The Nexus debut pisses all over this. That whole thing went downhill the second that episode of Raw ended. Punk could've been booked stronger as champion, but he never was booked as badly as Nexus was. Never understood the hype behind that group honestly. I'll admit the way they were handled didn't help, but people crowning them as a modern-day nWo were out of their damn minds.

I still remember watching that & just being in awe afterwards. I was so damn excited to be able to attend MITB that year and it was one of the best crowds I've ever been a part of.

I enjoyed it. But I don't care when it happened.
They didn't do anything with him afterwards besides kill his passion.

The moment why I didn't stop watching WWE back in 2011. Interest was really waning in their product back then. Fast forwarding through all but maybe 1-2 segments per week combined from Raw and SD. Not caring at all about the ppv's. I probably had only a few weeks left, and wasn't even paying much attention when Punk started up. A few minutes in, though, and I realized this wasn't a typical "I'm gonna beat you John" heel promo. Sure, looking back at how Punk's WWE Title run was treated, it was full of flaws. But I still regard that moment as a bridge that led to the likes of Daniel Bryan, the Shield, the Wyatts, more engrossing matches, and generally a more enjoyable product (in my opinion).

The promo was great, but let's be honest; the WWE botched Punk's run the moment he walked out of MITB with the title. From returning 2 weeks later, to putting over ADR and HHH, to playing second fiddle to Cena throughout his 2nd title run.
In the great words of Booker T, "Punk got got."

Since this isn't about current WWE, I'll let PJ have it.

Remember watching it live at 4 in the morning like it was yesterday. Crazy to think it was that long ago and we're talking about it on the Classic Wrestling board.

Yeah Haha plus after I got through scrubbing the carpet I watched G.L.O.W. wrestling but I had to have had kept the volume down so mother didn't hear it in the other room. I was so excited that Punk Said What needed to be said and did a shoutout to Cabana/Hero. That is what is missing in WWE TV-PG right now. Excitement. Hopefully in 6 years from now we will have more exciting moments like this to discuss.

I was a huge Punk fan..but to me this wasn't as great as everyone says it was. I was more interested when he won the title and "left". WWE should've had him gone longer to build it up (and allow punk the rest) but overall that was a great, and believable story.
