the past few weeks. And that goes for whatever may happen to Dusty Rhodes tonight.
- King Booker was seated in a throne backstage with Queen Sharmell leaning on the arm. The royal couple lamented the fact that Mr Kennedy was going to get a WWE Championship match with John Cena over a trusted veteran, a man of loyalty, a former seven time World Champion like himself. Sharmell told Booker that his time would come once again. Booker said that he didn't trust Kennedy, nor did he like him. Booker said that speaking frankly, he was an assh*le. Mr Kennedy entered the room, and Booker changed his tone, getting to his feet and acting friendly with Kennedy. Booker asked how the next WWE Champion was doing, to which Kennedy told him that he would be better after he beat John Cena like he did before, in tonight's six-man tag team main event. Booker told Kennedy that the King would allow Kennedy to take the pin - but reminded Kennedy of their proposition: that the next night on RAW, Kennedy would grant Booker his title shot. Kennedy told him he'd see what Shane had to say about that, leaving. Booker slumped back into his throne, reiterating that Kennedy was a jackass.
MATCH THREE // Randy Orton def. Dusty Rhodes in 2:25 after the Punt. 'The American Dream' wanted this match, not for his son's sake, but to put 'the Legend Killer' in his place after his treatment of many WWE Hall of Famers and Legends in the past. Rhodes looked comfortable in his old stomping ground, dressed in jeans and a shirt - but Orton had youth on his side and quickly took Dusty down. Rhodes wouldn't go out fighting and kept fighting back, but finally Orton dropped 'the Dream' with a big DDT. Orton sized Dusty up, stalking him much like he did Cody last week, and Mick Foley the week before: looking to deliver the Punt to Dusty, when Cody Rhodes hit the ring, just for Orton to drop him with an RKO! Orton looked surprised at the rookie's heart, but regardless sized up Dusty and dropped him with a lethal Punt kick for the three! With both Rhodes Family members down, 'the Legend Killer' basked, having claimed another WWE Hall of Famer - and looking as cold-blooded as ever.
- A vignette aired, promoting the anticipated return of 'the King of Kings' Triple H. After being sidelined with a torn quadriceps back in January, 'The Game' returns bigger, better, faster, stronger.
- Back live on RAW, Dusty Rhodes was seen being stretchered out of the building, having been the recipient of a brutal Punt kick to the head by Randy Orton. Reminiscent of two weeks ago on RAW with Mick Foley, 'the Legend Killer' had acquired a devastating new move to his arsenal. Cody Rhodes was seen watching the medics take his father away to the ambulance, while Hardcore Holly stood behind Cody - telling him 'the American Dream' would be alright.
MATCH FOUR // Bobby Lashley def. Chris Masters in 5:19 after the Spear. 'The Masterpiece' wanted revenge on 'the Dominator' after Lashley once again thwarted the Masterlock Challenge last week. But Lashley, six days away from the No Holds Barred match with Umaga for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, was ready for the Great American Bash, and managed to overpower Masters at every turn. Masters was cheap in his offence, and soon got ready to lock in the Masterlock but Lashley would not allow Masters to lock it in properly. After the match Lashley grabbed a microphone and said that this was Umaga's last chance to get a shot in on him before their match on Sunday, and he was ready for a fight! Lashley demanded 'the Samoan Bulldozer' show himself, because it didn't matter what happened tonight: on Sunday at the Bash, he was taking the WWE Intercontinental Championship! Umaga made his way down to the ring on cue, 'the Samoan Savage' sizing up Lashley with the title hanging from his teeth - and Lashley dove over the top rope with a big plancha on Umaga! Lashley and Umaga went at it on the floor, with both men not letting up: which is what this rivalry has been all about, both men fighting each other with all of their might! Umaga sent Lashley into the steel steps, where he attempted the charging hip attack - just for Lashley to move! Umaga slowly stirred back to his feet, where Lashley delivered a Spear taking Umaga through the barricade into the front row! Lashley slowly got back to his feet, while Umaga crawled through the crowd - not showing a single ounce of vulnerability ahead of No Holds Barred come Sunday!
- Santino Marella was with Maria backstage, 'the Italian Stallion' telling Maria that he was so pumped and excited to get his hands on that miscreant Snitsky tonight. Marella said that he was going to serve up a hearty bowl of spaghetti meatball marinara and whoop-ass on that yellow-teethed yellowbelly. Maria however was more concerned for Santino, telling him that Snitsky was an animal, and she didn't want her boyfriend to get hurt. But Santino ignored her, telling Maria that this was him standing up for her like the traditional American male would: he would make Snitsky regret ever kissing his girlfriend. Santino led Maria out, then stopped and presented Maria with a pack of gum. "Just in case, put all of these in your mouth", Santino advised.
MATCH FIVE // Snitsky def. Santino Marella (w/Maria) in 2:48 after the big boot. 'The Italian Stallion' was defending the honor of his girlfriend Maria, who was harrassed and kissed by the rotten-toothed monster last week on RAW. Maria chewed on gum at ringside nervously, while William Regal joined commentary to discuss his distaste for the Italian. Marella actually managed to get in several punches on Snitsky, but it wasn't long until Marella ran into a big clothesline, followed up by the finish. After the match William Regal stalked Maria around ringside, the despicable 'Blackpool Villain' warning Maria - when Snitsky rolled out of the ring: the two cornering Maria! Snitsky grabbed Maria by the face, looking to plant another fat one on her - when Santino Marella ambitiously dove at Maria, and Snitsky planted a kiss on Regal's lips! Regal fell down in disgust, shocked and disgusted by Snitsky's foul breath! Snitsky swung for Santino, who held Maria in his arms and carried her to safety up the rampway - Snitsky fuming, and Regal practically dying after being accidentally kissed by the foul beast!
- The WWE Champion John Cena was backstage with Mark Henry, 'the World's Strongest Man' motivating the champ ahead of the six-man tag team main event. Mark Henry said that John was the most humble man he had ever met - but he needed to face the music: it was do or die for him on Sunday. Henry said that Cena has been playing fair with Mr Kennedy, and that punk ass needed to be taught a lesson. Cena agreed, and said that tonight was the beginning of payback for Kennedy. He walks around like he owns the place, but he hasn't taken his place yet. Mark then told John that he didn't really believe Cena would blow up Vince McMahon. John thanked Mark for his support, when Jeff Hardy entered the room, looking the WWE Champion right in the eyes. 'The Charismatic Enigma' told John that he was on his side when it came to Mr Kennedy, but no matter who won this Sunday, he wanted John to know that he would be gunning for the WWE Championship, presenting his Money in the Bank briefcase. Cena told Jeff that so be it - he would be ready for the challenge. The two shook hands, and shook hands with Mark - the six-man tag team main event growing close.
MATCH SIX // Mickie James def. Jillian Hall in 3:02 after the Mickie-DT. In an insert promo during her entrance, Jillian explained that she was humiliated by Mickie last week, where during her Street Fight with Beth Phoenix, the two brawled into the Divas locker room, exposing the secret behind her beautiful looks and new song she was working on. Hall was aggressive, taking Mickie down early on. Mickie however, made short work of Jillian. After the match Beth Phoenix tried to jump Mickie like she had Candice Michelle earlier tonight, but Mickie fought back. A Mick Kick only stunned 'the Glamazon', and Phoenix ran over Mickie with a big clothesline! Out ran Candice Michelle, out for revenge after Beth attacked her earlier tonight - and Mickie and Candice double suplexed Beth! Mickie stared down Phoenix, when Melina came from behind, taking Candice down, but Mickie sent Melina packing from the ring. These four Divas were all looking for the WWE Women's Championship, to be determined in a fatal four-way match this Sunday at the Great American Bash!
- Backstage William Regal was in the toilet stalls throwing up, with Todd Grisham standing by. Regal came out trying anything to cleanse the disgusting taste of Snitsky's breath from his mouth - the accidentally kiss traumatizing 'the Villain'. Regal grabbed a bar of soap and tried eating it before spitting it back up and stumbling over. Regal grabbed Todd by the collar and told him Santino would pay for this, and that he would make bloody sure Santino never got one over on him ever again! Suddenly Ron Simmons appeared, seeing Regal literally frothing from the mouth in the bathroom - Simmons shouting "DAMN!" at the besmirched Englishman.
MATCH SEVEN // WWE Champion John Cena, Jeff Hardy and Mark Henry def. Mr Kennedy, WWE Intercontinental Champion Umaga and King Booker (w/Queen Sharmell) in 10:47 after the Swanton Bomb by Jeff on Booker. Cena wanted nothing more than to get his hands on Kennedy ahead of the Great American Bash, and Kennedy was quick to tag in Booker or Umaga. 'The Samoan Bulldozer' appeared unsteady and damaged after being put through the barricade by Bobby Lashley earlier tonight, but still managed to capably isolate 'the World's Strongest Man' in the ring. Kennedy and Booker soon had issues, as Booker had enough of Kennedy's orders - resulting in a shoving contest. Cena clotheslined Kennedy out to the ring, where the two battled it out; meanwhile Bobby Lashley appeared on the rampway, provoking the WWE Intercontinental Champion to fight some more ahead of No Holds Barred this Sunday - and the referee was focused on the legal men Jeff Hardy and King Booker! Booker attempted to superplex Jeff off the top rope just for Jeff to knock Booker down, allowing the finish to take place! After the match, Cena and Kennedy stood on opposite sides of the ringside area, Kennedy vowing to finish Cena's reign as WWE Champion. Cena wanted to fight now, but the referee between them would not allow them to!
- Meanwhile in Stamford, Connecticut, the son of the late Chairman Shane McMahon was surrounded by a legal team, as well as Linda and Stephanie McMahon, in front of the Board of Directors. Shane cryptically and silently signed a contract. A member of the Board decreed that officially, as of right now, Vincent Kennedy McMahon's ownership of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. had been passed on accordingly, to the new Chairman of the company - Shane McMahon! Shane stood up and adjusted his tie, shaking hands with members of the Board of Directors, and hugging mother Linda and sister Stephanie. This was the big announcement he had talked about: Shane McMahon was officially the Owner of the WWE.
OTHER NOTES:
- Throughout the show Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler speculated on what Shane McMahon was doing in Stamford, Connecticut, or what his huge announcement would be.
- Throughout the show, cutaways of the scene at WWE Headquarters in Stamford showed Shane McMahon meeting with staff and personnel, as well as greeting Linda McMahon and Stephanie McMahon, leading to further speculation as to what his presence was to be.

Tyson Dux and Dolph McKinley in 4:30 after the running neckbreaker by JTG on McKinley. - Hardcore Holly def. Kenny Dykstra in 5:49 after the Alabama Slam.

July 17, 2007 - Edmonton, Alberta, Canada - Rexall Place (12,000) "Don't Question My Heart" by Saliva Aired on the Sci-Fi Network (1.8)
SHOW REPORT:
- The ECW General Manager Armando Estrada kicked off ECW on Sci-Fi with a speech, congratulating Shane McMahon on a successful transaction made of the WWE, officially taking the helms from his late father Vince McMahon - "may God rest his soul". Armando hoped Shane nothing but the best, and continued to suck up to the new Chairman of the company. Armando moved forward, addressing the Great American Bash this Sunday night - and Armando had a special stipulation just for CM Punk, having seen how he liked being on SmackDown last Friday night: if he couldn't beat Elijah Burke on Sunday, he would never receive a shot at the ECW World Championship ever again! Estrada wished luck to Punk in his WWE United States Championship match with Montel Vontavious Porter this Friday, the corrupt GM grinning and biting into a cigar.
- In the Rexall Place, the sound of 'the Rabid Wolverine' got Edmonton fired up, as Chris Benoit made his way down to the ring - the hometown hero making his grand return home! The man who will challenge Marcus Cor Von for the ECW World Championship this Sunday at the Great American Bash had the sellout crowd ecstatic, as Benoit thanked the fans for the warm ovation. Benoit said that in just five nights time, he would bring the ECW World Championship home, when he makes Marcus Cor Von tap out! Benoit noted all of the problems that the New Breed have brought to ECW, regarding the persistently irritating presence of Elijah Burke. Chris vowed to end them all when he rid ECW on Sci-Fi of 'the Alpha Male' this coming Sunday night.
Right on cue, the New Breed made their way down the aisleway - the ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von dressed to impress as much as ever, while Elijah Burke held the microphone. 'The Elijah Experience' expressed his guilt in ruining such a homecoming for 'the Rabid Wolverine', but he talked a load of cr*p. Elijah joked that Benoit was going to make Cor Von tap out? 'The Alpha Male' was untappable and unstoppable. The New Breed climbed into the ring as Elijah told Chris that he may be one of the most respected veterans in the WWE, and he may have the support of an entire city tonight in Edmonton: but he didn't seem to understand, this was not his era. Elijah said that this was the New Breed's ECW! The crowd booed, as Elijah similarly commented that guys like Chris Benoit, and especially CM Punk just couldn't grasp that this was their house and they made the rules: which is why on Sunday while his man Marcus Cor Von cleans house of Benoit, 'the Elijah Experience' was going to make sure that CM Punk would never be ECW World Champion ever again!
Chris Benoit got in Elijah's face and warned him if he spoke another word he would send his jaw spinning back to the States, which caused 'the Alpha Male' to stare down Benoit, removing his sunglasses. Cor Von told Benoit that he had jokes, he is the best technical wrestler he knows - but this Sunday regardless of how long he's been doing this, or how many championships he's won throughout his career: on Sunday, 'the Rabid Wolverine' would meet the true 'Alpha Male' Marcus Cor Von, and 'the Rabid Wolverine' would feel the POUNCE. Cor Von and Benoit continued to face off, tensions running high ahead of the Great American Bash; but tonight, Benoit was set to take on John Morrison!
MATCH ONE // Chuck Palumbo def. Val Venis in 6:23 after Full Throttle. Extreme Exposé danced in the ring during both Superstars' entrances, Kelly Kelly, Layla and Brooke having been involved in some sort of love pentagon involving 'the Big Valbowski' and the recently returned Chuck Palumbo as of late. Venis was aggressive early on, but Palumbo was quick to take Venis off his guard, and repeatedly talked trash to Venis about how he wasn't a ladies' man anymore. Val repeatedly fought back, but when he missed the Money Shot off the top, Palumbo quickly disposed of Val. After the match, Palumbo was surrounded by the trio of ECW Divas - but Palumbo blew them off, instead getting on his motorcycle and driving away. Extreme Exposé checked on Val, who was frustrated and angered by his loss tonight. Layla and Kelly tried to hug him, but Val shouted at the women, saying that this wasn't a game! Val left the ring in a rage, 'the Big Valbowski' having lost his cool because of Palumbo.
- ECW General Manager Armando Estrada was walking the halls when he was stopped by John Morrison, who thanked Armando for getting him a match against the grizzly, repulsive Canadian Chris Benoit tonight. John said that Marcus Cor Von was a man of virtue, that he was right that Benoit was more of an old lion - and like the old lion, Morrison was going to prove that with youth on his side, he was superior to 'the Rabid Wolverine'. John said that wasn't why he was here though, asking the Cuban if he remembered John McBride, his publicist. Morrison said that Tommy Dreamer threatened him to the point that McBride resigned from being 'the Guru of Greatness's publicist. Morrison told Armando that he's concerned that the ECW Original would get involved in his business tonight, claiming it to be harassment. Armando cut John off, telling him not to worry: 'the Innovator of Violence' was being taken care of. Morrison grinned, telling Armando that he was almost as wise as 'the Tuesday Night Delight'.
- MATCH TWO // Trinity def. Ashley in 4:11 after the moonsault. Trinity had sided with Victoria in a vendetta of sorts against Ashley and Michelle McCool over on Friday Night SmackDown - Ashley coming to ECW tonight with revenge on the mind. Ashley put up a fight against the Italian-American, but Trinity had more experience, and was able to put Ashley away. After the match, getting revenge for Ashley stripping Victoria of her shirt last Friday night, Trinity stripped Ashley of her pants and wore them as a scarf, mocking the fallen Playboy cover girl!
- Rebecca was standing by with CM Punk backstage, Rebecca talking about the bombshell stipulation Armando Estrada had dropped on him, that if he didn't beat Elijah Burke on Sunday, he would never challenge for the ECW World Championship again. Punk told Rebecca that he knows Armando Estrada has it out for him, and he doesn't care what that cheap, foul cigar-smoking pee-on has to say about anything. Punk said that Elijah Burke has been a thorn in his side for too long, and that despite their differences he hopes that Chris Benoit can take the ECW World Championship from Marcus Cor Von on Sunday night - because when he finally beats Elijah Burke and gets him out of the way, he hopes Chris knows that there was one man coming for that ECW World Championship: CM Punk. Rebecca asked Punk about Montel Vontavious Porter, noting that the recently enforced talent exchange between SmackDown and ECW was already showing its values, as 'the Straight Edge Superstar' will challenge him for the WWE United States Championship this Friday night on SmackDown. Punk told Rebecca that everybody knows MVP talks a big game, but while he dismisses what 'the Straight Edge Superstar' has accomplished: he has no idea what he is in for against CM Punk.
And maybe, just maybe, Punk will be bringing the WWE United States Championship with him, back to ECW on Sci-Fi. Punk suddenly ran into Elijah Burke, who told Punk that he was happy he was focusing on the WWE United States Championship, because finally after the Great American Bash, it would be 'the Straight Edge Superstar' who would no longer be allowed to challenge for his man, Marcus Cor Von's title. Punk told Elijah that he'd been waiting months for this: sucker punching Burke and taking him down! Punk pounded on Burke on the floor, before Elijah was able to kick Punk away; Burke crawling away quickly from 'the Straight Edge Superstar'!
- Extreme Exposé were in the locker room trying to comfort Val Venis once again, with Kelly Kelly asking 'the Big Valbowski' if the three of them dancing would make him feel better. Venis kept rubbing his eyes, as Kelly, Layla and Brooke began to dance for Val - but Venis wasn't happy or having any of it. Val said that he's not the man he used to be, ordering Extreme Exposé to go back to Chuck Palumbo! Venis told the Divas that he was going home, leaving the room. After moments of silence, Layla asked whether the girls wanted to go see what Chuck was up to - Brooke and Kelly happily going along with her.
MATCH THREE // Big Daddy V (w/Matt Striker) def. Tommy Dreamer in 3:18 after the Samoan drop. The ECW Original was thrown into a match by ECW General Manager Armando Estrada, in order to "avoid ruining the main event" involving John Morrison. It turned out to be 'the Mastodon', who made his ECW debut two weeks ago. Dreamer had a hard time trying to take the big man off his feet, but finally managed it by knocking V off the second rope for a splash. But as Dreamer was getting on a role, 'the Teacher' Matt Striker distracted Dreamer, allowing V to capitalize. After the match Striker again confronted Joey Styles and Tazz, telling them that ECW was in Big Daddy V's hands.
- Rebecca was standing by with ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von, asking 'the Alpha Male' about what he thought about Chris Benoit's prospects going into the Great American Bash. Cor Von declared that there would be no prospects for 'the Rabid Wolverine' after Sunday night. Cor Von said that the moment he won the ECW World Championship, he had changed ECW for the better - himself and Elijah Burke, had changed ECW and made it into their house. Marcus said that Chris Benoit thinks his excellent skillset and his storied history of accomplishments can bring the win to him - but Marcus Cor Von was not like most opponents. He called himself a beast, and he told Benoit that he better not exert himself tonight against John Morrison - because he wanted to witness Benoit in all of his glory on Sunday: and no matter what the case, when it was all said and done, Marcus Cor Von would still be the ECW World Champion, period!
MATCH FOUR // Chris Benoit def. John Morrison by disqualification in 13:29 after Marcus Cor Von nailed Benoit with the ECW World Championship. Some could argue that this was to be John Morrison's first real challenge on ECW on Sci-Fi, in there with the number one contender to the ECW World Championship. Now all by himself, 'the Shaman of Sexy' went toe to toe with 'the Rabid Wolverine', who had his hometown crowd of Edmonton in total support of him. Morrison was outwrestled, and it seemed Benoit was the most focused he had been in a long time as Great American Bash loomed near. Benoit missed a suicide dive on Morrison, which allowed 'the Guru of Greatness' to take control. Morrison played it intelligently, but after Morrison's split-legged moonsault backfired, Benoit made a comeback. Morrison rolled out of Benoit's attempts at the Crossface, but Benoit was able to lock in the Sharpshooter instead, wrenching Morrison like a pretzel! Morrison was on the verge of submission when the ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von struck Benoit with the title! After the match Cor Von and Elijah Burke put the boots to 'the Rabid Wolverine', but CM Punk unlike last week hit the ring, 'the Straight Edge Superstar' going over the top rope with Elijah Burke! The New Breed were getting their just desserts as Benoit looked for the Crossface, but Cor Von managed to slip out of the ring to safety. Benoit and Cor Von exchanged words - as the ECW World Championship will be on the line between these two men, this Sunday on pay-per-view!

July 20, 2007 - Edmonton, Alberta, Canada - Rexall Place (12,000) "Rise Up 2006" by Drowning Pool Broadcast on The CW (2.8)
SHOW REPORT:
- Friday Night SmackDown kicked off with the appearance of the stand-in General Manager Vickie Guerrero, who announced to the fans in Edmonton that with Theodore Long and his girlfriend Kristal taking the night off, she had been officially put in charge for the show tonight. Vickie said that Long had allowed her complete control of the show, and acknowledged the recurring rivalry between the Great Khali and Kane intensifying by the week - making it official that the two monsters would go at it this Sunday at the Great American Bash! Vickie was suddenly interrupted by The Miz flanked by Brie and Nikki - Miz dressed to impress as he thanked Vickie for giving him the opportunity he has tonight: saying how he was so excited for the world premiere of his new talk show MizTV. Miz said that he and Vickie got off on the wrong foot, and that he hoped to have a positive, pleasant working relationship with Vickie: unlike the man that has it out for him, Teddy Long. Vickie was flattered, but warned Miz that Theodore Long had told her to tell Miz to make it a good one - or MizTV would be cancelled before it even started! Miz and the Girls left, with Miz concerned for the future of his new venture!
MATCH ONE // WWE United States Championship: Montel Vontavious Porter (c) def. CM Punk in 13:28 after the Playmaker. This match was made official last week when MVP made fun of 'the Straight Edge Superstar's poor luck in big title opportunities. Because of this, the ECW Superstar was desperately looking to claim Montel Vontavious Porter's title, almost scoring the win after a springboard clothesline - but Porter was able to get his foot on the ropes. MVP looked to be in trouble, and slipped out of the Go To Sleep before trying to walk out and get himself counted out. It went awry as Punk brought him back, but this time Punk's attempt at the Anaconda Vise backfired as MVP dragged the referee down with him! Punk had MVP tapping in his patented submission when Elijah Burke came through the crowd, nailing Punk with Porter's United States Championship! Burke revived the official, allowing MVP to hit the Playmaker for the win. MVP celebrated by clinging to his title on the aisleway, whilst Punk glared down Burke, who had a cocky grin on his face - these two men with a grudge to settle set to battle it out this Sunday at the Great American Bash!
- Kane was in a red hallway in the backstage area, where 'the Big Red Monster' had some comments to say about the Great Khali. Kane said that the Great Khali believes he is the immovable object of the WWE. He said that a lot of people are afraid of 'the Punjabi Nightmare', but Kane held no fear. Kane flashed back to WrestleMania 23, where he beat Khali, and said that come Sunday, Khali will know fear. He will feel Kane's raging desire to hurt: and 'the Big Red Monster' will walk out after slaying the seven-footer one more time!
- WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerero was walking the halls when he was approached by Anastasia Rose, who wanted a comment from Guerrero ahead of his match tonight against Nunzio. Chavo asked Anastasia if he looked like he cared about Nunzio? Chavo said he was more concerned about whatever game Gregory Helms is playing. Chavo said that when Vickie Guerrero made this match tonight, he wasn't going to give Nunzio a shot at his title - he wanted to see what Helms had to say instead. He said that he knows things have been tough for him and Helms, but he wanted Anastasia to tell Helms he was on his side, and he needed his help against the cruiserweight division.
MATCH TWO // WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero def. Nunzio in 4:51 after the Gory Bomb. The WWE Cruiserweight Champion was paranoid of the other cruiserweights, who were all vying for a shot at his title, and without Gregory Helms by Chavo's side, he was concerned for his own relationship with the title he held dear. Nunzio almost scored an upset with a backslide, but Chavo cut him off and shortly after put Nunzio down for the win. After the match Chavo got on the microphone and demanded Gregory Helms show up, but there was no sign of him. After asking two more times, the lights suddenly went out. "Stand back, there's a Hurricane coming through!" The lights returned, and The Hurricane was standing behind Guerrero in the ring: Hurricane grabbing Chavo and dropping him with a Hurri-Chokeslam! Hurricane was back on SmackDown, as he held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship high, making his true motives clear as to a partnership with the champ!
- The Great Khali was backstage with Runjin Singh by his side, as Runjin told the viewers that they had been made aware of what 'the Big Red Monster' had to say, and not for one second has it bothered 'the Punjabi Giant'. Singh said it had driven him further, saying that ever since Kane beat the Great Khali back at WrestleMania, Khali has been determined to take Kane down. Runjin said that Khali is the man that took his half-brother the Undertaker out of action last year, decimating him at every opportunity. Singh told Kane that he should be counting down the days for the Great American Bash: but not to fight the Great Khali. But because on Sunday night, the Great Khali would leave Kane in a puddle of his own blood, crushed by 'the Punjabi Nightmare'. Khali roared for Kane, punching a huge hole into the wall in a rage.
- Anastasia Rose was standing by this time with 'the Animal' Batista, who will meet Edge in the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament this Sunday at the Great American Bash - but before that, tonight he will have to take on Edge and the Great Khali with Kane as his partner in the main event. Batista told Anastasia that Khali and Kane are two scary individuals, aren't they. But Batista wasn't about to hesitate - because his business was with 'the Rated R Superstar'. Batista made note of how Edge had been back on Friday nights for just under a month, and already had turned everything upside down: he sidelined the Undertaker, he caused the World Heavyweight Championship to be declared vacant - but what he did to p*ss off 'the Animal' most was sabotaging his match at Vengeance: Night of Champions. He said that he should be the World Heavyweight Champion right now, but that's life. Batista told Edge that he would make him pay for that, but it's all going to go down how it should have four weeks ago, when the Great American Bash goes off the air with the World Heavyweight Championship where it should be: around his waist!
- In the ring, an elaborate set-up was seen with red carpet down the aisle, as well as a black-matted ring with three small monitors and three stools seen. It was time for the world premiere of MizTV. Tony Chimel gave an extended, hyped introduction for the host The Miz, who made his way down to the ring with Brie and Nikki on his arms - the host thrilled to be here, albeit to a loud, negative response from the Edmonton crowd. Miz welcomed everybody to MizTV, which would soon become the best talk show segment in WWE history! Miz thanked Vickie Guerrero again for the opportunity and the stand-up job of being General Manager for the night. He then began to talk about his guest tonight, and it was a big one: former sixteen time World Champion, 'the Nature Boy' Ric Flair!
Ric Flair strutted out onto the aisle to a huge response, 'the Nature Boy' walking slowly to the ring with Torrie Wilson accompanying him. Flair climbed into the ring, holding the ropes open for Torrie, as Miz thanked Ric for being his guest. Flair told Miz that he was a questionable guy, but it was great to be here. As the three took a seat, Miz talked about how Flair had done it all: he had been the man, he had beaten the man: but this Sunday at the Great American Bash he would face a talented Superstar that may be his biggest threat - Carlito. 'Naitch' began to talk about how he used to think of Carlito as a protegé, he took the man under his wing and showed him what it takes to be 'the Man', but Carlito became everything that is wrong with what he does. Miz brought up Carlito blindsighting Flair and leaving him for dead on multiple occasions several months ago, and his treatment of Torrie that caused Flair to begin turning his back on the Caribbean. Miz then connected that to Flair's moral code of ethics: being 'the Dirtiest Player in the Game', doing whatever it took to being the greatest of all-time. Miz asked Flair if there was some sort of double standard, to which Flair said there was not. But Miz kept pushing the envelope, reminding Flair that he b*tched out Carlito for partying all of the time, and not focusing on his work in the ring: asking again if Ric was being logical, or if he was being selfish and clinging on for past days. Flair told Miz not to provoke him, because he was saving it for Sunday.
Miz told Flair to accept the idea that Carlito was testing him, to see if he could still hang with this generation of great Superstars: stars like himself and Carlito - because what he saw before him wasn't 'the Nature Boy' in his prime: it was an old man trying to cling on to something to make him relevant again. Flair retorted that Miz wasn't going to be a Superstar, because he knows a Superstar with potential and Miz had no potential! Flair told Miz that Carlito showed that potential, before he took it all away when he stabbed his mentor in the back, and made an enemy out of his now ex-girlfriend Torrie! Miz asked Flair if that's all it took to get in the way: a bimbo like Torrie Wilson? Miz was angering Flair, who got off his stool and got in Miz's face: but during this, Carlito slid into the ring before Flair - the Puerto-Rican picking up the bar stool and looking to swing, but Torrie spotted him and Flair chopped Carlito! Flair clotheslined Carlito from the ring, when Miz jumped Flair from behind! Quickly 'Naitch' fought back and looked to apply the Figure-Four Leglock on Miz, when Carlito connected with the Backstabber on Flair! Brie and Nikki assisted, grabbing Torrie and tossing her on top of her fallen friend. Carlito and Miz left the disrupted set of MizTV with the Girls, all the while Flair looked up with payback in mind for Carlito: sure to get it this Sunday at the Great American Bash!
- A vignette aired, hyping up the return of Rey Mysterio to Friday Night SmackDown. After being sidelined last October with a major knee injury, 'the Master of the 619' was ready to return to the ring.
- In her office Vickie Guerrero was disgusted but somewhat impressed by the world premiere of MizTV, noting that the Miz knew what made for compelling television. Suddenly her nephew Chavo Guerrero stormed in, the WWE Cruiserweight Champion perplexed by what transpired earlier with the Hurricane's return. Vickie told Chavo that she wished she could help, but he should have seen this coming. Chavo didn't understand, noting that he had always been good to Gregory Helms, and this is how he repaid him? Vickie warned Chavo that maybe he didn't give him a fair shot at the gold he had. Chavo, enlightened, came to the conclusion that that was what he wanted all along. He demanded he get the Hurricane, willing to the put the title on the line as well - and Vickie accepted, this Sunday at the Great American Bash.
MATCH THREE // WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs The World's Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas) went to a double disqualification in 7:03 when Deuce 'n' Domino attacked both teams. With the WWE Tag Team Championship division heating up, London and Kendrick had tough competition in non-title action in former multi-time champs Haas and Benjamin. They separated London from Kendrick, and almost got the win after the Broken Arrow, but Kendrick made the save. Kendrick finally got the tag, but it went shortlived, as the former WWE Tag Team Champions Deuce 'n' Domino with Cherry hit the ring, attacking both Kendrick and Domino! After the match the ambush continued, 'the Greasers' nailing London with the West Side Stomp when the Dalton Boys entered the fray - Jesse and Festus Dalton fending off Deuce 'n' Domino! Everybody was gunning for the WWE Tag Team Championships, as the Daltons watched London and Kendrick recover.
MATCH FIVE // Matt Hardy def. Paul Burchill (w/Dave Taylor) in 6:33 after the Twist of Fate. The recently debuted Paul Burchill had been a thorn in Matt Hardy's side since Hardy re-signed exclusively with SmackDown last month, but Hardy had him all alone tonight. Dave Taylor attempted to cause distractions for Hardy during the match, allowing Burchill to attempt the C-4, just for Hardy to reverse it into the Twist of Fate. After the match Taylor attempted to jump Hardy as well, but Matt managed to oust him with the Side Effect for good measure. Hardy was showing that he could still stand alone, tonight on SmackDown.
- Anastasia Rose was backstage with Edge ahead of the main event tag team match, where he would team with the Great Khali to take on Batista and Kane. 'The Rated R Superstar' said that tonight may be a sneak peek of what can come on Sunday when he beats Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship - but that's not on his mind. Edge reminded Anastasia that he was 'the Ultimate Opportunist', that he made things happen. Just like when in one foul swoop, he not only took the Undertaker out - something 'the Animal' could never do - but he gladhanded himself to the World Heavyweight Championship when the championship was stripped from 'the Deadman'. Edge said it was all a part of the plan, and at the Great American Bash, it was going to be brilliant, when 'the Rated R Superstar' walks out, over Batista' fallen, shredded body - reborn on top of the SmackDown mountain.
- Matt Hardy was sat in the locker room, regaining his breath after defeating Paul Burchill tonight. He was suddenly confronted by Montel Vontavious Porter, who congratulated Hardy on the win. The WWE United States Champion told Matt that he thought he had gone weak since relying on his brother Jeff to get the job done. Matt stood up and told 'the Franchise Player' that that was pretty rich coming from another guy to even still be the champion right now. Porter laughed and told Matt that he didn't need Elijah Burke's help to beat CM Punk, but that's their own business. What's important is he is the champ. MVP began telling Hardy that maybe one day he too could be in a similar predicament with the champ if he kept it up: but told Hardy to remember that no matter what Matt did, MVP was 'Half-Man, Half-Amazing', and most importantly, better than him. Hardy smirked and told MVP that he'd see about that, walking away. MVP was vexed by Hardy's indifference - telling him that they would see, because he was the greatest athlete in sports entertainment today.
MATCH SIX // Edge and The Great Khali (w/Runjin Singh) def. Batista and Kane in 11:27 after the Spear by Edge on Kane. A blockbuster main event to SmackDown, just two days ahead of two big matches for the Great American Bash. Edge stayed clear where he could from 'the Animal', whereas Kane and the Great Khali did not shy from the other. Khali and Edge were able to find something to agree on in their unlikely alliance, and that was to keep 'the Big Red Monster' isolated from Batista. Finally Kane was able to make a comeback, an uppercut catching a flying Edge off guard. Batista came in and had Edge where he wanted him with the Batista Bomb, until Edge slipped out, the Edge-o-matic taking Batista down. Kane, the legal man, came from behind looking for the Chokeslam - but Khali delivered a big Chop to the back of the monster's skull: allowing Edge to deliver the Spear for the win! After the match, 'the Ultimate Opportunist' wasn't done however, deciding to send a message via 'the Punjabi Nightmare'. Khali, surely not forgetting how Batista beat him last week in the semi-final round of the tournament, locked in the Vise Grip on Batista, gripping and squeezing the life out of 'the Animal'! Edge knelt beside a struggling Batista, as he told Batista that they didn't call him 'the Ultimate Opportunist' for nothing: and on Sunday, his plan would be realized when he took the World Heavyweight Championship where it belonged - with 'the Rated R Superstar'!

July 22, 2007 - San Jose, California - HP Pavilion (13,851) RAW, SmackDown & ECW Presentation "The Church of Hot Addiction" by Cobra Starship Live on Pay-Per-View (232,000)
CARD RESULTS:
- The Great American Bash kicked off live on pay-per-view with the arrival of the official new Chairman of the WWE, Shane McMahon in a limousine. The Chairman walked the halls, passing by various RAW, SmackDown and ECW talent before heading straight to the HP Pavilion - standing on the stage and bowing to the thirteen-thousand strong in attendance in San Jose! Shane acted sincere, as he wanted to thank the fans for helping him through a troubling time. He said that the mysterious circumstances of his father Vincent Kennedy McMahon's death was still under investigation, but the truth was that the fans got him through it. Shane said they weren't out of the woods yet, but the ink on the paper was still drying - and he ordered the fans to give it to the new majority owner of the WWE - Shane O'Mac! This was met with more boos than cheers, as Shane declared that the WWE will be born again - calling tonight the beginning of a beautiful new era: and under his guidance, his leadership, the WWE will be stronger than ever going forward with a new World Heavyweight Champion to be crowned: and a new face of the WWE born, as he's sure Mr Kennedy can get the job done against that despicable criminal John Cena! The crowd responded differently to the new boss, who smiled upon his new empire - returning to the back.
MATCH ONE // If CM Punk loses, he will never challenge for the ECW World Championship again: CM Punk def. Elijah Burke in 14:18 after the Anaconda Vice. 'The Straight Edge Superstar' was in a must-win situation, as he took on a long time rival in Elijah Burke, the man behind the New Breed - but more importantly, the man behind costing Punk opportunity after opportunity - the man that cost him the WWE United States Championship last Friday night on SmackDown. 'The Elijah Experience' held his own and slowed the pace of the match, looking to take Punk's leg out of commission. More mat-based, Burke was vicious and eager to pin Punk at every turn, but Punk remained resilient. Punk soon fought back, and had Burke down after the Elijah Express was turned into the Go To Sleep - but Marcus Cor Von made a beeline down to the ring, 'the Alpha Male' involving himself ahead of his ECW World Championship defense against Chris Benoit later tonight! Cor Von distracted the referee, but Punk kicked out of a roll-up attempt, kicking Burke in the head and delivering a plancha on the champ! Back inside, Burke attempted the Elijah Experience, but Punk locked in the Anaconda Vice, sealing the win. As Cor Von helped his fallen ally up the rampway after the match, Punk gloated in the New Breed's faces - Punk still free to challenge for the ECW World Championship: possibly as soon as this Tuesday night.
- Backstage Edge was seen unpacking his suitcase, 'the Rated R Superstar' surely with a lot on his mind as his master plan will be declared a success or failure tonight, in the finals of the vacant World Heavyweight Championship match against Batista. Edge soon looked up to see a familiar face, and there stood the man that ran him away from Monday Night RAW at One Night Stand: Randy Orton. 'The Legend Killer' had a cold look on his face, as he surly wished Edge luck in his match tonight. Edge had no words for his former Rated RKO partner, who soon walked away again: 'the Ultimate Opportunist' remaining focused on his big match tonight.
- Anastasia Rose was backstage standing by with an unlikely guest - the Hurricane. The masked man "flew" into the scene, greeting citizen Anastasia. She talked about the mind games he played with Chavo Guerrero, asking the superhero why he decided to start fighting for good against Chavo Guerrero. Hurricane said that in spite of previous events, he was a man of honor and a man of the people. And Chavo Guerrero did not represent honor, nor people: all he cared about was the WWE Cruiserweight Championship - but it all ends tonight, when the title he holds dearest will fade away: much like Chavo's friendship with Gregory Helms. Hurricane said he would claim the WWE Cruiserweight Championship tonight, and defend it with honor and dignity for all contenders on Friday Night SmackDown. Anastasia went to ask another question, but Hurricane had "flew" away into the night.
MATCH TWO // WWE Women's Championship - Fatal 4-Way: Candice Michelle (c) def. Melina, Mickie James & Beth Phoenix in 8:03 after Candice rolled up Melina. This was every Diva for herself, as Melina's issues with the recently returned 'Glamazon' Beth Phoenix continued - and Mickie James similarly knew what she had to do to reclaim the WWE Women's Championship. Mickie almost had Melina beat with the Mick Kick, but Beth broke up the fall. Beth showed to be dangerous, gorilla pressing Mickie over the top rope onto both Melina and Candice on the outside floor. Phoenix nearly had the win following a fisherman buster, but Candice broke it up. It came down to Candice and Beth, where Beth tried for a muscle buster - but Candice laid Beth out with Candywrapper. Mickie came in and dropkicked Candice down, when Melina struck, dropping Mickie James with the Primal Scream! Melina tried to pin, but Candice scored the upset, ever the underdog! Still the WWE Women's Champion, Candice backed up the rampway, leaving Beth, Melina and Mickie all furious in the ring.
- The WWE Chairman Shane McMahon was seen in his office on the phone with Armando Estrada, who was on loudspeaker. The ECW General Manager told Shane that he was stuck in traffic, blaming the terrible city of San Jose. Shane told Armando to get his ass here, stating that ECW has two matches tonight - and one of them has already happened and the GM's not here. Shane hung up before a panicking Cuban could explain. Shane smirked, saying that he was having fun with this. In waltzed the WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter - Shane telling MVP he was a fan of his work. MVP thanked the new boss, then explained that he was here to see Shane about something: he was Montel Vontavious Porter, the WWE United States Champion - a fighting one, no less. He was 'the Paragon of Virtue', 'the Franchise Player', 'Half Man, Half Amazing': and yet the WWE United States Champion was not in action at the Great American Bash. Shane saw his point, but explained that that was on his General Manager, Theodore Long. He feels that Long has not been focused of late as a GM. MVP completely agreed, talking about how he even took last Friday night off to spend time with his girlfriend Kristal. Shane told Porter that this was dually noted, and that he would be holding a meeting with the GMs later tonight and would bring it up. In the mean time, Shane told Porter to sit back, have a beer for America, and enjoy the fireworks.
- Carlito was walking the hall chomping on an apple, when he was approached by Torrie Wilson. Carlito asked Torrie what the hell he wanted - no love lost between these two. Torrie told Carlito that she knew that tonight was very important for his career, he wanted to beat 'the Nature Boy'. But Torrie asked Carlito to see it in his heart to not try and end Ric Flair's career, calling him a good friend. Carlito spat out his apple, and barked that two weeks ago on SmackDown that same good friend tried to cave his skull in with a lead pipe! Torrie retorted, saying that Carlito tried to end Flair's life on multiple occasions - but Carlito told Torrie that tonight was about him beating 'the Nature Boy', his former mentor. And tonight would be the night where Flair would face karma for everything 'the Dirtiest Player in the Game' had gone. Carlito told Torrie to stay away from the ring tonight - it was going to be ugly for her buddy, 'Naitch'.
MATCH THREE // The Great Khali (w/Runjin Singh) def. Kane in 7:28 after the Vise Grip. A rematch from WrestleMania 23, these two giants of Friday Night SmackDown had been at each other's throats for weeks, with both men causing the other's elimination in the World Heavyweight Championship tournament. For Kane it was about proving he was the superior monster on the SmackDown brand, whereas Khali was hell bent on avenging his loss from 'the Grandest Stage of Them All'. Kane tried some unorthodox high-risk stunts to rock Khali, including a diving clothesline and even a tope over the top rope: but Khali was not going down easy. Kane finally dropped Khali with the same bodyslam he nailed on Khali at WrestleMania, but Khali chopped his way free from the Chokeslam, then dropped Kane with the Tree Slam! Khali wasn't done though, as interpreter and manager Runjin Singh barked orders. Khali decided to lock in the Vise Grip we've seen from 'the Punjabi Nightmare' in recent weeks - and Khali continued to squeeze, to the point Kane became unresponsive, and the seven-footer had done what was thought to be impossible! Khali refused to release the hold after the match, as Kane began to cough up blood: it took three referees, but Khali managed to throw them all off - leaving Kane left unconscious, bleeding from the mouth in the ring.
- Todd Grisham was with the challenger in tonight's WWE Championship match Mr Kennedy, as Todd asked Kennedy if he felt any pressure going into this match tonight, and how tonight could impact his supposed rise to the top of the WWE. Kennedy told Todd that his rise to the top was inevitable - all it took was a little push. Kennedy explained that he set out to make a name for himself, and he did when he pinned John Cena three weeks ago on RAW. Kennedy said that he has John's number, and deep down John knew it. And after tonight, the prophecy will be fulfilled, and he will be the new face that the new WWE deserved. The new WWE Champion of the new WWE era. And he had all the faith in the world that Shane McMahon will make sure John Cena never be the champ - again. Kennedy walked away, yelling that the new champ was here.
MATCH FOUR // WWE Cruiserweight Championship: The Hurricane def. Chavo Guerrero (c) in 7:47 after the Eye of the Hurricane. 'The Latino Warrior' had been the WWE Cruiserweight Championship since February, but in that time he had lost everything dear to him in exchange for possession of that title. With a lot of enemies, he had Gregory Helms on his side - but Helms traded his alliance with Guerrero for his roots: returning as the Hurricane last Friday night on SmackDown. The fans were delighted to see Hurricane again, who flew around the ring, but Chavo soon took him down and went to work on him. Chavo tried ripping the mask from Hurricane, asking him if this was how he was going to repay him. Soon, Guerrero attempted to go to the top rope for the Frog Splash made famous by his late uncle Eddie Guerrero - when the lights went out, and a vignette aired for Rey Mysterio, showing that he would return at SummerSlam! 'The Master of the 619' had not seen since last October when Rey's knee was destroyed by 'the Latino Warrior, and Chavo watched like he had just seen a ghost! The distraction allowed Hurricane to crotch Guerrero, then hit the Eye of the Hurricane for the win! The Hurricane was the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion, while Chavo was in awe that an old rival was coming back for revenge!
- Chris Benoit was doing some intense warm-up exercises in the locker room when he was approached by Rebecca, looking for comment ahead of the anticipated ECW World Championship match against Marcus Cor Von. She asked Benoit how he felt going in, but before he could answer CM Punk entered the room. Benoit and Punk looked each other dead in the eye, as 'the Straight Edge Superstar' told Benoit that after what happened earlier tonight, he wouldn't be able to just stand to watch when Elijah Burke predictably interfered in this match. Benoit told Punk that he didn't need Punk's help, merely telling 'the Straight Edge Superstar' that this was the night the New Breed would be dethroned, and he was going to prove it - even if it meant making Cor Von and Burke tap out. Benoit warned Punk again, while Punk shouted a sarcastic good luck to 'the Rabid Wolverine'.
MATCH FIVE // ECW World Championship: Marcus Cor Von (c) def. Chris Benoit in 15:34 after the Pounce. 'The Alpha Male' was walking into this match after the New Breed had faced one pivotal loss earlier tonight, as despite his interference, Elijah Burke could not beat CM Punk and rid him from the ECW World Championship picture. Chris Benoit wanted nothing more than to take ECW back from the 'the Era of the New Breed', and claim the one World Championship that had eluded him his entire career. Cor Von was a formidable champion, managing to go hold for hold with the challenger, but 'the Rabid Wolverine' kept fighting, despite Cor Von changing up his offensive strategy to use more power and brute force. Benoit was resilient though, managing to take Cor Von up for five German suplexes during the match, but ultimately missed the Diving Headbutt. Cor Von's attempt of the Pounce went awry, as Benoit transitioned into the Crossface - when Elijah Burke showed up, just as CM Punk predicted! Benoit was quick to act, locking Burke in the Sharpshooter, when Cor Von came from behind with the Alpha Bomb for a near fall. Benoit kept fighting, but when he went up top and nailed the Diving Headbutt again, this time connecting. He covered, but Burke dragged the referee out! The referee got in Burke's face, when CM Punk ran down to ringside, bringing the fight to Burke! Punk pounded on Burke, when Benoit reached through the ropes and grabbed Punk by the hair to grab his attention, angry that 'the Straight Edge Superstar' had gotten involved. Punk elbowed Benoit right in the face, which dizzied Benoit - allowing Cor Von to capitalize with the Pounce! Benoit was livid after the match, while 'the Alpha Male' had once again narrowly come out the ECW World Champion still - Benoit glaring at Punk while Punk calmly responded that it was a mistake.
- Ric Flair sat in silence in his private dressing room, 'the Nature Boy' getting prepared for the upcoming grudge match against Carlito. Torrie Wilson nervously sat nearby, as Torrie asked Ric if he was sure he didn't want her at ringside tonight. Ric told Torrie that he knew she was worried. But what he wasn't was what Carlito said he was: he wasn't some geriatric senior clinging on to the past. He was still 'the Man'. He was the same man that won sixteen World Championships, the same man that took some of the all-time greats to the limit - and the same man that would make sure Carlito wouldn't walk out of tonight on his own two feet! Flair told Torrie that he didn't want her to see what he was going to do, because after Carlito tried to end his career, ruin his legacy, and cost him at every turn - it wasn't going to be ugly! Flair was fired up as he said that Carlito couldn't walk a mile in his shoes, and after tonight, Carlito wasn't going to be able to walk at all! 'The Nature Boy' said that he may be fifty-seven years old and the year is 2007: but in his heart, in his skin, he was thirty-one and the year is 1981, and he feels like he will walk that aisle and win his first World Championship! Flair woo'd at Torrie, who now smiled, wishing her good friend luck!
MATCH SIX // Ric Flair def. Carlito in 14:31 after the Figure-Four Leglock. Carlito and Ric Flair went straight into a brawl as the bell sounded, the former mentor and protegé with a lot of bad blood that all started when Carlito grew jealous of 'the Nature Boy's continued legacy, and he blind sighted his mentor several times, back in April and May. Flair was on a roll early, dropping the knee on Carlito and immediately going for the legs of Carlito, who cowered out. Soon Carlito found an opening, and chop blocked Flair. Carlito decided to play Flair's game against him, going after Flair's knees for his own: and to much success. But Flair was the wily veteran, the old lion fighting off the youth - Flair fighting back, but while Flair stumbled and the referee stepped in to check on 'the Nature Boy', Carlito low blowed Flair! 'The Dirtiest Player in the Game' was getting played at his own game, as Carlito continued the aggressive attack on his former mentor. Back and forth they went, when Carlito suddenly went on the attack - slamming Flair's legs into the ring post and locking in a Figure-Four around the ring post! Carlito then had the audacity to lock in the Figure-Four in the middle of the ring, where Flair was in agony - now his own famous submission locked in against him! But Flair, with the San Jose crowd behind him, managed to slowly turn it over - locking Carlito in pain, before he reached for the ropes desperately! Carlito was now looking to go in for the kill, attempting the Backstabber, but Flair kicked Carlito low from behind; Flair then locking in the Figure-Four Leglock! Carlito was riving in pain, reaching for the ropes - but Flair managed to backstroke with all of his might - and finally, Carlito tapped out! Flair limped to his feet, while Carlito had to be helped out of the ring by the referee: Flair was successful, but he had been tested in a hard fought effort against an up-and-coming great, in Carlito tonight.
- Elsewhere, the WWE Intercontinental Champion Umaga was visibly fired up for his upcoming No Holds Barred match against Bobby Lashley - Umaga ramming Super Crazy's head into a locker door! 'The Samoan Bulldozer' was on a rampage already, as he looked around at the Major Brothers, the Highlanders and Nunzio all laid out! Umaga let out a warcry, headed for what should be a real war!
MATCH SEVEN // WWE Intercontinental Championship - No Holds Barred: Bobby Lashley def. Umaga (c) in 16:50 after the Spear through a table. This one all started one month ago on RAW, where 'the Samoan Bulldozer' defended his title against Lashley in a match that wildly got out of control and ended up with Umaga sending Lashley flying off of the stage, putting Lashley out of action for a week. And ever since then, Lashley and Umaga have gotten into fights at first sight - Lashley out for revenge, even putting Umaga through the ringside barricade last Monday night on RAW. As for Umaga, he out to finish what he started. Tonight, there was no holds barred - the match could only end via pinfall or submission. Umaga jumped Lashley during this entrance, and they went at it in the ring, at ringside, and in the crowd as Lashley desperately wanted to take the WWE Intercontinental Championship from 'the Samoan Savage'. Umaga however soon started relenting on Lashley, scoring the Vader Bomb for a near fall. Umaga continued to attack, and soon introduced a 2x4 - but Lashley fired back, and used it on Umaga for sweet revenge. Lashley suplexed Umaga through four set up chairs, while Umaga used the ring bell as a weapon. The fight spilled into the crowd for a second time, where the fight escalated up into the stage area. Umaga got that far away look in his eye, and looked to throw Lashley off the stage again, but Lashley managed to powerslam Umaga on the steel! The two fought back down to ringside, where Umaga pulled out a table and set it up against the barricade, looking for the charging hip attack he had been known for: but Lashley dodged, and Umaga went through the table! Lashley now set up a table in the ring, and after several moments of fighting, Lashley broke free of the Samoan Spike, delivering the Spear through the table in the corner - claiming the WWE Intercontinental Championship! Lashley celebrated his win, victorious over 'the Samoan Bulldozer'.
- In his office, WWE Chairman Shane McMahon was holding a meeting with the SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long and ECW General Manager Armando Estrada, where he told the two GMs that this was not good enough for the WWE: they were both doing abysmally in their positions as General Managers. McMahon said that Teddy had become complacent, holding back WWE Superstars and focusing all of his time and attention on a relationship with a woman young enough to be his daughter, Kristal. Hell, his show is in disarray - he let the World Heavyweight Championship go vacant, and SmackDown has gone to the wolves. As for Estrada, he was late to the building - missing not one, but both of his brand's matches tonight, at the Great American Bash! Shane told Estrada he wasn't taking this job seriously enough. Shane elaborated that this could have flew under his father's watch: but he's not his father. Shane said that this was a new WWE, and demanded that the two of them get their acts together! Shane wasn't playing around, saying that this Tuesday and Friday night, he would personally be appearing to give the two of them the job evaluations they deserve. He asked the two if there were any questions, when Vickie Guerrero sheepishly spoke up. The Assistant General Mangaer asked Shane if he had any feedback to how she handled operations of SmackDown last Friday night. Shane matter of factly told her that he was in meetings all Friday, but he told her that he would be keeping a close eye. Shane got up to leave, but not before telling the two that that was what he wanted: someone like Vickie Guerrero, asking for feedback, showing initiative. Shane told the GMs he would see them this week on ECW and SmackDown. Armando quietly glanced at Vickie, telling her that he didn't even know her, and he hated her already.
- Batista was seen headed for the ring, ahead of the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament finals against Edge: tonight, a World Heavyweight Champion was definitely going to be decided, and 'the Animal' looked determined, as Matt Hardy, Paul London and Brian Kendrick and Finlay all shouted for Batista to give Edge hell - the time was now.
MATCH EIGHT // World Heavyweight Championship - Tournament Finals: Edge def. Batista in 14:59 after the Spear. It was all a part of 'the Rated R Superstar's elaborate plan: he made his SmackDown debut in shock and controversy that got the world talking, when at Vengeance: Night of Champions, he sabotaged a WrestleMania 23 rematch between 'the Animal' Batista and the Undertaker - sidelining the Undertaker with a torn bicep, and causing the title to be stripped and declared vacant. Edge proceeded to slide through the tournament, overcoming Ric Flair and Kane to get here. As for Batista, he managed to defeat Carlito and the Great Khali. Batista, who has not held the World Heavyweight Championship since WrestleMania, was eager to reclaim the gold - but 'the Rated R Superstar' stood in his way. Early on, Batista out-muscled Edge and cleared him from the ring, and Edge showed great reluctance against such a powerhouse. Edge was outmatched at every turn, but soon enough Edge showed deviance, going after the bicep of 'the Animal'. Similar to how the Undertaker was injured by him last month, 'the Ultimate Opportunist' tried to weaken the three-hundred pound powerhouse, hammering him brutally and trying to weaken him. Despite this, Batista managed to deliver a spinebuster on Edge, for a close near fall. Batista soon attempted the Batista Bomb, but the damage had been done and he collapsed - allowing Edge to continue the attack. Late in the match Edge motioned for the Spear, but Batista moved, then attempted a spear of his own, knocking the life out of the referee! Batista was in disbelief but fired up, looking for the Batista Bomb, but Edge low blowed Batista then bailed to the floor. Edge grabbed the World title and looked to use it, when Batista speared Edge! Batista looked for the Batista Bomb and actually got Edge up - but Edge clinged to the World Heavyweight Championship, slamming it down into Batista's head! Knocked silly, Edge delivered a Spear for the win. Edge was the winner of the tournament, and the new World Heavyweight Champion - ever 'the Ultimate Opportunist'. But there was sure to be hell to pay for 'the Rated R Superstar', with Batista out for blood now.
- - A vignette aired reviewing the rehabilitation of Triple H after he suffered a torn quadriceps muscle in January. 'The Game' returns soon: bigger, better, faster, stronger.
MATCH NINE // WWE Championship: John Cena (c) def. Mr Kennedy in 21:11 after the STFU. Mr Kennedy was poised for this opportunity, the opportunity to claim a World Championship. After being unsuccessful against Batista at the Royal Rumble, and the Undertaker at Judgment Day and One Night Stand: Extreme Rules for the World Heavyweight Championship. Although Kennedy had been unsuccessful, he had hung in there with the best, and as proved three weeks ago on Monday Night RAW, he could beat the WWE Champion John Cena. But his reasons were not helpful in his favor - as he had the support of the new WWE Chairman Shane McMahon, who laid claim that John Cena was a potential suspect behind Vince McMahon's untimely death in the tragic limousine accident on June 18. Kennedy claimed he could be the face of the WWE, and do it better than John - and that drove Cena over the edge. Cena was hell bent on retribution for all of Kennedy's claims, but he was interested in outsmarting Kennedy early on, as the two went hold for hold. Kennedy soon showed quickness to be a factor in gaining the advantage - and Kennedy began to work methodically on wearing Cena down. Cena slowly kept fighting back, and soon he was back in control, Cena now managing to outwrestle the challenger. But the loudmouth found a way back, through feigning an eye injury, before furiously fighting back and knocking Cena down with a Mic Check from nowhere. But Kennedy made a rookie mistake in not attempting the cover, Kennedy instead choosing to bide his time and punish Cena, as he took Cena around the ringside area, gloating that John was not cut out to be the face of the WWE - and proclaiming he was the right choice for the future. Kennedy continued to talk trash and slap Cena around, when Cena suddenly delivered an FU - covering Kennedy, but Kennedy miraculously powered out! Cena was in disbelief, as he continued to control Kennedy, until Kennedy himself caught Cena on the second rope. Kennedy went up and delivered the Green Bay Plunge, scoring one, score two - but Cena managed to kick out barely! Kennedy pounded his fist into the mat, as Kennedy could see the WWE Championship in his tracks: when Cena blocked the Mic Check, then delivered another FU on Kennedy - but Kennedy kicked out again! Not missing a beat, Cena transitioned into the STFU: and after moments of struggling for the ropes, Cena dragged him back into the centre, and Kennedy had no choice but to tap! Kennedy showed a lot of heart, but ultimately the WWE Champion came out on top - Cena on his knees in the ring, raising the WWE Championship high. But all of a sudden, Cena was punted in the skull by Randy Orton! Nobody realized where 'the Legend Killer' had come from - Orton smiling and slowly picking up the WWE Championship: Orton having delivered a lethal Punt to the champ! Backstage, Shane McMahon could be seen watching with a smile on his face at the prospect - as Orton held the WWE Championship high, as the Great American Bash went off the air.

July 23, 2007 - Sacramento, California - ARCO Arena (9,500) "...To Be Loved" by Papa Roach Live on the USA Network (3.7)
SHOW REPORT:
- WWE Champion John Cena made his presence known tonight in Sacramento to kick off RAW, the man that managed to overcome Mr Kennedy last night at the Great American Bash sliding into the ring and gracing the microphone to a largely mixed reaction. Cena asked ARCO Arena what was up, talking about how he should be full of praise for his fans and his opponent after a blockbuster of a match last night - but he's not. In fact, Cena didn't even have the opportunity to have his hand raised in victory last night. He said that he may have come out on top, and he may have come so close to losing the WWE Championship to one heck of a performer in Mr Kennedy - but it was an old friend that got in his way. One by the name of 'the Legend Killer' Randy Orton. Thankfully, Orton's Punt did not decapitate his head and send it into the stands to the horror of the people at the Great American Bash - and he's still here. Cena demanded Orton show himself, telling him if he wanted some, to come get some!
Instead, Shane McMahon responded, as the new WWE Chairman cockily stepped onto the stage. Shane received more boos than cheers, as the new owner clapped his hands in congratulation for John's victory last night. Shane told Cena that he did the unthinkable when he beat Mr Kennedy. Shane said that Kennedy tried with all of his might, but he couldn't defeat 'the Champ'. Shane however, said that that was on one night. Shane said that in his opinion, John Cena got lucky. Cena told Shane that speaking of luck, the timing of him becoming the new owner of the WWE, so soon after his late father's untimely death? That was lucky timing. Cena then told Shane that he was sure there was more than luck involved in Randy Orton treating his skull like a soccer ball after the WWE Championship match last night. Shane coyly told Cena that 'the Legend Killer' acted on his own accord - and he may have liked what he saw, but he wasn't so decided on Randy being the next challenger to Cena's title. Instead, Shane told Cena that he would be watching tonight's show very carefully, and next week in a fatal four-way match, who he believes should be in line for a title match, will compete with the winner going to face John at SummerSlam! As for John, he wanted to remain the face of the WWE so badly - he better be prepared, because tonight he will take on King Booker and Chris Masters: but he wouldn't be alone, because teaming with the WWE Champion, for the first time ever - the WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle! Shane smiled smugly, leaving Cena frustrated in the ring.
- William Regal was seen walking down a corridor with a bottle of mouthwash in hand, when he was approached by Melina, who asked Regal if he was really going to team up with 'the Paparazzi Princess' with breath like that. Regal asked Melina who she thought she was - reminding her that he couldn't help it: he'd spent all week trying to get the taste of Snitsky's rotten breath out of his mouth after he planted a wet one on him. Melina held her nose in disgust walking away - when Regal turned around to encounter Ron Simmons, who sniffed Regal, and yelled "DAMN!", startling an unimpressed Regal.
MATCH ONE // World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch def. Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard and JTG) in 5:45 after the sit-out spinebuster by Cade on JTG. Cryme Tyme had their sights set on the World Tag Team Championships, but first had to beat the champions in non-title competition. Cade and Murdoch were feeling disrespected as of late, believing they should be treated better by other WWE Superstars after defeating the Hardys for the World Tag Team Championships one month ago. Cade and Murdoch tried to keep Shad down and away from JTG, but the tag finally took place - and JTG almost scored the win after a flying neckbreaker on Murdoch. But La Résistance made their way down to ringside, Sylvain Grenier and Robert Conway appearing unimpressed by Cryme Tyme's antics. Meanwhile Cade struck, pinning JTG for the win. As Cade and Murdoch left victorious, the two French-Canadians got in the ring and began to pummel away at Shad and JTG, retribution after Cryme Tyme beat them in a match on RAW two weeks ago.
- Todd Grisham was backstage with Jeff Hardy, who he asked about his match tonight against the man that came so close to winning the WWE Championship last night, Mr Kennedy. Jeff told Todd that he'd been training hard to up his game and focus on singles competition - tonight was the night to put it into effect. Jeff said that he was driven by his ultimate dream of becoming WWE Champion, and reminded Grisham that he was Mr Money in the Bank. But he wanted to cash in when it counted. He said he'd been waiting twelve years for this moment, and he wanted to make it count. But suddenly, Randy Orton appeared, a callous smirk on his face. 'The Legend Killer' told Hardy to make it count while he could. Because if it wasn't John Cena, it would be Jeff Hardy: and he would take the WWE Championship away with him.
- Backstage Umaga was seen attacking Jim Duggan, 'the Samoan Bulldozer' clearly furious with his loss last night at the Great American Bash. 'Hacksaw' attempted to fight back with a right hand, then grabbed his trusty 2x4 - but the former WWE Intercontinental Champion jammed the Samoan Spike into the throat of Duggan, following up with a brutal headbutt laying Duggan out! But Umaga was suddenly faced by Sandman, who tapped the Singapore cane in his hand. Sandman told Umaga that if he wanted to fight, he would beat his tribal ass. Umaga gritted his teeth in Sandman's face and roared before leaving, the ECW Original saying he was taking that for a yes.
MATCH TWO // Sandman def. Umaga by disqualification in 2:19 after Umaga used the Singapore cane on Sandman. The ECW Original may have been a former ECW World Champion, he may have been one of the craziest stars to come out of Extreme Championship Wrestling - but he looked to be out of his depth against a crazed, barbarian-like Umaga. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion tried charging Sandman, who wisely sidestepped and started brawling with Umaga. Sandman tried to take Umaga down, but he was met by a big headbutt. Umaga nailed Sandman with the running hip attack in the corner, allowing Sandman to slip out to the floor - reaching for the Singapore cane. Umaga went after Sandman, and Sandman swung the cane: but Umaga caught it and dropped Sandman with the Samoan drop! Umaga then grabbed the Singapore cane and started whipping the ECW Original with it, ending the match! Umaga wouldn't stop hitting Sandman with it until 'the Samoan Bulldozer' broke the cane across his knee. The former champion rolled Sandman into the ring, where he climbed to the top and came off with a big Samoan Splash, then stomped to the back - an angry savage on a path of destruction tonight.
- Shane McMahon was seen watching the television in the back, impressed by the brute force of 'the Samoan Bulldozer' Umaga. The WWE Chairman contemplated Umaga as a WWE Championship contender and made a note on his notepad, when in walked Mr Kennedy. Kennedy quietly told Shane that he understood he wanted to see him. Shane told him he was right - what happened last night? Shane said that he had vested so much interest in seeing him dethrone John Cena, just for John to walk out in victory? Kennedy told Shane to give him another chance, he came so close to beating Cena and asked for him to watch his match tonight closely, because he would beat Jeff Hardy and would win the fatal four-way. Kennedy asked for the shot, to which Shane finally accepted Kennedy's proposal. But he'd better win. Kennedy nodded and left to prepare, while Shane appeared sceptical of Kennedy's claims.
- John Cena was in the locker room, the WWE Champion doing some stretches ahead of the intergender tag team match tonight. In walked the WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle, who told John that she was ready for anything tonight, but she was worried. She said that she wasn't just the WWE Women's Champion, she was a model. And she was worried about that being in jeopardy against King Booker and Chris Masters. John assured Candice that he wouldn't let them lay a finger on her. He said that Shane McMahon didn't want to send a message to her - he was after him. Cena said it was a test, and that tonight the two champions would beat Booker and Masters, and have their hands raised in victory.
MATCH THREE // Jeff Hardy def. Mr Kennedy in 10:31 after the Swanton Bomb. Kennedy needed to beat Hardy to prove that he was still a powerful player worth considering for the WWE Championship number one contender's match next week. But he was in there with an extremely motivated 'Charismatic Enigma', who wanted nothing more than to prove he was WWE Championship material. Hardy and Kennedy went back and forth, as Kennedy appeared to be more focused on the job at hand, as opposed to showboating like he had against John Cena last night. It was effective, as he worked over Hardy's ankle and tried to refrain the Money in the Bank holder from attempting high risk moves. But Hardy slowly fought back, though Kennedy kicked out of the Twist of Fate. Kennedy fired back and then went up top looking for the Kenton Bomb - to spite Hardy, when 'the Samoan Bulldozer' Umaga returned - Umaga trying to get involved in the match. Umaga's rattling the ropes crotched Kennedy, knocking him from the top: and it allowed Jeff to go up top and hit his own Swanton Bomb for the win! After the match Kennedy rolled out of the ring, as Umaga started attacking Hardy - Umaga delivering a devastating Samoan Spike to 'the Charismatic Enigma'! Umaga's path of destruction continued, making a prime example of Jeff Hardy tonight!
- Todd Grisham was standing by with King Booker, Queen Sharmell and Chris Masters ahead of the intergender tag team match against the champions, John Cena and Candice Michelle. Masters answered saying that they were just following orders of Shane McMahon. He said how they didn't want to hurt the WWE Women's Champion: but if she stepped in 'the Masterpiece's way of entering the fatal four-way match next week - he would. Booker asked Masters what he was talking about, telling Chris that he wouldn't be in any match next week: because 'the King' would be, and the WWE Championship was going to return to the Royal Family at SummerSlam. Masters reiterated, but Sharmell looked up and told Masters that it would be King Booker going to next week's number one contender's match. Masters rolled his eyes and said they'd see.
MATCH FOUR // King Booker and Chris Masters (w/Queen Sharmell) def. WWE Champion John Cena and WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle in 6:22 after the Book-End by Booker on Candice. An intergender tag team match that was made by Shane McMahon earlier tonight, an unfair position for Candice Michelle - as the WWE Chairman wanted to test John Cena's willingness to be the face of the WWE. Cena wrestled the match on his own, which he soon struggled with against the likes of King Booker and 'the Masterpiece', but Booker and Masters continued to have their differences: both men wanting to go on and face Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. This allowed Cena to make an unlikely hot tag to Candice, who dropkicked Masters into Booker and rolled Masters up for a very near fall. Candice went to tag in Cena again, but inches before making the tag, Randy Orton appeared, having pulled Cena from the apron! Orton ran from Cena, who chased him up the rampway - whilst back in the ring, Candice was left alone with the two Superstars, as Booker dropped the WWE Women's Champion with the Book-End for the three! Booker and Sharmell stood tall, causing Masters to get in Booker's face about stealing the win from him - when Cena turned around and saw what had taken place. Cena ran them from the ring, attending to a fallen Candice Michelle. This never would have happened if it wasn't for 'the Legend Killer' getting involved in Cena's business again tonight!
- Backstage Randy Orton was seen very full of himself for what transpired to allow Candice Michelle to face King Booker and Chris Masters on her own. Orton called it a part of the game, obviously referring to getting into John Cena's head. He was suddenly approached by Mark Henry, who asked 'the Legend Killer' if he was proud of himself. Orton said of course he was: any opportunity to take everybody's favorite WWE Superstar John Cena down a notch. 'The World's Strongest Man' said Orton was so clever, challenging him to a match tonight. Orton told Henry that he wouldn't want like to get in his way, he would wind up on the same ward as Mick Foley and Dusty Rhodes. The veteran told Orton that tonight, he was getting his ass kicked.
- Elsewhere, Umaga was seen suddenly attacking officials in the backstage locker room area - 'the Samoan Bulldozer' laying out anybody in his path - as it was revealed that the former WWE Intercontinental Champion had been attacking the Highlanders! Umaga roared, as more officials and backstage personnel arrived, trying to restrain the wild and untamed 'Samoan Bulldozer'!
MATCH FIVE // Santino Marella and Maria def. William Regal and Melina in 3:55 after Maria hit Melina with the running bulldog. Before the match 'the Italian Stallion' made his entrance and gave a personal, big introduction to his girlfriend Maria, who was making a rare appearance in the ring for this mixed tag team match. The difference in this bout and the match before it was that a man and a woman could not be legal at the same time. 'The Blackpool Villain' was getting the better of brutalizing Marella, but finally Marella made the tag to Maria, and her and Melina became legal! Melina was getting the better of Maria and looked for the California Split, but a distraction from Marella allowed Maria to turn it around, scoring a big upset against the former WWE Women's Champion! Melina was outraged after the match as William Regal attended to her, but Melina was appalled by her tag partner's breath. Meanwhile Marella paraded Maria around ringside high in her arms, and on top of her shoulders.
- Mr Kennedy was backstage, where Todd Grisham approached him looking for a comment from the man that came so close to beating John Cena last night, to losing to Jeff Hardy because of Umaga tonight. Kennedy was silent, until WWE Chairman Shane McMahon showed up to tell Kennedy that that was exactly what he was talking about - he wasn't championship material after all. And he wouldn't be in the fatal four-way match next week. Kennedy however had something else on his mind, telling Shane that he came so damn close last night to winning the WWE Championship, and now he's disregarding that because he lost because of "that ape" Umaga? Kennedy told Shane he deserved more, telling Shane again that he was the right man, and that he could beat John Cena. Shane simply sighed, telling Kennedy that it was a dog-eat-dog world, and to go out and prove himself like he did before, leaving Kennedy stranded.
MATCH SIX // Randy Orton def. Mark Henry in 4:34 after the Punt. 'The Legend Killer' had really p*ssed 'the World's Strongest Man' off, by not just trying to get into the head of the WWE Champion John Cena, but by allowing the WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle to be the recipient of being manhandled by King Booker. Mark Henry was on the attack, but Orton was wise and slid out of the ring when he was in danger. Using a hit-and-run strategy, Orton went after the legs of Henry, trying to weaken the big man. But Henry wasn't messing around, chasing Orton and even blocking the RKO. Mark had Orton ready for the World's Strongest Slam, but the knee of the veteran went out! Henry grimaced in pain, when Orton suddenly Punted Henry in the skull, for the win! Coldly, 'the Legend Killer' stepped up the rampway after the match - satisfied with his handiwork. Henry had to be checked on by an official.
- Shane McMahon was in his office watching in amazement at how Randy Orton slayed the beast, Mark Henry. The door slammed, and in walked John Cena. The WWE Champion wasn't in any mood to be messed with, as he asked Shane if he was proud of himself. Shane said on the contrary: it was John Cena, the face of the company, who allowed Candice Michelle to get manhandled on national television tonight. Shane told Cena that it proved everything he had on John Cena: he wasn't a man of the people, he wasn't worthy of representing this company. And that is why his mind was made up, and next week in a fatal four-way number one contender's match - it would either be Randy Orton, Umaga, King Booker, or Jeff Hardy going to face Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.
- Another man seething in rage was Umaga, who continued his ambush of WWE Superstars in the backstage area, pounding away at Hardcore Holly now! 'The Samoan Bulldozer' was once again separated from Holly by security, but Umaga was headed out to the ring now! 'The Samoan Bulldozer' shoved off several members of the security, as this madman grabbed referee Jack Doan and tossed him effortlessly into the ring. Umaga choked away at the official, full of rage - when Umaga suddenly let go of Doan. Climbing out of the ring, 'the Samoan Bulldozer' confronted Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler at ringside. Incensed, 'the King' stood up and removed his headset. He was sick of Umaga's attacks, when Umaga suddenly picked up the announce table cover, and tossed it at Lawler and J.R.! Ross went down, when Lawler suddenly started laying in punches on 'the Samoan Bulldozer'! Umaga and Lawler went back and forth, but Umaga quickly got the upperhand. Rolling Lawler into the ring, Umaga charged 'the King' with the hip attack, then picked Lawler's lifeless body off of the canvas and prepared for the Samoan Spike: when Triple H's music hit - and 'the Game' made his way down to the ring! 'The Cerebral Assassin' hadn't been seen since New Year's Revolution in January after being out with a torn quadriceps - but Triple H was back, and climbed into the ring to stand before 'the Samoan Bulldozer'! 'The Samoan Savage' and 'the King of Kings' stared each other down, which led to Umaga slowly leaving Lawler alone - leaving the ringside area. Triple H had the people in Sacramento chanting his name - and it appeared that Triple H was back for the betterment of Monday Night RAW.
OTHER NOTES:
- A graphic reminded us that WWE Chairman Shane McMahon would be present at both ECW on Sci-Fi tomorrow night and Friday Night SmackDown this week, evaluating the jobs of General Managers Armando Estrada and Theodore Long.

After the match, Dykstra attacked Rhodes until Hardcore Holly fended Dykstra off. - The Highlanders (Robbie and Rory McAllister) def. Jason Styles and Ryan Cool in 4:00 after the double reverse neckbreaker on Cool. - Snitsky def. Tony Jones in 1:58 after the big boot. - Mickie James def. Jillian Hall in 6:20 after the Mickie-DT.

July 24, 2007 - Fresno, California - Save Mart Center (9,000) "Don't Question My Heart" by Saliva Aired on the Sci-Fi Network (1.6)
SHOW REPORT:
- ECW on Sci-Fi kicked off, just forty-eight hours separated from the Great American Bash, to the sight of ECW General Manager Armando Estrada waiting around in the parking lot for the arrival of the WWE Chairman. A limousine pulled up with the license plate reading "SHANE 0 MAC", and out stepped Shane McMahon. Armando attempted to play it cool on the night of his job evaluation, offering Shane a cup of coffee and greeting him warmly to ECW. Shane didn't even make eye contact, but did take the coffee. Shane told Armando that they had business to attend to.
MATCH ONE // Chuck Palumbo def. Tommy Dreamer in 6:35 after Full Throttle. Palumbo was coming off a decisive victory against Val Venis last week, which led to 'the Big Valbowski' seemingly losing his mojo and going home not to be heard from since. The ECW Original meanwhile wanted to remind everybody of the glory days of ECW, and brought the fight to a game and motivated Palumbo. But in the closing moments of the match the theme of John Morrison played, distracting 'the Innovator of Violence' - allowing for the finish to take place. Palumbo stood in dominance and left on his motorcycle, while Dreamer was still looking for a way to get John Morrison to play some games of his own.
- ECW General Manager Armando Estrada was showing the WWE Chairman around the halls of the Save Mart Center. Armando pointed out an incredibly dull fact about the city of Fresno, noting that the raisin industry was started in the city when some grapes were accidentally allowed to dry out. Shane told Armando he'd been in Fresno before, and that the fact a bunch of idiots actually discovered raisins in an idiotic city did not interest him. Panicking, Estrada introduced him to the ECW locker room - but upon opening a door, the Boogeyman stood glaring at the two authority figures. Boogeyman rhymed that Armando's clock was ticking, and announced himself as the Boogeyman. In response, Armando calmly closed the door shut and asked Shane if they should move on. The Chairman sipped his coffee in disinterest.
- Rebecca was backstage standing by with John Morrison, who she asked whether he had anything to do with costing Tommy Dreamer his match tonight. 'The Shaman of Sexy' refuted the claim, telling Rebecca that he had better things to do than concern himself with a dark man at war with himself, like Tommy Dreamer. Morrison said that the difference between himself and Tommy is that he is someone that looks as good as he does - and everybody knows it: and Tommy Dreamer is, well, Tommy Dreamer. Morrison said that he was 'the Tuesday Night Delight', and tonight he was going to prove it when he took on SmackDown's Finlay.
- MATCH TWO // Big Daddy V (w/Matt Striker) def. Jimmy Cruz and Victor Calvio in 1:29 after the Samoan Drop by V on Cruz, on top of Calvio. Before the match Matt Striker took to the microphone to announce the superiority of his man, 'the Mastodon' Big Daddy V. Striker said that V has been under ill guidance for much of his career, but now he has awakened the true potential of 'the Mastodon', and with him by his side, Big Daddy V was going to take ECW by force. He decimated Cruz and Calvio single handedly, easily scoring the win.
- Chris Benoit was seen backstage, 'the Rabid Wolverine' seen for the first time since the unfortunate loss to Marcus Cor Von at the Great American Bash. Benoit was still livid, asking backstage personnel if they had seen CM Punk anywhere. Soon, Rebecca approached Chris and asked for comment - but Benoit was not in the mood for games. Benoit told Rebecca that he would be the ECW World Champion if it wasn't for that b*stard screwing his chance up. Benoit told Rebecca that if he saw him, to immediately tell him right away, storming off.
- Extreme Exposé were seen waiting around in the backstage corridor, Kelly Kelly, Layla and Brooke suddenly approached by Armando Estrada asking the Divas how they were doing. He personally introduced the WWE Chairman Shane McMahon to Extreme Exposé, and for the first time tonight Shane smiled upon seeing them as the trio rubbed up against him. Armando talked about how this Friday night on SmackDown these beautiful women would surely win the Summer Heat bikini contest. Armando continued talking about how not on Friday nights, nor on Monday nights, could you find this sort of beauty. Shane wasn't listening, as Brooke whispered in the boss's ear.
MATCH THREE // Stevie Richards def. Mike Knox in 3:41 after the backslide. Mike Knox had returned to ECW on Sci-Fi shortly following the WWE Draft last month, and wanted nothing more than to make a name for himself. But against the wily veteran Stevie Richards, the ECW Original was trying to remain above the surface against the imposingly larger Knox. Knox was able to go on offense quite easily, but Richards was slippery and managed to back out of a powerbomb, reversing it for a big upset against Knox! Richards' victory went short lived however, as Knox quickly clotheslined Richards down and put the boots to the ECW Original. Knox started choking on Richards, but Super Crazy from Friday Night SmackDown hit the ring, delivering a hurricanrana to Knox, sending him from the ring! Another ECW Original, Super Crazy had come to the aid of Stevie Richards - raising Richards' hand in victory, and Mike Knox's return to ECW on Sci-Fi had not gone according to plan!
- The New Breed were seen backstage, Elijah Burke and the ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von discussing the celebration party to end all celebration parties coming up later tonight. 'The Elijah Experience' told Cor Von that this party would be off the hook, and that he had secured the invitation of the Chairman, Shane McMahon to join them on the biggest night on ECW since the dawning of the Era of the New Breed. 'The Alpha Male' was all smiles, telling Burke that this was going to be good.
- Mike Knox was seen stomping through the corridor, screaming that he wanted Super Crazy. He kicked a trash can over, and who would fall out, but Hornswoggle! The leprechaun got up to his feet and looked at Knox, hissing like a cat at the much larger Mike Knox. Knox closed in, when Finlay arrived to defend his little buddy. 'The Fighting Irishman' clutched his shillelagh and warned Mike not to mess with 'the Little Bastard'. Finlay told Hornswoggle to follow, ready for Finlay's match with John Morrison next.
MATCH FOUR // Finlay (w/Hornswoggle) def. John Morrison by count-out in 13:22 after Morrison ran away from the match. 'The Fighting Irishman' had arrived on ECW on Sci-Fi, and he wanted to shut the mouth of 'the Shaman of Sexy'. John Morrison has proven to be poised with confidence and arrogance, declaring himself 'the Tuesday Night Delight'. Unfortunately, despite his refusal to admit the fact, he had made a powerful enemy in Tommy Dreamer, antagonizing the ECW Original yet refusing to face him in an Extreme Rules match. Finlay proved to be tough to beat, the smash-mouth style humbling Morrison during this match. But Morrison used his "infinite wisdom" to have Finlay secured, talking trash to Hornswoggle, who pounded the canvas in order to get Fresno behind 'the Fighting Irishman'. Finlay finally did so, and nearly scored a win after catching Morrison in mid air with a European uppercut. But Morrison was wise to Finlay's attacks and slipped free from the Celtic Cross, escaping to the floor for a breather. Hornswoggle was in hot pursuit however, chasing Morrison up the aisleway - where Tommy Dreamer appeared to corner Morrison! 'The Innovator of Violence' wanted some of Morrison for himself, and trapped, Morrison dove into the crowd, escaping the leprechaun and the ECW Original! All the while, Finlay won via count out - and despite the circumstance, Finlay celebrated his win with Hornswoggle in the ring.
- Chris Benoit was seen meeting with the Major Brothers in the parking lot area, Brett and Brian Major appearing to tell 'the Rabid Wolverine' that they hadn't seen 'the Straight Edge Superstar' anywhere tonight. All the while, CM Punk was seen arriving behind the three - and Punk looked to be all business as he headed into the building in Fresno.
- In the ring, balloons were everywhere and an easel stood in the ring of Marcus Cor Von and Elijah Burke, gracing the ECW World Championship. The New Breed began to make their way to the ring, as Elijah Burke pointed back and bowed before the ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von, who was once again dressed to impress tonight. Not just a beast in the ring, but 'the Alpha Male' had acquired a distinctive style, which the announce team compared to a certain Samoan former WWE Champion turned Hollywood movie star. In the ring, 'the Elijah Experience' thanked the people of Fresno for coming to see the New Breed celebrate the greatness of what has become of ECW on Sci-Fi under their leadership! Burke said that he wished it would have been in a much better city, like Los Angeles, or hell they'd even take the cesspool of San Francisco over this city of morons. He jested, but said that it hasn't been easy making ECW on Sci-Fi the place to be, and the founding fathers of the Era of the New Breed had to thank a special somebody for their contributions: introducing the ECW General Manager Armando Estrada.
Out came the Cuban General Manager, who wandered out clapping for the New Breed - all the while Marcus Cor Von and Elijah Burke applauded the GM. Estrada climbed into the ring and shook hands with both men, as Cor Von commented that Armando was the greatest General Manager in the WWE: that he believed in Cor Von and Burke: and all three of them collectively made ECW the best it has been in years - maybe even ever! Loud boos for that line, as 'the Alpha Male' noted that there may be critics of Armando's, but the New Breed wanted to help out their buddy Armando - much like he had done for them: asking Chairman Shane McMahon out to the ring. The WWE Chairman arrived, not looking too enthralled about the celebration party in the ring. McMahon climbed inside, as Burke and Cor Von clapped for the new boss. Burke congratulated Shane on the job, telling him he was doing a damn fine job. Cor Von agreed that Shane was filling the void his late, great father Vince McMahon had left. Shane thanked the New Breed - but then told the two that to those guys, it was Mr. McMahon! Cor Von and Burke apologized for talking out of line, but Cor Von claimed that they invited Mr McMahon here tonight to prove to him that he had the wrong idea about how Armando runs ECW. After all, you have a fighting champion like Marcus Cor Von: one of the best. He's a great dresser, he can handle himself on the mic, and he's the elite of the elite inside this squared circle.
Shane nodded, congratulating Cor Von on his win at the Great American Bash. But Shane wasn't impressed: he said that all this shows to him is that Armando Estrada, as the GM, holds no power over his employees. He said that as for Marcus Cor Von being the ECW World Champion: he thinks that Marcus is a coward! The fans cheered, as Shane told Cor Von that he believed he couldn't hang on to that title if it wasn't for Elijah Burke - and if he could? He demanded Cor Von prove him wrong! The New Breed had no response, and neither did Estrada. But CM Punk soon made his arrival, 'the Straight Edge Superstar' making his first appearance since beating Elijah Burke at the Great American Bash. Punk got into the ring, where Punk snatched Burke's microphone. Punk told the gentlemen to excuse his ignorance, reminding McMahon, the New Breed and Estrada of his name. Punk continued, declaring that he wanted his shot at the ECW World Championship. Punk then struck Cor Von with the microphone, and it was Punk against both members of the New Breed!
Punk sent Cor Von through the easel of himself, while McMahon and Estrada fled the ring. But the numbers game proved too much, as the New Breed started attacking Punk and putting the boots to him. All the while, Shane shook his head in disapproval. Cor Von set up for the Pounce, when Chris Benoit suddenly charged the ring - 'the Rabid Wolverine' taking down both men, then delivering three German suplexes to Burke! Benoit looked to attack Cor Von, but CM Punk came from behind, laying Benoit out with the Go To Sleep! New Breed fled the ring, while Punk grimaced, glaring down the ECW World Champion. Shane appeared intrigued in Punk, as he was willing to go to any length to get another shot at the ECW World Championship!
OTHER NOTES:
- During the show, clips showed the rise of the New Breed, including their formation driven by hate for the ECW Originals; Marcus Cor Von winning the ECW World Championship at One Night Stand: Extreme Rules; his win against CM Punk at Vengeance: Night of Champions; and 'the Alpha Male' managing to come out on top at the Great American Bash, against Chris Benoit.
- Joey Styles and Tazz speculated on whether CM Punk intended to cost Chris Benoit the ECW World Championship at the Great American Bash, showing a slow-motion replay of Punk elbowing Benoit in the face, which led to Marcus Cor Von capitalizing for the win. Tazz believed Punk was hiding something from everybody, but Joey vehemently denied such a claim.
- It was revealed that Triple H would be back with his first comments since returning from a torn quadriceps and confronting Umaga, live on RAW this coming Monday night.
- A graphic aired, promoting the Summer Heat bikini contest this coming Friday night on SmackDown, featuring not just the Divas of SmackDown including Michelle McCool, Ashley, Torrie Wilson, Maryse and Victoria, but ECW's own, Extreme Exposé and Trinity.
- An advertisement aired, promoting WWE SummerSlam, live on pay-per-view on Sunday, August 26.

July 27, 2007 - Fresno, California - Save Mart Center (9,000) "Rise Up 2006" by Drowning Pool Broadcast on The CW (2.6)
SHOW REPORT:
- The theme of the new World Heavyweight Champion hit to kick off Friday Night SmackDown, bringing out Edge, five days separated from his somewhat controversial victory against 'the Animal' Batista. 'The Rated R Superstar' gloated his new won title to the negative Fresno crowd, as the shades-draped Canadian smirked en route to the ring. Edge welcomed everybody to the brand he was going to make famous, because he was standing before them right where he should be: on the precipice of Friday Night SmackDown! Edge said that he wanted to take a moment to thank all of his fans for the support, having to go to such great lengths to win the gold - but the truth is, he doesn't need to thank anybody but himself! Edge referred to the great lengths he truly went to: he took the Undertaker out on the shelf. He concentrated the competition - and he capitalized when he beat 'the Animal' at the Great American Bash to become our World Heavyweight Champion. Edge raised the title high, as he declared SmackDown his home, in smug arrogance.
His coronation would not last long however, as Theodore Long soon made his way down the aisle. The SmackDown General Manager did not appear happy with 'the Ultimate Opportunist's antics, as Long told Edge to hold on a minute. Teddy said that Edge may think he can come in to Friday Night SmackDown and not put in the same work that so many other Superstars long for, but how he won that title against Batista would not go forgotten. Edge told Teddy that on the contrary, what he did was genius initiative. Edge asked if any other SmackDown Superstar would even think to take a calculated risk that he did. He said that he was a pioneer. Teddy told Edge that he was self-destructive, at a push. He had a right mind to strip Edge of the title right here and award it to Batista tonight! Long hesitated, when Edge asked Long if that was really the right move to make with Shane McMahon breathing down his neck. Edge told Long that the best thing he could do right now was to take himself to the back, and sit down and drink coffee with the real authority, Chairman Shane McMahon, and reconsider his career. Because he was the champion, and he deserved to be the champion.
Finally Batista stomped down to the ring, 'the Animal' in no mood to play games tonight after being screwed out of the World Heavyweight Championship again at the Great American Bash. 'The Animal' received a loud ovation in Fresno, as Edge fled from the ring. Batista glared Edge down as he told Edge he'd better run from him, because this was ridiculous. Batista told Teddy that he wanted his rematch, claiming that he should be the World Heavyweight Champion right now, and the only reason Edge was champion was because he was a yellow-belly punk that weaselled his way in through the back door. Long sighed as he related to Batista, but told Dave that Shane McMahon already had plans for him tonight, as much as he'd love to see Batista kick Edge's ass. The World Heavyweight Champion had a big smirk on his face from ringside, as meanwhile Teddy announced to Batista his opponent tonight would be coming out right now: Carlito! Batista rolled his eyes in frustration, as the vexed Carlito came out for their match.
MATCH ONE // Batista def. Carlito by count-out in 5:26 after Carlito fled from the ring. 'The Animal' was in a foul mood after falling short of winning the World Heavyweight Championship that has eluded him since WrestleMania again last Sunday at the Great American Bash. Meanwhile Carlito looked to reshuffle the deck following his loss to Ric Flair. Carlito was arrogant and went to work on the powerhouse, but Batista was in no mood and almost scored the win after a big clothesline. Carlito fought off the Batista Bomb and hit the Backstabber, just for Batista to get his foot on the bottom rope - and soon after Batista nailed Carlito with a Spinebuster! But Carlito rolled out of the ring, and packed up and hightailed it! 'The Animal' was furious, as Carlito backed up the aisleway with a provoking grin on his face. Batista could not believe his luck.
- WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter was in his locker room drinking a protein shake, when in burped Matt Hardy holding one of his own. MVP asked Hardy what he thought he was doing, copying him? Hardy didn't know what 'the Franchise Playa' was talking about, that he had to keep in prime condition. MVP asked Hardy what kind of prime condition he was in, compared to him. MVP called himself a 'Paragon of Virtue', and that Matt was just some redneck that flies around and throws his fingers in the air. Hardy told Porter that that may be true, and he may be a great athlete - but he may not be a better athlete than him. Hardy took another swig and left, leaving Porter to mumble over how irritating Hardy was.
- MATCH TWO // WWE Cruiserweight Championship: The Hurricane (c) def. Chavo Guerrero in 7:28 after the backslide. This was a rematch from the Great American Bash, where Chavo lost the title to his former friend Gregory Helms - or should we say, the Hurricane - who beat 'the Latino Warrior' after a vignette aired for Rey Mysterio, which haunted Guerrero costing him the match. Guerrero was on the attack tonight and out for revenge, but as Guerrero showboated over his former ally, another package aired for Rey Mysterio, this time showing of how Guerrero shattered Mysterio's knee with a steel chair last October, putting him out on the shelf. The package showed he was coming for Guerrero, and he was mystified by the news. It allowed Hurricane to backslide free of the Gory Bomb, retaining the title! Guerrero was furious about the loss.
- In his office, Theodore Long was talking to Kristal, wishing his girlfriend luck ahead of her participation in the Summer Heat bikini contest. Robed up, Kristal wished she could show Teddy a sneak peek, but Long told Kristal that he could see her in it later, and said she was drop dead gorgeous and would surely win. They almost kissed, but in walked Shane McMahon. The WWE Chairman cordially wished Kristal luck and asked her for a moment with the General Manager. With her gone, Shane told Teddy that he needed to remember that this was a place of business and that there was no room for smut like that around here. Long told Shane that Kristal was his girlfriend, but Shane told Teddy that he has six other days of the week for that. He barked at Long to focus on his brand, or lose it! In walked The Miz with Brie and Nikki, and Shane saw this as the perfect time to remind Long of how he almost drove Miz away from SmackDown and made him quit. Miz smugly looked on as Shane told Teddy they needed to handle future stars with respect. He asked Miz what they could do for him. Matter of factly, Miz reminded them of how he was humiliated on his own show, MizTV, last week by Ric Flair. And he wanted a match with 'the Nature Boy' tonight. Teddy tried to say that Vickie Guerrero informed him that Miz and Carlito set up Flair last week, but Shane cut him off, granting Miz the match! Miz was ecstatic, thanking the new boss! Long was gobsmacked by Shane's decision-making.
MATCH THREE // Matt Hardy and WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick def. WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter and The World's Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas) in 13:42 after the Twist of Fate by Hardy on MVP. After the previous interactions between Matt Hardy and the WWE United States Champion, 'the Franchise Playa' had assembled quite the team to take on Hardy and the WWE Tag Team Champions. It was fast-paced action where London and Kendrick were involved, but Porter and the expertise of Haas and Benjamin were able to put a stop to that. The match continued with both teams going back and forth, but in the closing moments Porter hit the Drive-By Kick on Kendrick and got a little too cocky, allowing Hardy to score the upset over the champ. MVP grabbed a microphone after the match, unable to accept the fact he lost. He told Hardy he wanted a rematch, one-on-one, next week!
- A vignette aired for the Great Khali, showing the brute power and strength used to put down Kane last Sunday at the Great American Bash. 'The Punjabi Nightmare' yelled in his native tongue, as Runjin Singh declared that 'the Big Red Monster' would not be seen for a while after having his head caved in with the dreaded Vice Grip. Singh warned all SmackDown Superstars not to step in the Great Khali's way.
- Nunzio was in the ring dressed in his finest going-out clothes, as the Sicilian eagerly couldn't wait to be the master of ceremonies for the anticipated Summer Heat bikini contest! He welcomed out the ladies for the "match", including Ashley, Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Kristal and Maryse from SmackDown; and Kelly Kelly, Layla, Brooke and Trinity from ECW. All of the ladies were permitted fifteen seconds to disrobe and flaunt their stuff - and all participated freely, much to the bawking of the announcers and the delight of the Fresno crowd. But as Nunzio started to discuss who should win, he could not believe he was surrounded by so many beautiful women in bikinis and started trying his luck with Ashley, who gladly returned the favor. Then Torrie Wilson hugged him. Then Extreme Exposé approached Nunzio and all kissed him on the cheek! Nunzio subsequently awarded the contest to Extreme Exposé! This caused complaints from Trinity and Victoria, who then attacked the ECW Divas! A catfight broke out, with everybody getting involved - even Nunzio, rolling around with Trinity and Michelle McCool until being booted out of the ring by Victoria. Finally the ring was cleared of the two troublemakers, as the SmackDown Divas and Extreme Exposé stood tall, bouncing around in their bikinis in the ring! Victoria and Trinity were furious.
- Chavo Guerrero was backstage furious about facing another loss tonight against the Hurricane. 'The Latino Warrior' finally met with Assistant General Manager Vickie Guerrero, confiding in her that Rey Mysterio was screwing with him, and that it needed to stop. Vickie didn't know what to say or do for him, but her nephew pleaded with him to do something, to give him Rey Mysterio. Vickie was hesitant as she wasn't in charge right now with Theodore Long and Shane McMahon discussing matters - but she'd talk to them for Chavo. Chavo was happy, thanking Vickie for her help. Vickie lastly told Chavo that if this match does get granted, she wanted Chavo to know that he was in this by himself.
MATCH FOUR // World Heavyweight Champion Edge def. Funaki in 3:52 after the Spear. Before the match, 'the Rated R Superstar' once again graced the microphone and said that Shane McMahon had allowed him to come out here and have a match with whomever he wanted, and so this was his choice. He really hyped up the name of his opponent tonight: a veteran with a never-say-die attitude, and experience from around the world: former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Funaki. Funaki was a formidable foe, but definitely not to Edge's calibre, as he made short work of Funaki. 'The Ultimate Opportunist' stood in celebration with his newly won gold, while Batista was seen in the backstage area, looking on in added frustration of the World Heavyweight Champion.
- Anastasia Rose was backstage with Ric Flair ahead of his match with The Miz, as she asked 'the Nature Boy' about how he felt after defeating Carlito at the Great American Bash. Flair said that he felt good, like he was getting back on track. He flirted with Anastasia a little, telling her that he felt good talking to her right now - but nothing would be more satisfying that beating the snot out of that punk kid tonight after how he tried to insult his legacy last week. What was on his mind after tonight? World Heavyweight Championship number seventeen! Woo!
MATCH FIVE // Kevin Thorn (w/Ariel) def. Jimmy Wang Yang (w/Shannon Moore) in 3:22 after the Crucifix Bomb. This was the in-ring return of 'the Gothic Prince' Kevin Thorn after being sidelined with an injury last April. This was also Thorn's debut on Friday Night SmackDown, having been brought over as a part of the WWE Supplemental Draft. Wang Yang was no easy foe, but the dark and brooding vampire showed a new brute side to him and pounded away at the redneck while 'the Duchess' Ariel watched on. Wang Yang hit the moonsault but Thorn amazingly caught him and slammed him down for a near fall. After that, the finish took place, and Thorn stood dominantly - passionately kissing his duchess Ariel: tongues involved.
- Shane McMahon and Theodore Long continued their conversation in the office of the General Manager, the WWE Chairman telling Long that he hoped he understood that this was for the betterment of Friday Night SmackDown. He said that all of this paperwork was important to how the WWE under Shane McMahon's leadership went, and if Long couldn't comply, then maybe it was time for a different career choice. Begrudgingly, Long accepted. Vickie Guerrero arrived, as Shane actually appeared delighted to see her. She told Shane and Teddy about a great idea for a match at SummerSlam, relaying the request that her nephew had pleaded for: Chavo Guerrero against Rey Mysterio in Mysterio's first match back from injury. Shane clapped and seemed excited, asking Teddy if he thought it was a great idea or what. Long flatly said it was, to which Shane told Vickie to get the match signed - and if she continued the way she was going, we could be looking at a Co-General Manager. Shane asked Teddy how that sounded - and he again, seemed dejected. The Chairman left, congratulating a blooming Vickie on a job well done! Long was losing his footing.
MATCH SIX // Ric Flair vs The Miz (w/Brie and Nikki) never got started. 'The Nature Boy' was making his way to the ring when The Miz jumped Flair from behind on the aisle, the youngster trying to make a name for himself and get a cheap advantage on 'the Dirtiest Player in the Game' before the bell even sounded. But Flair fought back valiantly, chopping away at Miz against the ring apron - when Carlito came from behind, attacking his rival Flair! Surely payback for the loss at the Great American Bash, Carlito and Miz put the boots to Flair in the ring, when Batista marched down to the ring - 'the Animal' fending Carlito and Miz off! Soonafter, Theodore Long made his way out to the aisleway. The SmackDown General Manager declared that all night long he's had to sit and take orders from Shane McMahon, but Shane had left the building, and SmackDown was still his show. He restarted the match: making it a tag team match!
MATCH SEVEN // Batista and Ric Flair def. Carlito and The Miz (w/Brie and Nikki) in 8:04 after the Batista Bomb on Carlito. It was an impromptu Evolution reunion for 'the Animal' and 'the Nature Boy', who had both had their matches with Carlito and the Miz tampered by the actions of the Caribbean and the loudmouth; who both had their problems with 'the Nature Boy'. Batista had a chip on his shoulder in wanting the World Heavyweight Championship, and Edge could be seen watching with intent from the backstage area. Miz mocked Flair and even attempted the Figure-Four Leglock, but Flair easily kicked him off. Flair turned it around and locked the Figure-Four in on Miz, which allowed Batista to block the Backstabber, and hit the Batista Bomb on Carlito, granting him the victory! Batista and Flair had their hands raised like it was 2004, the one-time World Tag Team Champions hugging it out mid-ring.
- Backstage, the World Heavyweight Champion Edge had seen enough as he was headed out of the building. 'The Rated R Superstar' was putting his luggage in the trunk of his car when SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long confronted Edge. Edge asked him why he wasn't still cuffed to the radiator, to which Long told Edge that Shane McMahon wasn't here, and he was sick of taking orders - especially from the likes of him. Long made it official: at SummerSlam, Edge would defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Batista! Edge told Long that we'd see about that, telling Teddy that he'd pay for this - getting in the car and driving away. Long didn't care what Shane McMahon thought, he was doing what was right, for the betterment of Friday Night SmackDown.
OTHER NOTES:
- It was made official that Matt Hardy would take on Montel Vontavious Porter next week on Friday Night SmackDown.

July 30, 2007 - Tucson, Arizona - Tucson Convention Center (6,000) "...To Be Loved" by Papa Roach Live on the USA Network (3.7)
SHOW REPORT:
- Monday Night RAW kicked things off big, with the grand return of Triple H! 'The King of Kings' made his official return during the closing moments of last week's RAW, when 'the Samoan Bulldozer' Umaga, on a path of chaos, looked to be about to put a close to the illustrious career of Jerry 'the King' Lawler. Triple H looked more cut than ever as he climbed into the ring and basked in chants of his name from the packed out Tucson Convention Center. Finally, he spoke, exclaiming that it was good to be back. 'The Game' said that he's been out on the bench with a torn up quad for the past seven months, that doctors thought it would be twice as long before he could make his return to the ring - but you can't keep 'the King of Kings' away from his kingdom, and he was back and he was here to fight! The fans erupted, as 'the Cerebral Assassin' continued to lead the fans in chanting his name. Triple H said that there has been one man, if you could call him that, that he's had his eye on - 'the Game' telling Umaga to come on down and fight him: because it's been too long, and he's looking to kick 'the Samoan Bulldozer's ass!
Instead, Shane McMahon interrupted 'the Game'. The WWE Chairman made his presence known, approaching the ring to join his one time brother-in-law. Shane had a smile on his face as he greeted Hunter warmly, telling him that it was great to have him back on RAW. He said that he admired Hunter's determination to just come out here and take what he wanted, and he is excited by the idea of Triple H taking on Umaga in a battle to end all battles - who wouldn't? But there had been some changes, as he's sure Hunter was well aware of. Shane reminded Triple H that he is the man running the WWE right now, and he should have come to him first before issuing callouts on national television. The crowd booed, when Triple H told Shane that he didn't forget Shane was the Chairman: he just didn't care. Triple H said that he's happy for Shane, after all, he's got a new hobby now that his father's dead - but just like when Vince was in charge, 'the King of Kings' did as he pleased.
Shane appeared irked, when Umaga made his way out. 'The Samoan Bulldozer' appeared incensed, and it appeared that despite Shane's authority as the WWE Chairman, Umaga and Triple H were about to go at it! Umaga stomped down to the ring to battle, and despite Shane trying to get between them, 'the Game' and 'the Samoan Savage' started going at it! The action spilled out to the ringside area, where Umaga sent Triple H into the steel steps, but when Umaga charged 'the Game' for the hip attack, Triple H moved, and Umaga sailed through the steps! Triple H looked to move in on 'the Samoan Bulldozer', but security suddenly intercepted the fight! The crowd booed, as Triple H and Umaga were restrained by security - Shane shouting at 'the Game'. Umaga tried to get at 'the Cerebral Assassin' again, but security started to back Triple H up the rampway. A chaotic start to Monday Night RAW!
- Melina was backstage drinking a bottle of water when she was approached by Jillian Hall, singing in circles around her. Melina asked what she wanted, and Jillian continued to sing her theme music. Hall commented that she didn't hear Melina over her loss to Maria of all people last week. Melina told Jillian that she would be getting even with her tonight, but Jillian simply laughed and told 'the Paparazzi Princess' that that was great. While Melina was going to lose to Maria again tonight, she would be putting all of her talents into claiming the WWE Women's Championship. Melina was not happy, as Jillian left singing about how she would beat Candice Michelle tonight.
MATCH ONE // Cody Rhodes (w/Hardcore Holly) def. Kenny Dykstra in 3:35 after the sunset flip. Before the match Kenny Dykstra was in the ring on the microphone, talking about how he was the most underrated Superstar on Monday Night RAW - but that would all change tonight, when he took the rookie Cody Rhodes back to the school he finished from last week. Cody showed promise, as he had a brand new mentor in the form of thirteen year veteran Hardcore Holly, who rooted him on. After Rhodes had stolen the win, Kenny suddenly put the boots on Cody in a brutal attack - but Hardcore Holly slid into the ring, cleaning house of Dykstra with a dropkick, fending Dykstra off up the rampway.
- Shane McMahon was backstage confronting Triple H, who was surrounded by security. The WWE Chairman was furious with 'the King of Kings', telling him that that was not what RAW was about anymore. Shane said that this was a new WWE, not the same WWE that Triple H waved goodbye to when he went off with his torn quadriceps. 'The Game' calmly told Shane that maybe he needed to be having a word with Umaga too, he didn't seem to get the memo either. Shane told Triple H that he walked back into RAW, he picked his own fight, he didn't once look to him for permission to do any of these things. Triple H sarcastically apologized to him for not giving him a permission slip. Shane was done with the humor, telling Hunter that for right now, he was suspended! Triple H got in Shane's face, telling him he would regret this, and that Umaga wouldn't be happy to hear this. Shane didn't seem deterred, as 'the Game' was escorted away by security.
MATCH TWO // Flag match: La Résistance (Sylvain Grenier and Robert Conway) def. Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard and JTG) in 5:28 after Conway retrieved the Quebec flag from the pole. This match was the result of La Résistance costing Cryme Tyme the World Tag Team Championship last week, and put a beating on Shad and JTG after their loss. The results of this match were simple: retrieving their respective flags from the opposing team's corner of the ring. Shad and JTG looked to have the upper hand early on, and JTG cut Grenier off the apron, then climbed up to grab the United States flag from La Résistance's corner - but out walked Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch to distract him! JTG instead chose to dive out on top of the World Tag Team Champions, which allowed Conway and Grenier to deliver Au Revoir on Shad, then collect their flag. After the match, La Résistance continued to put the boots to Shad, when Cade and Murdoch joined in on beating down Cryme Tyme in the ring. But then the champs and the French-Canadians had a face-off, with La Résistance seemingly wanting a shot at the titles - but the Highlanders hit the ring, Robbie and Rory McAllister fending them off! The Scotsmen attended to Cryme Tyme in the ring.
- Todd Grisham was at the concessions stand with the WWE Champion John Cena, as Todd asked the WWE Champion about why he was out here with the fans. John told Todd that he wasn't in competition tonight, and he's sure that Shane McMahon would love to see him but John has other things on his mind, and that relates to the fatal four-way match tonight. The winner of that match will go on to face him at SummerSlam, so John decided he was going to use his downtime wisely, he was going to watch the match up close, but he was going to do it with the best fans in the world here in Tucson, Arizona! The crowd around him cheered, as Cena showed off his box of popcorn and his big soda - the WWE Champion was going to enjoy tonight.
MATCH THREE // WWE Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley def. William Regal in 6:02 after the Spear. 'The Unstoppable' Bobby Lashley was victorious in defeating Umaga to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship at the Great American Bash, and was back tonight on RAW to take on 'the Blackpool Villain' William Regal, who was still self-conscious about his breath after being accidentally kissed by Snitsky two weeks ago. Regal put up quite a fight and kept Lashley down on the mat, but as he punished Lashley, Bobby began to make a comeback and he finally dodged a Knee Trembler, leading to the win. After the match, Lashley was interrupted by Chris Masters who made his way out to the rampway. 'The Masterpiece' applauded Lashley on such a dominant win against Umaga at the Great American Bash, that it was such an impressive feat to resort to a barbarian's way of handling business. Chris looked Lashley in the eye and at the WWE Intercontinental Championship on his shoulder, and said that he was afraid he would have to take it from him, claiming that it would make a beautiful addition to his chiselled abs. Lashley refrained from letting Masters touch it however, telling Masters that if he touched the gold he fought so hard to win again, he would punch every muscle out of his body. Masters laughed and touched it again, and Lashley got tensed up. He started cornering Masters, when Regal came from behind, leaving Lashley laying with his brass knuckles! Masters simply smiled, leaving the ring with Regal. Lashley crawled in the ring, sure to be waiting for revenge.
- Umaga was seen in a stock room surrounded by a chain-link fence. 'The Samoan Bulldozer' was presumably left here after the altercation with Triple H, but the crazed Umaga bit into the fence knowing that he had an opportunity to go on to face John Cena at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship, tonight!
MATCH FOUR // WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle def. Jillian Hall in 4:22 after the Candywrapper. The annoying singing of Jillian Hall grated on the Tucson crowd, as she live performed her way down to the ring. She wanted badly to get a non-title win against the WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle to better her position going forward, and hopefully get a title shot soon enough. But Candice was a resilient champion with a lot of heart, clearly still hurt after losing to King Booker in an intergender tag team match last week. Jillian tried a backdrop, but Candice reversed for the win. After the match, her victory went interrupted by Beth Phoenix, who simply stood at the top of the rampway, 'the Glamazon' making the WWE Women's Championship her primary target.
- Queen Sharmell was seen with her husband, King Booker, who seemed to be mentally prepared ahead of the fatal four-way match to determine who faces John Cena at SummerSlam. The King declared that the time was coming nigh, that their royalty would rise to the top of Monday Night RAW once again. Sharmell said all it took was patience, and Booker said that patience was his strongsuit - but no longer. For tonight, he would prove himself to be the top contender: and go on to beat John Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.
- Elsewhere Randy Orton was seen brooding, 'the Legend Killer' knowing about the stakes of tonight's fatal four-way number one contender's match. Orton still smirked, perhaps at the idea of finishing John Cena off like he started at the Great American Bash.
- Santino Marella was with his girlfriend Maria ahead of her match with Melina, as 'the Italian Stallion' coached Maria with a punchbag. He shouted out phrases from the Rocky movies badly, saying that Maria had the eyes of a tiger, and that she was going to make all of the butterflies sting and fly like a bee. Finally, Maria let out a victory cheer, and hugged her boyfriend - Santino then focusing Maria on her prizefight: to take on 'the Paparazzi Princess' Maria and win! Maria cheered, ready to fight Melina.
MATCH FIVE // Maria (w/Santino Marella) vs Melina ended in a no-contest in 2:46 after Snitsky attacked Marella. Maria was competing tonight again, one week after managing to knock off a victory against the former WWE Women's Champion Melina in a mixed tag match; and Melina was incensed for revenge. Melina got the better of Maria early on, using her experience to attack the inexperienced interviewer. Santino still rooted for Maria and called for the referee several times claiming Maria was cheating. Melina attempted Primal Scream, but Maria managed to reverse it into a school-boy for a close fall. As the match went on, Snitsky came charging down the rampway, mowing Santino down from behind! Snitsky pounded away at Santino, which caused Maria to panic in concern for her boyfriend - and Snitsky suddenly laid his eyes on the Divas. Snitsky hit the ring and scared Maria and Melina away from the ring, chasing Melina out through the crowd and chasing Maria around the ringside area...into a clothesline from Santino! 'The Italian Stallion' buried Snitsky in rights and lefts, before standing tall over a surprised Snitsky, as Santino told Snitsky that nobody laid a finger on his girlfriend! Santino and Maria left holding hands, and even Snitsky was in shock at the behavior of Marella.
- Todd Grisham was backstage with Jeff Hardy, asking 'the Charismatic Enigma' about how the odds were stacked in his favor tonight: having to take on Umaga, Randy Orton and King Booker in order to get to John Cena at SummerSlam. Jeff said that the odds may be stacked against him, but when haven't they? Jeff said he's fought his entire career, scratching and clawing to get to this point. But what does the fact that he is in this position tell everybody? He's worthy. Money in the Bank briefcase or not - he could win tonight and go on to win the WWE Championship on his own! Hardy told Todd that tonight, he didn't care who he was up against, he was in it to win it.
- Shane McMahon was in his office prepared to sit down and spectate the main event, when the WWE Chairman was interrupted by Mr Kennedy. Kennedy wanted to apologize to Shane for his behavior last week, but the Chairman wasn't hearing any of it. Shane told Kennedy that he didn't even knock to get in here, asking Kennedy who the hell he thought he was. Shane told Kennedy that he's lost a lot of respect for him, telling him to get out of his sight and stay out! Kennedy looked despondent, telling Shane "okay".
- In the arena, John Cena was seen taking a seat at ringside with his popcorn and his soda ready - the WWE Champion standing up and riling the Tucson Convention Center up ahead of the main event! Who will Cena face for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam?
MATCH SIX // Number One Contender's Fatal Four-Way match: Randy Orton def. Jeff Hardy, Umaga & King Booker (w/Queen Sharmell) in 11:49 after Orton pinned Booker. The winner of this match would go on to face John Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam on August 26. Four of the best RAW Superstars went at it, with each knowing the stakes were high. Jeff Hardy appeared outnumbered, and at times he was, the victim of attacks from Umaga, Booker and Orton - often in double team attacks. 'The Samoan Bulldozer' was still raging from his altercation with the suspended Triple H earlier tonight, and was out for everybody, whilst 'the Legend Killer' was wise and chose his spots, slipping in and out. Umaga looked to have the match won with the Samoan Spike on Booker, but Hardy broke it up. Later, Booker introduced the sceptre and slammed it across the spine of the Samoan, but Umaga absorbed the blow, then snapped the King's sceptre in two over his knee! In the closing moments Umaga dodged the Scissors Kick from Booker and levelled him with the Samoan Spike, when Hardy managed to hit the Twist of Fate on Umaga! Hardy was the opportunist, going up top and hitting the Swanton Bomb on King Booker - but Randy Orton slid in, tossed Hardy out to the floor and covered Booker, stealing the win! 'The Legend Killer' stood tall in victory, while Jeff looked on in outrage and disappointment at ringside - but the match was now set in stone: Orton was going to SummerSlam. 'The Legend Killer' stood on the second rope and glared right at John Cena, who was sat in the front row. Cena stood up and raised the WWE Championship - Cena vs Orton for the title at SummerSlam.

July 31, 2007 - Phoenix, Arizona - US Airways Center (11,000) "Don't Question My Heart" by Saliva Aired on the Sci-Fi Network (1.5)
SHOW REPORT:
- CM Punk kicked off ECW on Sci-Fi, 'the Straight Edge Superstar' making his way down to the ring to a big ovation from the Phoenix crowd. Punk had made his sights clear, firmly on the ECW World Championship last week, coming right from underneath Chris Benoit's nose. Punk said that he had a feeling everybody knew why he was here, and it involved the ECW World Championship! Punk said that the title had eluded him for so long, and that so many obstacles have come up in his way, time and time again. But he had had enough of the games, if anybody wanted to step to him, he was going to knock them out and make them Go To Sleep - that was a given. Punk declared he wanted his title shot, and he wanted it at SummerSlam.
But one man that had different ideas, was the man that felt Punk cost him his opportunity at the Great American Bash, Chris Benoit! 'The Rabid Wolverine' interrupted Punk and walked down to the ring, where he applauded Punk on cheap shotting him last week, that he did a real terrific job in proving what a true assh*le he really was. Benoit said that he couldn't get his head around CM Punk, he told him to do one simple thing - and that is keep the hell out of his business at the Bash. Benoit said that he had Marcus Cor Von beat, but Punk and his ego just had to get involved! Punk smugly told Benoit that Benoit was getting his ass beaten and cheated out of the ECW World Championship just fine before he showed up. And Punk didn't take orders from anybody, even if it was a respected veteran like Benoit. He applauded Benoit on a stand-up job of giving way to the future of this business, by the way.
Punk and Benoit looked ready to go at it, sizing one another up, when the New Breed interrupted the party. The ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von accompanied by Elijah Burke asked what the noise was all about, that Punk and Benoit were acting like children! Cor Von asked if this was what being ECW World Champion was about: being chased by a bunch of elementary school kids. The duo climbed into the ring, as Burke said that Marcus Cor Von was a grown ass man, and this was his competition? An emotional, attention-speaking brat, and an old man crying about who gets to face Cor Von? Sucks for them, Cor Von had already beaten both of them! Cor Von and Burke mocked Punk and Benoit further, when Benoit asked the two if they wanted to fight, because he was in the mood to beat somebody's ass and make them tap. Cor Von joked, saying that he'd heard that one before. Punk and Benoit finally had enough of the New Breed, running them from the ring - but then Punk and Benoit suddenly started trading blows! Cor Von and Burke laughed at the so-called challengers, as Cor Von told the two they'd see them in the main event, joking that they oughta not kill each other, because they were going down tonight! Kneeling in the ring, Punk and Benoit glared at one another, now knowing they'd have to team up again tonight.
MATCH ONE // Super Crazy def. Mike Knox in 5:03 after the Moonsault. Mike Knox's attempts to dominate the competition on ECW on Sci-Fi was not going according to plan, as proven last week. After Richards was able to score an upset victory against Knox last week, Knox took to attacking the ECW Original after the bell. But who would come to his aid, but the SmackDown Cruiserweight and ECW alumni, Super Crazy! Crazy outmanoeuvred Knox and used his quickness against the larger brute, but Knox soon got a hold of him and took to pounding at Super Crazy. Late in the match, Knox charged the corner but Crazy shot up to the top in time, and hit the Moonsault, Knox rolled up for another upset for Knox! Crazy dashed out of there quick, leaving Knox raging in the centre of the ring. Knox had faced another loss, courtesy of the luchador.
- Tommy Dreamer was backstage, joined by Rebecca, who asked 'the Innovator of Violence' about his business with John Morrison. Tommy asked Rebecca if she had ever met a really pretty girl and gotten really jealous - because that's the opposite of what he felt for John Morrison. He said that John Morrison simply doesn't belong in ECW. His smug attitude, his good looks - but this was ECW, damn it! Dreamer said that he wanted nothing more than to ruin those good looks of 'the Shaman of Sexy', and he wasn't going to rest until he got his hands on 'the Tuesday Night Delight'.
- Extreme Exposé were seen in the locker room, Kelly Kelly and Layla dressed for rare competition ahead of tag team action. Brooke asked the Divas if they were ready for tonight, to which Kelly Kelly told Brooke that they were going to dance their way to victory and Victoria and Trinity wasn't going to stop them. But Victoria and Trinity entered the room having overheard them. Trinity called it cute, telling the girls that they don't know what they're in for. Victoria added that Kelly, Layla and Brooke were going to face their wrath, saying that they are much more talented and so much hotter than the Extreme Exposé could ever be. Victoria wished them luck tonight, because against them - they'd need more than their stripper talents to beat them.
MATCH TWO // Big Daddy V and Matt Striker def. The Major Brothers (Brian and Brett Major) in 4:23 after the Samoan drop by V on Brett. In an insert promo, Brett and Brian Major explained that they had asked Armando Estrada for this match because they were sick of seeing Matt Striker hide behind his pet, Big Daddy V. And with some luck, they could even pull off a win against 'the Mastodon' by beating 'the Teacher'. The Majors did struggle with Big Daddy V early on, but when Striker tagged in, it allowed the Major Brothers to use some of their tandem offense, which they utilized quite well. The Majors even scored a close fall on Striker with a double-team Russian legsweep side effect, but V broke it up. 'The Mastodon' finally got the tag, and dominated, leaving the Majors laying. Striker raised his man's hand in victory, when the Boogeyman's music hit, and the lights went red! Out crawled the Boogeyman, appearing to challenge and provoke 'the Mastodon' - who seemed unnerved by the Boogeyman's antics!
- Armando Estrada was in his office addressing somebody, the ECW General Manager expressing his differences with them, and how he doesn't like this like he's sure they do. The camera panned out to show CM Punk and Chris Benoit, both on opposite sides of the room from one another. Estrada cut to the chase and told them that he couldn't understand it, but Shane McMahon loved their tenaciousness and determination in wanting the ECW World Championship - which is why the WWE Chairman had forced him to make it official for next week: CM Punk against Chris Benoit, in a two-out-of-three falls match. And the winner will go on to face Marcus Cor Von for the ECW World Championship at SummerSlam. Benoit left immediately, whilst Punk pointed the finger, telling Armando that this is how he should have been doing his job a long time ago! Punk left, but Armando's look of disappointment was soon followed by a cocky grin. Was the GM driving the wedge further between Punk and Benoit ahead of their match with the New Breed?
MATCH THREE // Victoria and Trinity def. Extreme Exposé (Kelly Kelly and Layla) (w/Brooke) in 3:45 after the Widow's Peak by Victoria on Kelly. This all started last Friday night on SmackDown, when Victoria and Trinity ruined the Summer Heat bikini contest, attacking the SmackDown and ECW Divas. Kelly Kelly and Layla had not had a lot of in-ring training, but they were trying in there against two veterans of the ring, in the former multi-time WWE Women's Champion, and the Italian-American beauty tonight. They did not amount to much, as Victoria and Trinity teamed up to isolate Layla from Kelly. But Kelly Kelly got the tag and tried to run wild on Victoria. Unfortunately Trinity grabbed her hair from the apron, which allowed Victoria to strike, and the SmackDown Diva scored the win. After the match Trinity grabbed Brooke by the hair, throwing her into Victoria, who also left her laying with the Widow's Peak! Victoria and Trinity had left Extreme Exposé dominated tonight.
- Rebecca was backstage with John Morrison, Rebecca looking for comment after Tommy Dreamer's words earlier tonight. 'The Shaman of Sexy' leaned in the doorway of his locker room with his abs on display, as he asked Rebecca why she cared about what a sweathog of a man like Tommy Dreamer thought, when she should be interested in what 'the Guru of Greatness' had to say. John said that Tommy was a tortured soul he wishes he could put out of his misery, but instead of giving him what he wants and giving him his match - he is enlightened. John Morrison told Rebecca that he was going to invite Tommy Dreamer to the ring next week, and they were going to talk out their differences: and maybe then, Tommy boy can live a prosperous life knowing that he has been touched by the hand of greatness. Morrison returned to his room, but was he continuing to duck Dreamer's challenges?
- A vignette aired, showing the skylines of Glasgow, Scotland. A Scottish man spoke about how it was what he knew, and what he came from. It was an opportunity, but now, he was coming for a bigger opportunity - in the Land of Extreme: Drew McIntyre is coming soon to ECW.
MATCH FOUR // The New Breed (ECW World Champion Marcus Cor Von and Elijah Burke) def. Chris Benoit and CM Punk in 17:26 after the Elijah Experience by Burke on Punk. These two teams had met several times in the past, but this was certainly going to go down a lot differently than in the past. With seven days to go until the number one contender's two-out-of-three falls match between CM Punk and Chris Benoit, tonight the two had to coexist to take on the New Breed. 'The Alpha Male' and 'the Elijah Experience' were also at the top of their game, and effective in their team work of picking apart at Benoit. But Benoit refused to tag in Punk, until a blind tag was made and 'the Straight Edge Superstar' got the tag. But despite Punk's fire, he fell victim to the cheap tactics of the ECW World Champion and his ally Elijah Burke, and the New Breed proceeded to double team and wear down 'the Straight Edge Superstar'. Cor Von and Burke mocked Benoit from across the ring, as they kept Punk away from him. But finally, Punk broke loose from a camel clutch, and Punk made a comeback! Punk came eyes to eyes with Benoit, but instead of tagging him in, decided to go at it alone, roundhouse kicking Cor Von down for a near fall! Punk charged with the step-up knee to the face, when Benoit tagged himself in, and the two teammates started arguing - allowing Cor Von to rush Punk head first into Benoit! Cor Von rolled Benoit up for a close call, when Punk tagged himself back in. Irritated, Punk and Benoit stared each other down, and this time Benoit headbutted Punk back! Punk was dazed, and Burke capitalized, scoring the win! Benoit had left the ringside area without turning back; while the New Breed paraded the ring in celebration - all the while Punk sat up, glaring at Chris Benoit. All of this bad blood will be resolved next Tuesday night on ECW on Sci-Fi in two-out-of-three falls - but only one could go to SummerSlam!
OTHER NOTES:
- It was announced that Armando Estrada would be at SmackDown this Friday Night to "explore business opportunities". Throughout the show Joey Styles and Tazz speculated on what was meant by this.
- It was announced that Chuck Palumbo would be taking on Finlay this Friday night on SmackDown.
- An advertisement aired, promoting WWE SummerSlam, live on pay-per-view on Sunday, August 26.

August 3, 2007 - Phoenix, Arizona - US Airways Center (11,000) "Rise Up 2006" by Drowning Pool Broadcast on The CW (2.5)
SHOW REPORT:
- Batista kicked off Friday Night SmackDown, 'the Animal' receiving a big ovation from the US Airways Center in Phoenix! Making his way down to the ring, Batista continued to have the Phoenix crowd chant his name, as Batista thanked the fans for their support. He said that it had been one heck of a summer so far. He walked in with the expectations that at Vengeance: Night of Champions, he would beat the Undertaker and reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship. Nice thought but, it didn't go to plan. Then when the title was vacated due to 'the Deadman's injuries, he thought he would win the tournament at the Great American Bash, and that was a great idea, easily accomplishable: but it didn't go to plan. But now, finally at SummerSlam, the World Heavyweight Championship would be his - and the man he was going to beat, was the reason for all of this chasing, the reason for all of this craziness involving the World title. That man's name was Edge! The fans cheered as Batista declared that on August 26, he was going to make 'the Rated R Superstar' regret ever coming to SmackDown, and when it was all said and done, 'the Animal' was going to be a three-time World Heavyweight Champion!
But Carlito made his way down to the ring, the Caribbean having thought to have been taken care of by 'the Animal' last week. Carlito climbed into the ring to loud boos, and Carlito exasperated them by telling them to shut up, they were boring him. Batista asked Carlito if he was out here for another whooping after he and Ric Flair beat his and the Miz's asses last week. But Carlito told Batista it was on the contrary, that what he and 'the Nature Boy' had: it wasn't cool. And Batista saying he was going to be the World Heavyweight Champion? That wasn't cool either. Actually come to think it, Batista wasn't a cool person whatsoever! The crowd booed, as Batista asked Carlito where his apple was. Carlito asked what it meant to him, and Batista told Carlito he was hoping it was out here, so he could stick it right down his throat! Batista dropped Carlito with a spinebuster, then looked to pick the Caribbean up for a Batista Bomb - but just as he was about to, Ric Flair was seen on the Trons; 'the Nature Boy' was down and out! Batista was incensed, instead grabbing Carlito by the collar of his shirt and asking him what he did. Carlito told Batista that he didn't do anything, he was just a distraction! Batista quickly exited the ring, running to the back to see what happened to 'the Nature Boy'.
- In the backstage corridor SmackDown Superstars such as Funaki, Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore and Nunzio were gathered around Ric Flair, who was slowly reaching his feet with the help of personnel. Batista finally arrived at the scene; 'the Animal' asking 'the Nature Boy' who had done this. Flair told his good friend and protegé that it was Edge, he just came at him with the World Heavyweight Championship. Batista was livid, telling Flair he was going to go and talk to him; but Flair told Batista no, and slapped 'the Animal'! Flair told Batista that he's not an old man, he can fight his own battles! Batista reasoned with Ric, telling him that Edge was doing this to toy with him - but Flair told Batista that this was his business, and if anybody was going to go talk to Edge: it was 'the Nature Boy', and he was going to ask him if that was all that he had! Flair stomped away on his own accord, but Batista was left seething.
MATCH ONE // Number One Contender's Triple Threat Tag Team match: The World's Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas) def. Deuce 'n' Domino (w/Cherry) & The Dalton Boys (Jesse and Festus Dalton) in 10:21 after the T-Bone suplex by Benjamin on Festus. WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick joined commentary for this match. The winners of this match would face London and Kendrick for the WWE Tag Team Championships next week on SmackDown. These three teams had all been butting heads over who the rightful number one contenders to the gold were, and tonight was their chance to take it. Jesse and Festus found themselves in the crosshairs, as the World's Greatest Tag Team and Deuce 'n' Domino teamed together to pound away at the Dalton Boys, but eventually it broke down and it became every team for itself. Jesse came off the top rope with a cannonball on top of the other five men out on the floor at one point. In the closing moments Deuce nailed Jesse with Crack 'Em in the Mouth, but Festus came in with a big boot to Deuce; and this allowed Benjamin to capitalize. After the match Benjamin and Haas confronted London and Kendrick at the announce table, signalling they would take their titles next week.
- The World Heavyweight Champion Edge was in his locker room, 'the Rated R Superstar' polishing his shiny new title. All of a sudden the door burst open, and in walked an irate Ric Flair, flipping Edge's coffee table over! Edge stood up in defence, and Flair went on a tirade telling Edge that he really did it this time. Ric told Edge that if he wanted to be the World Heavyweight Champion, he had to realize that it was the man that made the title, and Edge was no man! Flair slapped Edge and it fired 'the Rated R Superstar' up. Edge told Ric that he's mad he didn't finish the job, he should have known Flair wouldn't stay down from a little assault. Flair told Edge that he'd have to try a lot harder, telling Edge that he wanted him in the ring tonight! Flair walked away, while Edge hollered that Flair had better hope he still has a career to remember after tonight! Edge's plan had certainly backfired.
MATCH TWO // Maryse def. Michelle McCool (w/Ashley) in 2:57 after the roll-up with her feet on the ropes. This was the official in-ring debut of Maryse, the majestic blonde Frenchwoman wowing the fans of Phoenix with her entrance. After her appearance in the Summer Heat bikini contest last week that fell apart, this was her big chance to make a name for herself against Michelle McCool. McCool was one step ahead of the inexperienced Maryse at every turn, and it eventually led to Maryse rolling McCool up, with her feet on the ropes cheating to win! Maryse celebrated her win like she hadn't done anything wrong, while Michelle and Ashley complained to the referee.
- The Miz was seen walking the halls with Brie and Nikki; the arrogant youngster having Brie hand him his cup of coffee. Miz sipped it when a banana peel flew onto his face! Miz slowly removed it, spotting Hornswoggle in his sights - searching through a dumpster! Miz asked Hornswoggle what the hell he thought he was doing, but Hornswoggle enthusiastically continued scrounging through the garbage. Miz asked the leprechaun if he knew how much time he spent perfecting his handsome face every day to look as great as he did. Hornswoggle simply shrugged, then tossed more garbage at him! Miz, Brie and Nikki stormed away, while the mischievous leprechaun continued searching for treasure, presumably.
MATCH THREE // Chavo Guerrero def. Nunzio in 4:01 after the Frog Splash. Before the match 'the Latino Warrior' made his way out to the ring with a familiar souvenir: it was the mask of Rey Mysterio, the one that Rey had worn the night that Chavo injured his knee last October. Despite Nunzio's best efforts, Chavo was always on the attack and made short work of Nunzio. But he intentionally decided not to cover after the Gory Bomb, and instead decided to head up to the top rope, delivering the Frog Splash made famous by his late uncle Eddie Guerrero, for the win. After the match Chavo Guerrero took the mask of Rey Mysterio's and placed it on the head of Nunzio. Chavo with a microphone said that Rey Mysterio could try to haunt him all that he wanted to, but he wasn't going to get to him. Chavo said that he took Rey out once, and he was going to take great pride when he does it again at SummerSlam! The lights went out, and another Rey Mysterio vignette aired - this one showing the in-ring debut of Rey Mysterio from July 25, 2002: defeating Chavo Guerrero. The vignette finished and the lights returned, and Chavo was in vehement refusal to admit that Rey would be victorious or get to him again!
- In the parking lot Chuck Palumbo was seen revving his motorcycle whilst ECW General Manager Armando Estrada tried to give Palumbo a pet talk. Estrada told Palumbo to go out there and represent the ECW brand against Finlay tonight, but Chuck couldn't hear him and switched his engine off. Palumbo told Armando that he didn't care what he said, he just wanted to ride. Off Palumbo rode, and with his exit came the arrival of SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, flanked by Vickie Guerrero. Long demanded to know what Armando was doing here but Armando told Teddy it had nothing to do with him. Long threatened to get security to throw his ass out of here, when Armando calmed Long down. He told Teddy that Shane McMahon told him to get serious about ECW: after all, it's his brand. So he's here tonight looking to expand his roster and scout his talent. And if Teddy had anything to say about it, too bad - it would violate the talent exchange agreement. "Pretty clever huh?" chuckled the Cuban, blowing his cigar smoke in Long's face and walking away. Long was furious, not that that made a change to lately.
- Matt Hardy made his way out to the ring for his match against the WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter; Hardy having gotten under the skin of 'the Franchise Playa' numerous times in recent weeks. But as Montel Vontavious Porter made his way out to the ring, it was clear the WWE United States Champion wasn't here to wrestle. Dressed in work-out clothes, MVP had a huge grin on his face as he climbed into the ring and asked Hardy if he was out here for a match or something. Montel said that he didn't remember saying he wanted a wrestling match with Matt Hardy tonight. But what MVP did have in mind was another, better way to prove to Matt Hardy why he was better than him in every single way. Porter told Hardy that it took a lot more than a bunch of wrestling moves to make MVP the most valuable player in SmackDown history. It took a special skillset of talents, and one of them was fitness. Porter said judging by Hardy's somewhat doughy physique, this looked to be an easy match. Hardy then casually took Porter's microphone and told Porter that whatever he's got hiding up that shirt of his is surely not fair of him to say. But Matt agreed to play whatever game MVP wanted to play, because it took a special type of Superstar to be put on the spot and still beat Montel Vontavious Porter.
MVP told Hardy that he was on, but warning Hardy that he bet he couldn't do twenty push-ups. Hardy simply complied, getting down and getting to work on them! Hardy finished his set and jumped up to his feet, telling Porter to bring his A-game, that didn't even make him break a sweat. Porter was surprised, but told Matt to watch his form carefully because it was way better than his. Porter pushed up twenty-five times, then hopped up telling Hardy to top that! Matt got down and progressed with all of them, but MVP wanted to keep going. Matt told Porter to quit the games and just face him, because he wasn't going to tire out, telling Porter to admit that Matt Hardy was better than MVP at doing pushups! MVP smirked, then got down and powered out another thirty pushups in no time. MVP asked Hardy if he was going to have problems with this one, telling Hardy he didn't look cut out for this. Instead, Hardy kept going and going - reaching twenty-five before struggling. Porter laughed at Hardy's hesitation: but Hardy pushed through it and kept going, reaching twenty-nine when MVP kicked Hardy's foot out from beneath him! MVP celebrated and declared himself the winner, and still better at Matt Hardy at everything - when Matt suddenly clotheslined the WWE United States Champion over the top rope! MVP was irate, but Hardy got down and did more pushups, further angering 'the Franchise Playa'!
- Armando Estrada was in the locker room seemingly discussing business with the World's Greatest Tag Team. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas were interested in what the ECW General Manager had to say, when Theodore Long approached the conversation, the SmackDown General Manager asking Benjamin and Haas if they liked the idea of challenging Paul London and Brian Kendrick for the WWE Tag Team Championships. They said they did, to which Long told them if they dared to sign with Estrada, then they could kiss that opportunity goodbye. Benjamin and Haas agreed that wasn't the right move to make and thanked Armando for the opportunity, leaving. Armando asked Teddy what the hell he was doing - to which Long told Armando that there was a little thing about poaching talent: subtlety. Estrada barked at Long telling him to stay out of his business. Long called after, saying it was both their business!
MATCH FOUR // Finlay def. Chuck Palumbo in 7:14 after the Celtic Cross. The ECW Superstar had come to SmackDown tonight in hopes of defeating 'the Fighting Irishman'. Finlay however, was spoiling for a fight and showed to be a tough competitor for Palumbo to go up against. Palumbo was all business though, and used his size as an advantage against the veteran. Palumbo was going for the back of Finlay, wearing it down and attempting to weaken him with a gripping backbreaker clutch, hanging Finlay in mid air over his shoulder. Finlay made a comeback, but walked right into a clothesline from the returning motorcyclist! Palumbo had Finlay where he wanted him, going for Full Throttle - but Hornswoggle had different plans in mind, as he popped up and sat on Chuck's motorcycle! Chuck was distracted, allowing Finlay to claim the win! After the match however the Miz came down the aisleway by himself, Miz clearly not happy with how Hornswoggle treat him earlier tonight. He looked to get his hands on Hornswoggle, when Finlay stepped in front of Miz telling him to watch his step or lose his teeth! Miz backed off, as Finlay and Hornswoggle stared him down from the ringside area.
- Funaki, 'SmackDown's Number One Announcer' was backstage catching a word with the WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter, who asked Porter about how it felt to lose the Push-Up Contest against Matt Hardy tonight. MVP asked Funaki if he was blind, calling him a terrible broadcast journalist. MVP told Funaki that he won tonight, but Matt Hardy took him out, he was a sore loser! MVP said that the fact still remained, that he was better than Matt Hardy, and he was better than everybody watching. Matt Hardy suddenly appeared, asking Porter if he really believed that, because he disagreed. Hardy was looking for a handshake, but MVP wouldn't give him it because he didn't deserve it. Hardy asked what he had to do to get it, humoring Porter: and MVP told Hardy that he had to beat him in an Arm Wrestling match, next week on SmackDown. Hardy laughed, saying he won the North Carolina State Arm Wrestling Championship in 2005. Porter said that was good - he was going to beat an Arm Wrestling Champion and prove to Matt Hardy that he was better than him next week. As MVP left, Hardy asked Funaki if he thought Porter was a hothead.
MATCH FIVE // Kevin Thorn (w/Ariel) def. Shannon Moore in 5:22 after the Crucifix Bomb. 'The Gothic Prince' had an impressive debut last week on SmackDown when he defeated Jimmy Wang Yang, but tonight he was up against a close ally of Wang Yang's, and a familiar face in fellow former ECW Superstar Shannon Moore. 'The Prince of Punk' brought the fight to Thorn early on, and despite Thorn's size advantage he looked to be in trouble after a springboard moonsault out to the floor. But Thorn was able to turn it around after 'the Duchess' Ariel pulled the leg of Moore re-entering the ring. After the match, Thorn once again tongued his partner in crime in the dark of the US Airways Center - Thorn and Ariel a perverse but powerful couple.
- Armando Estrada was still out to negotiate with various SmackDown talents, this time talking with Paul Burchill and Dave Taylor. The ECW General Manager asked Burchill if they had come to an agreement, to which Burchill told Armando he needed more time to think it through. But Theodore Long again entered the conversation; the SmackDown General Manager this time with Kristal with him. Long told Estrada that he had had it with Estrada walking around and talking to his talent! Long told Estrada to get out, and Armando stood up to immediately remind Long that if he got in his way, the talent exchange would go bye-bye. Long told Armando that if he really wanted to build the ECW roster, he could do it the respectful way, and that was through a trade. Intrigued, Armando told Long he would be in touch, to which Long told him that would be great - but if he ever caught him snooping around his locker rooms again, he wouldn't hesitate to throw Armando's ass out of here all by himself. Estrada laughed, telling Long he would take the risk, but left on his own accord. Kristal wondered where this new energy from Long was coming from, saying he hadn't seen him like he has this past two weeks. Long told Kristal that he was simply done with being walked all over by anybody and everybody in this damn company!
- Ric Flair was warming up ahead of the main event against Edge, when 'the Nature Boy' was joined by his good friend Batista. 'The Animal' seemed somewhat concerned for Flair, sensing that something bad could happen. Ric told Batista straight that he could care for himself. He said that he may be a fifty-seven year old man, but that doesn't mean he can't still go with the best of them. Batista told Flair that that's what he admired about him. But he told Ric to save him some for SummerSlam. Flair laughed, telling Batista there was no promises. The two hugged and Batista left; Flair continuing to get prepared for the main event.
MATCH SIX // World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs Ric Flair went to a no contest in 14:22 after the Great Khali interrupted the match. 'The Rated R Superstar' attacked Ric Flair earlier tonight in an attempt to anger 'the Animal' Batista, and it certainly worked. Unfortunately for Edge, 'the Nature Boy' had a lot more fight left in him and called him out for this match, and so 'the Nature Boy' was out here tonight looking to knock off a victory and earn some sweet revenge against the World Heavyweight Champion. Flair was pulling out every trick in the old playbook, kicking Edge low; poking the eyes of Edge; even rolling Edge up for a desperate win. But Edge proved why he was the World Heavyweight Champion, taking everything Flair had. Edge signalled the Spear for Flair, but Flair instead chopped Edge down, then looked to apply the Figure-Four Leglock, when 'the Punjabi Nightmare' made his arrival! The Great Khali with Runjin Singh stomped down to the ring, and Edge wisely slipped out of the ring. Flair was stranded, but he wasn't going to step down from Khali. Flair refused to stand in, as Khali let out a roar: but Flair started trying to combat 'the Punjabi Giant' - the seven-footer invulnerable to the chops of the mammoth man. Khali soon chopped Flair across the skull, when Batista made an appearance, looking to stop Khali from seriously harming his good friend! Batista ran down to ringside, but he was taken down by a big Spear from 'the Rated R Superstar'! Khali scooped Flair up from the canvas, picking him up and dropping him with not one but two Tree Slams! 'The Punjabi Nightmare' let out another roar in dominance, whilst the World Heavyweight Champion knelt over Batista, looking up at the destruction of Ric Flair in the ring with a cocky grin on his face! Was this another master plan from 'the Ultimate Opportunist'?

August 6, 2007 - Buffalo, New York - HSBC Arena (11,000) "...To Be Loved" by Papa Roach Live on the USA Network (3.6)
SHOW REPORT:
- Randy Orton made his way out to the ring to kick off Monday Night RAW in Buffalo, New York. 'The Legend Killer', just under three weeks away from SummerSlam, had a poised demeanor to him as he climbed into the ring. Orton said that last week was not a test, it was not a competition to him, so much as it was a confirmation that what was coming to him, was in fact going to come to him at SummerSlam. Randy said that this meant the WWE Championship would be coming with its rightful owner, the man before you today - 'the Legend Killer' Randy Orton. Orton said that he had been waiting patiently, biding his time but the fact of the matter was that you could not escape fate: and the fate of John Cena was winding up with a swift, brain-shattering, amnesia-causing Punt to the skull, and thus the Age of Orton would be upon us.
But John Cena had something to say about that, as the WWE Champion made his way out to the rampway to a mixed ovation from the hardcore New York crowd. Cena told Orton to stop, that there were children here, and he was boring each and every one of them! John told Randy that he had never heard such a boring tirade about how he was going to beat John Cena, and take the WWE Championship. Orton smirked as Cena continued berating Randy's microphone etiquette, asking if Orton had ever heard himself speak before. John got down to business as he said he knew Randy Orton was a dangerous man, and he hadn't forgotten how it was Randy Orton that left him laying, the recipient of a Punt kick to the head at the end of the Great American Bash. But that doesn't make John Cena intimidated of 'the Legend Killer' one bit. Cena said at SummerSlam, he didn't care who Randy Orton was, he had been the man on the mountain: the WWE Champion, for eleven long months. And Randy Orton would not take his title away from him! Orton told Cena that that was where he was wrong. Orton said that he's watched Cena closely every step of the way. He knows John Cena inside and out, and he knew that Cena was a heck of a performer. But that didn't change the fact that John Cena was human like the rest of them, and come SummerSlam he was going to take Cena's title and leave him for dead for the whole world to see!
The two opponents at SummerSlam were surprisingly joined by another guest, the Money in the Bank holder Jeff Hardy! Hardy burst past Cena on his way to the ring, taking his microphone from the champ, as 'the Charismatic Enigma' clearly had a fire lit inside of him. Jeff asked Randy if he really thought he won last week. Jeff told Randy that he had the fatal four-way match won last week, and it was Orton that stole the victory. But that wasn't going to sit well with Jeff Hardy, and Hardy challenged Orton to a match tonight! The Buffalo crowd were excited by the idea, but Randy told Jeff that he didn't need to beat Hardy again, telling him that he already beat him last week - and that was why he was the number one contender. This didn't go well, as Jeff stomped down to the ring, wanting to get himself some of 'the Legend Killer' and the two went at it! The WWE Champion John Cena could only watch as Orton got the better of Hardy, looking for the RKO - but Hardy spun out of it, planting Orton with the Twist of Fate! Hardy picked up the mic, telling Orton that he wanted his match tonight before leaving! Hardy had a new look of attitude on his face, as he passed John on the way up the rampway. Mr Money in the Bank turned to Cena before leaving, telling Cena that after Orton - he was coming for the WWE Championship! Hardy left, leaving Cena in shock of what Hardy was capable of. Meanwhile Orton looked beside himself left in the ring, angered by what had just taken place.
- Backstage Santino Marella and Maria were standing by with Todd Grisham, as Todd noted that 'the Italian Stallion' showed a new side to him last week when he stuck up for his girlfriend Maria against Snitsky. Santino told Todd that he has a fiery personality, it comes with his heritage. But there comes a point where you mess with a man's woman and you cross the line. Santino confessed his love for Maria, to which Maria told Santino she loved him too - but she didn't want him to get hurt tonight. Marella said he wasn't going to get hurt: but he was going to prove that he could beat that disgusting, filthy ogre Snitsky on his own. Santino requested Maria stay in the back, because it could get uglier than Snitsky's acne outbreaks. They kissed, Maria left looking on in concern.
MATCH ONE // WWE Intercontinental Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) def. Chris Masters in 6:47 after the Spear. 'The Masterpiece' has been a recurring thorn in the side of 'the Unstoppable' Bobby Lashley, all spanning from when Bobby Lashley effectively broke and put an end to the Masterlock Challenge. Masters was here tonight getting the first shot at Lashley as the WWE Intercontinental Championship was at stake, and he fared well - wisely slowing down the explosive powerhouse and setting him up for the Masterlock. But every time he tried, he was unable to get it locked in; and Lashley soon made a comeback, scoring the win. Lashley stood tall with the WWE Intercontinental Championship in tow, when William Regal came down to the ring - 'the Blackpool Villain' also with stocks in wanting to take the title from Lashley - but Lashley dodged Regal's brass knuckles; leaving Regal laying as well with another Spear! It seemed that Lashley had a target on his back now that he was the WWE Intercontinental Champion, as Lashley left the ring in victory tonight.
- The WWE Chairman Shane McMahon was on the phone with SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, as Shane was reprimanding Long for thwarting Armando Estrada's attempts to negotiate with SmackDown talent last Friday night. Shane told Teddy that he was on thin ice, and claimed that the trade would make do - but he had ordered Estrada to expand. Long responded shocking Shane with a tirade about how Shane should have informed him first, and said it wasn't fair - causing Shane to lose it and hang up on the GM. He was soon joined by King Booker and Queen Sharmell, who entered the room with Mr Kennedy. Shane told Booker that he knew he wasn't happy with how last week turned out for him, but he's got a shot at redemption tonight, when he and Kennedy take on John Cena and Mark Henry tonight. Booker told Shane that he knew his role, but he didn't trust Mr Kennedy. Shane got in Kennedy's face and tried to psych up the young up-and-comer, telling him that he's let him down and let everybody down enough. But tonight was his redemption too, and he ordered Kennedy not to blow it, or he would be out on his ass! Shane and Booker in his face, Shane asked if they were clear, and Kennedy told them he was clear. McMahon said this was good, telling them that they needed to win tonight, that it was their redemption!
MATCH TWO // Kenny Dykstra def. Hardcore Holly (w/Cody Rhodes) in 4:11 after Dykstra pinned Holly with his hands on the ropes. After Kenny Dykstra was a sore loser and put the boots to Cody Rhodes after their match last week, the wily veteran Hardcore Holly looked to exact revenge on Dykstra tonight on RAW. In an insert promo during his entrance, Kenny Dykstra talked about how he was just looking for the right opportunity, reiterating that he was the most underrated WWE Superstar on Monday Night RAW - and guys like Cody Rhodes did not deserve opportunities over a golden boy like him. Holly taught Kenny a lesson, and Dykstra was cowardly; though Cody ensured Dykstra did not walk away from the match. Holly slingshot into a sunset flip on Dykstra, but Kenny was able to block it - his hands on the ropes, stealing the win. Holly and Rhodes were furious with the loss, while Kenny seemed full of himself.
- Randy Orton was seen still furious in the backstage corridor, beating his forearms against the brick wall. Todd Grisham approached 'the Legend Killer' for comment, to which Orton told Todd that there was nothing left to be said! Orton said that that punk Jeff Hardy did not belong in this scenario. Randy claimed that he was going to be the WWE Champion come SummerSlam, and that 'the Charismatic Enigma' did not fit anywhere in his plans. But Orton seemed to have a plan, telling Todd that he may have to dispose of Jeff Hardy tonight, and make sure he didn't meddle in his business again.
- Shane McMahon made his way out to the ring to boos from the HSBC Arena, as the WWE Chairman had certainly not made himself any friends in the Buffalo audience since taking over the company from his late father. The WWE Chairman grasped a microphone in the ring as he asked Buffalo how everybody was doing, telling them he was glad that they were having fun. Shane said that he came out here to address something that he feels has been blown out of proportion, and this related to the suspension of Triple H. Shane declared that his brother-in-law Triple H, he is happier than anybody to have back in the WWE than anybody: but the reason for why he suspended 'the Game' before he even got started back was because of his lack of respect for authority, and Hunter needed to realize that this was not Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment: it was Shane O'Mac's!
Stephanie McMahon suddenly made her way out to the HSBC Arena, receiving a big surprise ovation from the Buffalo crowd! The sister of the WWE Chairman smiled as she made her way down to the ring, Stephanie noted as the mother of Triple H's young daughter Aurora Rose. Shane warmly greeted his sister, as he welcomed her back to Monday Night RAW after some time away. Stephanie thanked Shane and the fans for the warm ovation, but she had something to tell Shane McMahon. She said that ever since Shane was brought in to power over the WWE, he has changed. He has changed as a person, he doesn't call her or Linda McMahon anymore. And above all else, she watches Shane on television every week, and while he may be doing a damn fine job as the Chairman of the company - she thinks he is in over his head. Shane seemed surprised by this, as he asked Stephanie what she expected him to do. He said that their father was the most ruthless, ambitious businessman in the history of sports entertainment - those are big shoes to fill! Stephanie accepted that, but said that he didn't need or have to suspend Triple H, claiming that Shane did this just to fill his ego! Shane was clearly offended, but saw through Stephanie's words. Shane said that he knew what this was all about, that Stephanie was trying to get Hunter reinstated. But he was good to come back whenever he wanted, so long as he apologize to the boss for how he behaved.
A tense staredown between the siblings followed, when Umaga suddenly came storming out to the ring. 'The Samoan Bulldozer' was the man that Triple H was involved in the altercation with last week, and Umaga was clearly livid as he climbed into the ring and fended Shane away! But on top of that, the Samoan grabbed Stephanie by the throat, Umaga looking around and panicking Shane, who shouted at Umaga not to hurt his sister! Umaga debated hitting Stephanie with the Samoan Spike, but chose against it, much to Shane's delight. That is, until Umaga shoved Stephanie over, then left the ring and hauled Stephanie over his shoulder, taking Triple H's wife hostage! Shane shouted after Umaga demanding he release Stephanie, and claiming his job was on the line, but Umaga wasn't listening! Umaga wanted Triple H, and he had found the next best thing!
- Mark Henry was preparing for the main event, 'the World's Strongest Man' joined by the WWE Champion John Cena, who was glad to see Mark Henry. Cena asked Henry how his head was doing after being Punt kicked by Randy Orton two weeks ago on RAW, causing a two week absence. Mark told John he was feeling fuzzy still, but a little ass kicking of King Booker and Mr Kennedy would fix that. But Mark did warn John about the brutality of 'the Legend Killer', saying that when he faced Randy two weeks ago, he wasn't the same Randy Orton as an opponent. Cena told Mark that he would take his chances come SummerSlam, but as for tonight: they had some asses to beat, and the two shook hands.
MATCH THREE // Randy Orton def. Jeff Hardy in 8:22 after the RKO. Jeff Hardy had inserted himself where Randy Orton did not want him earlier tonight, when 'the Charismatic Enigma' - angry over being cheated out of last week's fatal four-way number one contender's match by Orton - took out his frustrations on 'the Legend Killer'. This was his opportunity, but Randy had his own plans to dispose of the North Carolina native. The announcers speculated what was stopping Jeff from cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase instead, but came to the conclusion Hardy was saving it for the most opportune time. Hardy had Orton running for the hills at various points in this match, and looked to be prepared for the Swanton Bomb during the match when Orton shoved the official into the ropes crotching Hardy, allowing Orton to take control. Methodically Orton started picking apart at Hardy, with a sadistic look on his face. This was a different Randy Orton. But Hardy was defiant, and Hardy hit the Twist of Fate - just for Orton to strategically place his foot on the bottom rope for the break! Hardy once again looked for the Swanton Bomb, but Orton was getting to his feet. Hardy jumped anyway - right into the RKO for the win! But Orton wasn't finished with Hardy after the match, sizing 'the Charismatic Enigma' up for the infamous Punt - but John Cena hit the ring, the WWE Champion trading blows with his SummerSlam opponent, and saving Jeff Hardy from impending doom! Orton bailed from the ring, while Cena wanted more of Orton - all the while Jeff Hardy got up to his feet, taking a close look at the WWE Championship in Cena's hand.
- Shane McMahon was seen panicking in the backstage area, shouting at personnel left and right to try and look for his sister Stephanie McMahon, after she was kidnapped and taken hostage by 'the Samoan Bulldozer' Umaga. Shane grabbed a member of security by the collar and demanded he tell Shane immediately if any member of his team located Umaga or Stephanie! The WWE Chairman was in hot water now, and it all rooted from his suspension of Triple H.
MATCH FOUR // Santino Marella def. Snitsky in 2:41 after the backslide. The monster Snitsky's infatuation with Maria had reached a boiling point in the eyes of Maria's lover Santino Marella, who wanted to go into this and fight Snitsky all by himself. 'The Italian Stallion' had a fired up look in his eyes as he went into this match against the proclaimed "ogre", but Snitsky's size and power immediately showed to be too much for Marella. Santino kept trying to fight Snitsky, but he appeared to be too powerful and quick for Marella to act. Marella was in trouble as Snitsky delivered the big boot to the Italian, when Maria came running down to ringside - Maria coming to Santino's aid. She got on the apron, and Snitsky was interested in her appearance. He approached Maria, who nervously smiled at Snitsky - allowing Santino enough time to recover and steal the win! Marella bailed from the ring as Snitsky was riled up in rage; meanwhile Santino made out with Maria, and proclaimed that he beat "the ogre" all by himself!
- Mr Kennedy was in his locker room, when King Booker and Queen Sharmell entered the room. Booker wanted to follow up on earlier tonight as he reminded Kennedy that if he didn't play by their agenda, he was out on his ass. Kennedy stood up and told Booker that he was getting a little fed up of his attitude. Kennedy told Booker that he knows his role, he knows what he has to do. But if Booker talked to Kennedy like that again, he would smack the taste out of Booker's mouth. Booker asked Kennedy if he was a tough guy, because he was talking to royalty, and what the King says goes. Kennedy responded saying that what the King says goes exactly as Shane McMahon says, and maybe he's past it. Booker and Kennedy faced off, with Kennedy telling Booker he'll play by his rules tonight, but not to push him around any longer.
MATCH FIVE // WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle def. Jillian Hall in 3:59 after the Candywrapper. Beth Phoenix joined commentary for this match, 'the Glamazon' announced as challenging Candice for the WWE Women's Championship next week on RAW. Beth was silent for the entire match, while Jillian Hall had a second chance after coming up short against the WWE Women's Champion last week. The pop singer tried, but Candice was able to outmatch Hall's skills, taking the ring. Candice's celebration was short lived, as Beth suddenly started attacking the champion. Beth left Candice laying after repeatedly slamming her face against the canvas - and Beth got up with a crazed look on her face, raising Candice's WWE Women's Championship. Something that could be the result of the title match next week, live on RAW!
- Backstage was a frantic scene as Shane McMahon arrived at a scene surrounded by security and WWE Superstars, including Jim Duggan, the Highlanders and Cryme Tyme. They had sighted Umaga, who was holding Stephanie McMahon above his shoulders over the edge of a balcony! Stephanie was screaming for help, whilst the WWE Chairman shouted at 'the Samoan Bulldozer' to let his sister go and he'd make it worth it! Umaga simply shouted incoherently in response; the Chairman distressed by the actions of 'the Samoan Savage' - this was a highly sensitive situation, with the sister of the boss in serious danger!
MATCH SIX // WWE Champion John Cena and Mark Henry def. Mr Kennedy and King Booker (w/Queen Sharmell) in 7:19 after the F-U on Booker. The WWE Champion and 'the World's Strongest Man' were up for tag team action in the main event of RAW tonight, against the tense team of Mr Kennedy and King Booker, who had their differences as evident from earlier tonight. The announce team updated us on the situation backstage with Umaga and Stephanie McMahon, with Shane McMahon attempting to reason with 'the Samoan Bulldozer'. Kennedy and Booker were working effectively at keeping Mark Henry at bay, but Cena finally got the tag and ran wild on both Kennedy and Booker. Cena was in control as Randy Orton came out to the rampway to spectate from afar. The distraction allowed Kennedy and Booker to strike Cena from behind, but the dissension started to set in when Booker started ordering Kennedy around. Kennedy had had enough, and the two engaged in a shoving match which ended with Kennedy sucker punching Booker! Booker went down and Kennedy left the ring to argue with an angry Queen Sharmell - all the while, John Cena scored the win! Cena and Mark Henry celebrated the win, but when John's back was turned, Orton slipped into the ring and wiped 'the World's Strongest Man' out with the RKO! Ever so quick, Orton sized Cena up for the RKO - but before he had the chance, Jeff Hardy slipped into the ring and fended Orton off, nailing him with the Money in the Bank briefcase! Hardy was driven, and when Cena turned around, Jeff Hardy dropped John Cena with the Twist of Fate! Hardy stood tall, then glared Orton right in the eye. Hardy picked up the WWE Championship and looked at his Money in the Bank briefcase, suggesting he was going to cash in right here and now - but instead chose to raise the WWE Championship in Orton's face! Orton wasn't the only one that wanted the gold, as Jeff Hardy was proving himself to be a huge threat to John Cena!
- Returning to the chaotic scene backstage, Umaga was still on the balcony with his arm around Stephanie McMahon's throat; Stephanie pleading for Shane McMahon to do something. Shane, still surrounded by security ordered they don't go up there, claiming that 'the Samoan Bulldozer' could do something to seriously harm Steph. 'The Samoan Savage' shouted Triple H's name, barking at the WWE Chairman. Shane asked if that was what this was all about, and Umaga barked 'the King of Kings' name again. Shane was hesitant, when Umaga looked to hoist Stephanie up against the balcony again, causing Shane to panic - and finally the Chairman gave way and shouted that Triple H would be reinstated, and Umaga could face 'the Game' at SummerSlam: so long as he let his sister Stephanie go! Umaga grunted in agreement, but before releasing Stephanie, Umaga suddenly delivered the Samoan Spike to Stephanie McMahon! Umaga left the fallen McMahon, as Shane and the security team raced up to tend to Stephanie - but there would be hell to pay for Umaga - and Shane for that matter - when Triple H comes back from suspension.
