OK this time 1 year ago I would never have imagined that a crowd would treat Bayley like she is the most hated woman in pro wrestling. Well I've just watched Raw and that is exactly what I saw and to be truthful it was rather disgusting. She is injured and is going to miss Summerslam so it looked like the audience were kicking her while she was down which was totally undeserving.
I don't follow wrestlers on social media but I have to ask did she say something that upset people?, because ever since her debut she has always been cheered so this sudden turn was rather shocking. I admit her booking hasn't been great but the audience has had almost a year to boo her to show that they're not a fan of her current position so why choose a time where she is probably full of disappointment at missing WWE's second biggest event?
I must say that it was the most uncomfortable WWE segment I have watched in a long time.

I felt bad for her, but this wasn't entirely out of the blue. She's been getting smatterings of boos in a lot of bigger markets, and subdued reactions in most cities. The handling of the Bayley character has been a real shame, and I think Toronto was taking out some of their frustration on the creative direction of her character on her.
I don't think her character has really built up enough gravitas to feel like an injury promo is necessary, so the whole thing just sort of fell flat.

So many wrestlers from nxt were gods in nxt, and they dont give them good push, i think that nxt should be a third brand : to raw or smackdown. Ascensions were so over in nxt, tyler breeze, lots of women, and now they seem lost in the big brands

Bayley works on a small smark scale like NXT. Her schtick just isn't good enough for prime time.

The "I'm a hugger stuff" is a bit cringe worthy to be honest! Then there is the dressing like the Macho Man and generally acting like the an 8 year old!

Bayley works on a small smark scale like NXT. Her schtick just isn't good enough for prime time. Completely disagree. It's a gimmick suited incredibly well for the main roster. She should be a merchandise machine, especially with the younger market. The problem, like with many NXT characters who have made the transition only to sink quickly, is that the casual audience never got exposed to her story. Bayley was only briefly portrayed as an underdog, and won the title less than a year into her main roster career. In NXT, the title win was the payoff to a lengthy build. Unfortunately, it's a product of WWE deciding not to retell character's stories when they get called up. I really think it's important to judge each character individually when making that call. They've been using the broad brush stroke approach and its done a ton of damage to a lot of potentially profitable acts, Bayley being perhaps the most extreme example.

I legit still dont understand her gimmick and what she is suppose to be. Is she a grown adult trying to play a little kid? Is she special needs like Eugene? Does she have social anxiety problem that she is portraying in her awkward promos?
What is she? We've seen that "this is my life" segment where they portrayed her as a virgin who's never had a bf in her life. WWE has completely mishandled her main roster transaction.

I think Bayley made it 10x worse for herself by basically saying, "hey, thanks for booing me right now, jerks."
It turned a smattering of boos into an onslaught, because she pretty much just crapped all over the crowd - even if that wasn't her intent. And she doesn't exactly have the mic skills to dig her self out of that hole in the moment.

Simplest explanation is they were in the bizarro land known as Canada. WWE regularly gets opposite reactions in Canada.
Examples:
- Heel Hart foundation was hated in USA but treated like heroes in Canada. In that case, WWE was smart enough to expect it and it worked great.
- In Canada the crowd cheered for heel Hogan at Wrestlemania.
- People are actually awake when Jinder comes out in Canada. And he gets cheers.
- They cheered for the jobber Jordan fought on Monday and booed Jordan.
Sometimes the reactions make sense but most of the time they are just a contrarian crowd.

However, I think it would have been great if producers had coached her to heel on the crowd if they booed her. If she came back from her injury disgruntled about losing her opportunity and the fans turning on her, it would be a great way to freshen her up. Instead she was just a deer in headlights.

I cannot stand her. I think her character is annoying and her wrestling isn't that good.
I couldn't care less about her, honestly.

I don't watch NXT, never have (probably should give it a try), so I just know Bayley from the main roster and it amazes me that fans stuck with her as long as they did. She is not bad in the ring, but her character and booking has been 100% terrible. It was low of the fans to boo her Monday since she is legit injured and no matter what you think of the performer nobody should want to see a performer injured.
But if she just comes back looking for hugs and playing out the sob story of injury and a happy comeback story....Than she will likely be booed within a month from her return. She needs to use this injury as something that like puts her character in depression and just kind of flips out when she returns.....Heck near her in ring return I'd have her just randomly attack & I mean a pretty brutal attack on an announcer that is asking her questions. Kind of make a little bit like Mankind, give her a dark edge that has grown due to this injury, but somewhere inside of her is the happy go lucky hugger (like Foley had Dude Love).
They won't go that direction and maybe they shouldn't but she needs a major changeup for her character.
Hoping she has a speedy recovery though as the Women's division on Raw is a mess.

I know me and T R W would like to put the heat on Bayley... Her character is colorful and fun. She pays respects to the Macho Man. She collects figures like us. Dat booty. BAYLEY IS A SAINT!

Maybe it's just Toronto fans can see something happening before the rest of the wrestling fans are seeing it. For example, SummerSlam 2004. Edge gets booed like crazy in his match with Jericho and Batista. And Edge was a big time face at the time. But Edge was doing the same old stuff as usual for the past few years and fans were tired of it. Secondly, the fans cheered on Randy Orton over Chris Benoit. Randy Orton was a huge heel and in Evolution at the time, but the fans wanted Orton. What happened in the next few weeks?? Orton face turn, Edge heel turn. Toronto fans can sense when something is gonna happen. Bayley needs to be heel. She looked mega hot with her hair down and not up in the style of an 8 year old girls hair style with the headband thing she has. Heel Bayley I would get behind, the baby face, hugging everyone Bayley can screw off.

The promos basically prove that her characters a nervous talker.

To be fair though she was probably frustrated about missing Summerslam and the negative reaction was unexpected. What she should done though was turn the tables on the crowd and try to make it look like they were booing because they wee disappointed that she was injured.

I don't think any of these situations are in any way similar to what happened to Bayley on Raw: - The whole point of the Hart Foundation was a pro-Canadian/Anti-American gimmick so of course they would be cheered as national heroes in their home country. It was expected because that is exactly how they played it. Not to mention that Bret Hart was a national hero in Canada so he wasn't getting booed no matter what he said or did. - Hogan returning to WM was going to get cheers from any crowd regardless of nationality, which of course is important to note since the WM crowd is a mix of people from all over the freakin' world, not just the fans from Canada. - Despite what WWE marketing tells us, Jinder is a Canadian home boy and the locals knew that so he got the hometown support. Plus he was up against Randy Orton, who is so stale that it is easy for fans to turn on him if the mood strikes them. - Ditto for the local jobber versus the guy with the questionable gimmick of being Kurt's kid. Bayley is a face whose crowd support has decreased since her call ups but it was, to borrow the word, bizarre for an entire arena to turn on her so quickly and brutally. I felt bad for her because she was obviously in over her head trying to work the crowd.
