I remember seeing quite a few defining moments Bret Hart figures sitting around my TRU for a long time in Canada. I didn't collect then, just had a solitary legends Macho Man sitting on my desk at work.
The reason I ask is, I see it going for crazy prices MOC (over $209 USD) and loose (over $100 USD)
Was this a short run figure, or do you think it's because there's just so much demand and not enough figures to go around?
How much do you set the figure going for? Would it be a candidate for rerelease seeing it was so popular?

Think it's just because people missed out on him and wanted to go back and complete the set and have to pay. Hart didn't get a Tom of figures(why I don't know) and that is one of the better ones

At the time he was easy to find, but over time it's been regarded as one of the best Brets released and since it was an early release, people seek it out now and prices are insane. Same w DM HBK, the first DM Macho etc

I don't think I ever saw it at normal retail stores. That or Cena who came out at the same time. Don't think many stores ordered them which is why the series was cancelled. But they were available at Big Lots and other discount stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc. I believe RSC also sold him at or less than retail. I doubt we would get a re-release in that form. Bret in ring attire, with a cloth leather jacket, WWF winged eagle, glasses, and Canadian flag would break their budget. I can possibly see that maybe we get Canadian Stampede Bret re-released but with only the jacket and glasses.

I think I paid about £80 MOC for mine on eBay a couple of years ago
I can only think the price is high because they're no longer available and it is such a great figure and I'm not sure the 1st few series of DMs (up to flair) were ever released in the uk so that's where the price hike comes from over here

So, would you guys say $105 USD for a mint loose figure is a fair price? I'm finding this hard to justify.

No way would I pay $100 for a loose figure of anyone Hmm, I feel like I want to cancel my winning bid. I have never done that before, but it does seem like an overpay. I feel like a lot of eBay sellers have friends put in ghost bids

Everybody has their own price (cue M$M laugh) for they feel is justifiable. I lucked into finding one a few years ago for about retail (only came with the jacket though) so just keep your eyes out.

Missed out on a lot but did win some rarities by sticking to my guns. Some folks here will buy someone like Scott Hall for 3 times the actual price just so they can have it. I rather find it in stores or online for a good price. If you can afford and feel good about it, go for it. Otherwise, wait for Mattel to eventually re-release it or do a better version.

The only figure I'd pay more than $50 for would be a CZW Ambrose with the "EXPLICIT MOX VIOLENCE" trunks and a CZW title. Anything else is a nah from me dawg. But it isn't my money.

$100 MOC for that Figure is a steal! Sucks I might out on him also.

I remember seeing 10s of them at Big Lots for $13 each back in the day, I had to buy mine from RSC originally, since series 3 and 4 killed the line at retail and 5 pretty much only showed up at Big Lots later on(in my experience), along with Legends 2..

I very rarely will pay more than $50 for a loose figure. I have yet to pull the trigger on the NWO Macho because of the prices on it. MOC is another story, but for the most part I collect loose.

Was the DM Bret the last one with Cena? Because that one seemed to be less available than the previous figures. They blew them out at Big Lots and most Big Lots got way more of Austin and Undertaker.
I personally saw copious amounts of every first run DM figure they put out through the first 4 waves, particularly DM1 Macho at Kmart. Series 1 and 2 sat forever at Kmart, Series 3 sat forever at TRU and then series 4 sat forever at Big Lots. I think I ended up getting both DM5 figures at Ringside Fest for like $15 the year CM Punk was there. Cena might have actually been cheaper because I remember feeling like they were just giving them away. The DM figures just weren't hot the first time around, neither were the Legends figures for that matter.

I've never seen DM Bret Hart in retail stores up where I live in WA State. I had to get him off RSC when he came out. Could be a distribution issue along with DM Razor. Never saw a Razor in retail as well.
