I was never a big fan honestly. He was just gonna get lost in the shuffle even if he left the cruiserweight division. It's probably for the best.

Crap worse news to come out of this is he will be pulled from WWE2K18. An ad I don't get to see him go against all this amazing talent on the WWE roster. If he was slated to be included i doubt he'll get pulled. Unless he murders someone or goes on a racist tirade. WWE video games have included guys that were released months prior to the game coming out. Cody left in May and was still featured 2k17. Punk left in January and was still 2k15.

Probably what either led to him wanting out or the reason he did NOT go over. Honestly, Neville is the best thing on 205 right now anyway. Aries seems to have trouble staying with companies for long periods of time. His last run with ROH wasnt all that long, then back to TNA where became champion and then was gone after 2 years or so and then to WWE and lasted what....a year? Yeah a little over a year between NXT and WWE. It is a tough call, because Neville is killing it as Cruiserweight Champion, but still feel like Aries should have gone over somewhere and Neville should have been moved up to the IC title picture. I dont think WWE has any desire moving Neville up to anything. Besides, if Neville is off 205, the show is about dead. Aries has done absolutely nothing noteworthy since coming to WWE and has cut no memorable promo and there is NO desired feud outside of Neville on 205 for him. He was better off in NXT either with or against Roode. Always have enjoyed Aries however I feel like his signing was too far too late. Remember he's going on 40, I know to some that may not seem old. So guys who say he should have went over Neville.. Do you invest in Neville who's 30 and building momentum or risk that to put over a Aries who is 40? Some can make an argument about AJ but realistically AJ has more mainstream allure and can easily be plugged into the main event if needed. Aries was a bit more of a cult classic that I can see WWE not seeing casual fans appreciating. Best luck to him in what he does next! I absolutely invest into a guy thats going on 40 if he warrants it. The problem is Aries was better in TNA than anything he did in WWE. In fact, give me Austin Starr over WWE Aries. He was going through the motions. Maybe it was because he knew WWE had a ceiling on him...maybe he was bored. I dont know. But WWE Aries did nothing to warrant any type of push. I wont put the blame on WWE for this, because they gave him the opportunity and clearly wanted him to dethrone Neville. He just failed to take advantage of it. That feud had numerous Raw spots with some decent time devoted to it, plus 205, plus a red hot heel Neville to get this feud underway. It underperformed each and every time. Neville/Aries has 5 star capability, but could only deliver ordinary results. AJ Styles got better treatment, not just because he was a higher profile star, but because he was putting on fantastic matches, ok to good promos and was drawing for them. I dont think WWE had any real desire in putting AJ at the top of the card. I think they were kind of forced too. well.. if you had a choice... ROH vs Cody Rhodes for the ROH Title. or WWE vs Neville for the Cruiserweight title which would you go for? Neville, Cody's character at the moment sucks. VHAT?!?!?!?!? Cody's character sucks?!?!? BLASPHEMY! No one shot down Cody as anything more than a solid hand that was nothing more noteworthy than a blip of midcarder. I couldnt have been more freaking wrong. I quite loved the Stardust character when he was with the Ascension and his indy work has been OUTSTANDING! I will literally goto any indy wrestling show I can just to see Cody on it. Thats how wrong I was on the guy. If there ever was a case of a guy WWE held back that was so damn talented....its Cody Rhodes. This guy is freaking money. And he does it as both a high profile heel in the Bullet Club, as well as a top babyface for every territory he travels too. I bow down to the man's greatness and I have been humbled.

All I have seen really is his match with Okada. Him constantly taunting the crowd (as if he were still Stardust) took me out of the match. I'd say it is a contender for Okada's weakest Big match this year. He seems to be trying to do the thing Matt Hardy is doing which is condensing all his past characters into one, however, he is not toning any of them down like Matt has, which is making it all fall flat.

Gutted. Been a huge fan of his for ages. Hoped he would've become NXT champion at some point. I'll be interested to see where he ends up next.

damn this sucks. i wanted Aries to win the CW title from Neville and hold it for a little bit, just to freshen things up. Neville could easily have gotten it back.
Aries apparently wasn't happy and asked for his release according to reports. But it just flat out sucks that another good talent is gone from the company

I was reading reports that he was very unhappy being chained to 205 Live.

Shame as he would've made a great heel CW Champ. All the best to him in the future wherever he goes.

Shame. Very talented man and a host of matches we will never see. Guess that sucky Aries scan is the only one we're getting then :/

You need to watch more. I actually have not seen the Okada match. Its on my DVR. Part 2 of NJPW US recorded tonight. Wanted to watch them back to back. He doesnt do the Stardust thing all that often. Outside of this match, I can only think of 1 or 2 other times. When he works as a heel, he is trying to get heat. He is so over now, nothing is working. His match for the ROH title against Daniels was a perfect example of how over he is. He did everything in the world to get heat and couldnt. He even told a fan ringside FU and the fan cheered him. They oughta just abandon the idea of trying to make him a heel. I actually would have preferred him to be against The Bullet Club, instead of aligned. Would have loved to see an Omega/Cody feud.

What a shame. Aries had so much potential to be a huge star. But I assume he wasn't happy with the way he was used. Not necessarily his booking, but being stuck in the Cruiserweights division. I think he could've benefited being in NXT longer too. I feel like he was cheated to the Main Roster, amd got there way too fast. A main roster spot should be earned and his 8 or so months in NXT wasn't enough time to showcase his talent, he was injured for about 4 or 5 months of that time. He must have had some lingering injuries too that factored into the release. I would definitely like to see him back eventually, only in NXT though, he has a lot of unfinished business there. I don't/didn't see him getting past a certain point on the Main Roster, just like Cody Rhodes, and Matt Hardy back in the day. I would think he's heading back to Ring of Honor.

Lol. This company could kill the wrestling spirit out of anybody. He was on the main roster for 4 months and couldn't handle it? I wouldn't put the blame on WWE. They gave him an opportunity, and it was up to him to capitalize on it. Instead of working his way up he called it quits just after 4 months. There have been guys who have been worse spots that came out on the other side alright. The fact that he could only last 4 months just shows he has no drive and expected opportunities to just fall on his lap. They gave him a spot where they felt he was needed, not their fault he didn't like it.

That, or maybe he felt that proving himself again and re-establishing himself wasn't worth it at nearly 40 years old. He can go anywhere else and be a headliner and make great money. But if he built himself up to be a main eventer (and that is a big if) it probably wouldn't happen until he was close to retirement. This would be different if he were younger but I can't blame him for walking away.

All he had to do was wait a bit longer and he probably would have become a champion in World Wrestling Entertainment. A shame, really.
Well, let's see where he goes from here; Lucha Underground could be a strong possibility. On the other hand, they have enough talent in their temple, so one guy more wouldn't do them any favors. New Japan Pro Wrestling or Revolution Pro are also top contenders, as are Total Nonstop Action and Ring of Honor. Time will tell.
