Sorry if a a thread like this has been made before, correct me if i am wrong.
What is with Mattel and them constantly using the larger oversize knee pads and then randomly using the smaller more accurate ones on the same wrestler.
The most obvious is cm punk, who until the last year or so of figures made of him used the oversized knee-pads.
Another example is chris jericho where they seem to alternate using the large and then small ones for no reason.
HHH is another one just googling pics of him when he wrestled and switched from pants to trunks, did he ever used the larger oversized kneepads ??
The new nxt elite seth rollins i just bought and googled a few hours ago and i don't think he ever used the larger knee pads, so i swapped them out.
Can someone please explain this to me because the larger kneepads use more materal and most of the times are not accurate.
So the smaller ones are more accurate and use less material, they should cost less to make right ??
For that matter do any actual wwe wrestlers use the larger knee-pads in real life ??
At the end of the day it may be silly to make a thread about this, but if they are not accurate to the wrestler in question why do they continue doing things the wrong way ?

Kneepada are tricky for Mattel but it's comes down to the small or large ones no middle whatever the wrestler wore the closest to its size will be it . Hhh are long but not short enough to have the short ones till about nowish. Cm punk shorts pada so they chose short for him.it's just all ends at which would be closer that's all

These are pics from seth rollins from nxt and his figure made in the same attire. Forget about the fact he does not have black elbow pads. The knee pads used in his figure are clearly wrong.

The Miz is a perfect example. Look up pics of him and his are almost the scale of the ones on Austin's figures. Most of his figures recently have been oversized. I want to write a letter to Cesaro and Ryder to change theirs so there will be no one for Mattel to justify having the mold for!
Seth is such a "smh". We've had so many Seth elites that all they had to do was cast the legs flesh, paint the designs, and throw on the new scan.

I can't stand the large kneewraps. Period. They either look like hourglasses stuck to the knees or makes the figure look like he has his pants pulled down half way. They look terrible in photos as well.

The large wraps are so thick, definitely looks the worst on the miz due to the snowboots they always give him, he always looks like a wrestler with the legs of an astronaut. That padded/ribbed effect makes them 10x worse too. Awful things.

They've figured out the kick knee pads for the women so think they could figure out the men's if they wanted to

I dont care what Mattel thinks about authenticity but from a playablility standpoint the large kneepads make no sense.

I hate the large pads sooo much. I wish they'd just ditch those all together and just use the medium pads in their place. Painting underneath them where necessary

The leg sleeves of doom suck, always have. They are the wrong choice for many of the wrestlers who get stuck with them. They make the double knee joint useless. There have been so many complaints on those things for as long as I've been on this forum, they need to just be discontinued altogether. The combination of paint and the medium kneepads they have recently used on the new elite Austin Aries and the List Jericho looks fantastic and is much more accurate because you don't see these guys calves, and the kneepads don't go half way up the thigh. I hope MDT continues to go that route in the future.

They look awful. I thought in the beginning it so they would stay up but since they have smaller ones there is no reason to keep using them. They always looked stupid on Savages as well.

They usually give figures the wrong kneepads most of the time. The Rock, Orton, Seth Rollins all wear the open HBK pads, but for some reason they get the mid sized ones. Now the biggest irony is that the basic Rollins get the proper ones. It's just one of those things about Mattel that doesn't make sense. Another example the torso changes with all the Balors, they say they have to use the small torso on the elites due to the an crunch, but then the network spotlight has the proper ripped torso and a paintjob. My biggest pet peeve however is when they have the proper parts for a figure but then choose to use the wrong ones or give them the wrong colors for their attires.

Add Bret Hart to the list of figures who has the oversized kneepads sometimes and then sometimes not.
On his Ringside Exclusive, basic 49, and royal rumble heritage basic they all have in incorrect large kneepads.
Yet his defining moment figure he does not have any kneepads, and his wrestlemania 30 elite he has no elbow pads.

Since I only display my figures, I don't mind them on some figures. As far as Triple H goes, at one time, yes he wore longer knee pads...

While I'm glad Mattel has taken to using a softer material for elbow and knee pads, the leg sleeves they love to use are still a major nuisance.

I wish that from Day 1 they would've just used the mid or small kneepads and just painted the area of the leg around it black to simulate longer knee pads. At least then I can bend the legs.
The only company that ever did them right was Toybiz. They just molded pads as part of the figure. I think molded kneepads and removable elbow pads is ideal.

The long ones are the ones that work best for most wrestlers, because there's something weird that Mattel does with the boots/lower legs. Most wrestlers wear kneepads that go all the way to their boots, but the figures have a weirdly long lower leg between the knee and the top of the boot. So the shorter kneepads usually won't cover the space, and the figures would have a gap between the pad and the boot. But the big kneepads take up too much of the figure's upper leg as well, which looks weird. They should look into developing a better solution, but it's probably too minor an issue for anyone to care about.

It's true but that gap is better than have the long kneepads when the wrestler doesn't use that type of kneepads. And sometimes they have the gap, look at Triple H in the photo right here up, on his left leg.
