I came here to look at a cool figure and all I got was bitching & moaning Should have come here 3 years ago when it was originally posted. the owner was ridiculed and called a Liar by such posters as Ruby Fusion etc. I just don't get what the big fuss is, 3 years ago we had this same figure. |

Anyway, guess there's TWO Brutus protos out there as the pics I've seen are of a graded Brutus with his shears. Before anyone asks about pics of the graded Brutus, sorry but I promised not to post w/o the owner's permission. There are other members here who have seen the graded pics though.

I read the original posts and must have been away from the boards at the time as I don't see any comments from me and didn't recall it. Anyhow, proof cards can be photoshopped pretty easily and the Brutus does not look like the catalog pic so I can see where collectors see it as being custom. Not knowing backstories for figures can be tough as all we mostly hear is: "it came from a former employee". If I would have posted back then, I'd probably say it was a custom due to my lack of history on that particular piece.
Looking at it now and that other hard to find figures have surfaced recently, it seems a lot more legitimate. Heck my Conan/Warrior mock up took a lot of ridicule years ago and I can understand why.
There are probably more Hasbro items out there in private collections that may/may not see the light of day down the road. One of the reasons why not, is the way people here bash things we can't prove or do not have all the background on it; me included to a much lesser degree at times. It may all boil down to jealousy as well, since a limited few acquire these "rare" items. Back onto the point, these forums have gotten downright nasty at times and I can see why new members do not want to post their collections here.
Bottom line: We all need to be more open minded when older, unseen rarities appear. That is not to say everything will be legit but there are a lot of knowledgeable people here who can/should discuss these new findings. I have a lot of unreleased Mattels figures (nothing that earth shattering, but still very cool stuff), but when people start asking who I got them from or the prices I paid, it turns me off from sharing here.

Very interesting. Based on what I've gathered I think it's legit. I'm not an expert by any means. VintageFigs1 are you going to get this graded? Like the other guy who got valentine graded. |

I also didn't see the thread back then. No one on here is a expert and they're entitled to an opinion. To me the figure has a lot of wear, which indicates originality to me. But then again i'm no expert.

I have seen the prototype in ad (obviously) and I have seen the AFA one with the sheers. Neither of them have a logo that's visible on the side of the boots. This one does. Very Interesting.
