Dixie Carter is going to be on a WWE documentary. Title change at a house show. A-Double is gone. What the is this day, and why does it feel like I should be preparing for the apocalypse?

I'm willing to bet this was a move to boost house show business. It's been done before so they can say "You never know what you might see at a live event." I remember when Edge won the IC title at a house show then lost it in a rematch at another house show like the next day.

AJ should be the WWE Champ. He's the most over face in the company. When Austin was killing it in '98-01 we didn't see the WWE saddle him with the IC or Euro Titles. AJ is above a midcard title.

Cool! I'd be willing to bet this has more to do with AJ's MSG debut than it does Owens being punished. To be honest, keep the title off of Owens, let Orton defeat Jinder, and start an Orton/Owens feud. If anyone can breathe new life into Orton, it's Kevin Owens.

I remember when Edge won the IC title at a house show then lost it in a rematch at another house show like the next day. Close - Edge captured his first singles championship, the WWF Intercontinental Championship, on July 24, 1999, defeating Jeff Jarrett at a house show in Toronto, Ontario. He lost the title the next night, July 25, 1999 to Jarrett at the Fully Loaded PPV in Buffalo, NY.

So AJ Styles wins the WWE Title on a PPV event... but the WWE doesn't release that PPV event on DVD. Therefore I can not own said WWE Title win.
AJ Styles wins the US Title at a live event that wasn't seen on the WWE Network or will be released on DVD. Therefore I can not own said US Title win.
Nice WWE, you're really screwing me around here!!

If it was his MSG Debut - he would have been in this list - Edit - AJ wrestled and lost to Randy Orton at the last MSG house show on March 12. He also wrestled John Cena at MSG on July 16, 2016. His MSG debut was March 25, 2016 - oddly enough vs Kevin Owens - IC Title Match.

this is completely out of left field.....i mean, good for AJ but i dont understand why they do stuff like this....like, house shows are literally just "face wins", time filler stuff.
so whats the point of the PPV match now?

Like others said, AJ deserves more IMO. So does KO for that fact. They are elite level superstars and should be fighting for the wwe championship. Orton isn't top league anymore and Jinder is completely awful. Those two should be fighting for the U.S. title, not Styles and Owens.
While they are trying to elevate the U.S. title, they're degrading the wwe title by having two worthless hacks like Jinder and Orton compete for it.
Anyways...
Congrats AJ, you just keep on proving why you're the man.

I remember the last time the titles changed hands at a house show (the WWE Tag Team Championship), it was because of Evan Bourne's Wellness suspension, I wonder if Kevin Owens violated the Wellness Policy? Hmm...

...turned out to be a nice surprise perk for buying a ticket last minute.
Awesome moment that, honestly, left me speechless. Never would have thought I'd be seeing a title change at a house show. Awesome moment for A.J. Styles to pick up a huge, historic win tonight here in NYC.

The last house show title change was April 22, 2016 when Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor for the NXT Championship in Lowell, Massachusetts. Ironically that's where Joe won his first TNA World Title.

One of those things in the same day maybe, but all 3? That's just craycray. lol
